I've been playing for five years. I play in the marching band, concert band, jazz band and polka band. Our high school has a younger and an older band. I'm a sophomore and I'm in older! (which is good because the younger band director is a psycho!) dramallama <---cute!

Hmmm I don't know where I should rant so I guess I'll rant here. So I auditioned for Wind Ensemble a few weeks ago. My official BD (because it was usually her assistant that was with us... domokun how UNFAIR it's ALL about the marching band??!! WHO ever heard of an "instrumental ensemble" right??) kept having things coming up so my audition was delayed a few days; I got a little pissed. So FINALLY my audtion came, but then I broke my reed (it was still playable but it sucked) right before then (well that's not too much of an excuse though.... sweatdrop I didn't want to waste my BD's time...). And then I played a section of my festival solo (DARRRNNN I THOUGHT I had that part PERFECT!!! BUT NoOoO my always persistent nervousness kicked in, and then I was expecting to screw up because my reed was screwed up, so therefore since my attention was focused on the reed issue, the aspects of my solo part did not go so well....Hey that makes a good tip: DO NOT worry about little problems like those, otherwise your playing will be affected! Play like no one else is there ((WHICH is kindof hard))) Oh yeah and my sight reading had the same sort of problems too. And then I played a note wrong because I thought it was a different key signature. So now I'm just playing in regular freshman band. Oh well at least I (unofficially) got 1st chair....and most of my friends are in it.

Hey fellow clarinet players! Well, I've played clarinet for 4 years , and I'm a sophmore in the high school marching and concert band. I love my little instrument that is called clarinet heart ! It even has a name! It's The Box Ghost (I know, it's a wierd name). I love marching band. Even the parts about the 100 degree weather burning_eyes and hitting my mouthpeice to my mouth. Good times. I play 1st parts, sometimes 2nd. Well, I'm done with the rant about myself. Well, some of the songs that our band plays that are my favorite are: Crazy Train Move It Shout it Out -Our marching show was Shrek- it included: Funkytown Accedentally in Love I'm a Beleiver I loved doing that show heart

Hey everyone! I've been playing the clarinet for four years now in my school's concert band. (We would have a marching band, but considering how it's an all-girls school thus meaning a lack of interest, we don't have enough people -.- wink
My clarinet's name is Mr. McQuiggin. Only because I apparently make a sound like a scotts man when I screw up. So, it was only fit to make my Clarinet's name scottish sounding smile

Hey Clarinets! I've been playing for six years. I started in fifth grade. I was an honorary freshman in 8th grade. That means I was a marcher in the high school band even though I was still in middle school. Something very cool is happening tomorrow. I'm sure you all know what challenges are but just incase you don't, I challenged the girl ahead of me for her chair. The challenge is tomorrow and I'm very excited. I'll let you all know how it goes. My section is definately the most fun in the entire band. The clarinets are just great and I love them all. Yay Clarys!! heart

I'm thinking of switching to oboe or bass clarinet next year...bad or good idea? I'm not bragging or nothing but I'm pretty good at clariy and I play first parts constantly, but then again the rest of the clarinet players in my band are idiots who can't even play a b or an a. oh well lol....HELP!!!

hey guys I've played clarinet for only 2 1/2 years but it was fun all the same. My school is really new and small so yeah but this year is sad because it was cancelled and now I have an old clarinet sitting around and I got braces which I found put marks in the wood. The band was only a simple band no special purpose but to play at art exravaganzas my school hosted. so yeah nice to meet you all.

It seemed inapproiate to post without first introducing myself. My name is.... Akane-senpai! But actually, I'm probably Akane-senpuu to most of you guys. sweatdrop I've been playing for three years now... got a late start.
And now for my question: Are there different grades of mouthpeices? And is there a reed higher than a 3 1/2? A fellow Clarinetist said she usually plays on a 4 1/2, but I have had trouble finding such a reed.
I guess that was 2, but I have a nother one. I play on Rico Royal, is Vandoren really a better reed?
