Iden yawned as he stepped into the dusty old tavern. It didn't look like it had seen much business of late...and that hardly bothered him. The shelves had booze, and there wasn't anyone present to pester him about nicking some. A perfect setup if there ever was one...

Iden's gloved hands were in his coat pockets, and for all intents and purposes, he looked the due norm for himself these days. Duster, jeans, weapons, the whole nine yards.

Daegonna made her way into the tavern, and smiled when she saw Iden.
"Hey."
She was wearing a ragged black dress. The hem was slightly grubby, as if she'd been kneeling on soft ground. It was also flecked with blood. She smelled of herbs and blood. There was a bloody white feather stuck on her coat.
She made her way over to Iden, dusting the dirt and blood off of herself.
As she neared him, odds were good he would feel an aura of raw, crackling power in him. It was something that would tug at his core, calling to something deep within him.
"What's up?" She asked. The innocent cheer in her voice was a bit incongruous beside the raw power she emanated.
Odds were good she was up to something.

Iden had been behind the counter, sifting through his assorted preferences in alcohol, when the door swung open and shut. His gaze shifted away from the bottles in his hands, to see....Dae. And looking like she'd been doing some dark voodoo of hers, too.

His first reaction was simple enough. His arm twisted, and he slung one of the bottles for her to catch. It was whiskey, naturally.

Getting a shot before headin' to work. You?

Iden failed to comment on her appearance, or the deep seated churning in his gut he was feeling. It was a reaction to the aura she was filling the room with, one that involved about as much thought as breathing did for a normal human.

Daegonna caught the bottle he tossed in her direction, and grinned.
"Just came from...work."
She uncorked the bottle, and hopped up onto a barstool, propping one elbow on the counter. She uncorked the bottle, and took a sip. She grimaced.
"This stuff tastes awful." She grumbled. She took another sip. It burned all the way down.
"Where're you off to now?" She asked, looking up at him.
She nearly met his eyes, but dropped her gaze a fraction of an inch. He might be a sort of big brother to her, but he was a vampire, a Cainite.
She turned away, focusing on the bottle instead. Was there a flicker of pain in her eyes? Or was it fear?
The strange aura intensified a bit, then returned to the way it had been when she walked in: perceptible, but only just.
Her tail flicked from side to side, and she finally lifted her gaze back to Iden.
"So has Roan got you on another mission?"

Iden took the other bottle he had been holding, and pressed it to his chest. As he did, he fell backwards, and landed on the counter. His legs sprang, and he slid into a roll over the bar, only to land on his feet, facing Dae.

I can see that...I'm not gonna ask.

Iden's smirk wavered for a moment, but he let it all slide...he was here for a drink, little more.

So he sauntered past Dae, and swept his arms towards the table he was making for.

Wanna seat? I'm not leaving THAT soon.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 3:14 pm

Daegonna chuckled softly, darkly. There was no humour in the little laugh.
She realized he looked the tiniest bit uncomfortable. The aura around her abruptly disappeared. The darkness in her eyes was gone too, stuffed into some deep corner of her mind.
She got to her feet, and followed after Iden. She stared at him hard for several moments, as if looking for something. She didn't seem to find it. He seemed normal enough, and he was no longer quadrupedal. Presumably Roan had....fixed him?
Daegonna seated herself at the table he gestured at, and smiled.

"So where are you going?" She asked, "That is...if you're allowed to say."

She wouldn't be surprised if it was 'need to know' basis and she didn't need to know. Daeognna took another swig of the whiskey, and made a note to pick a drink for him someday. Something she liked the taste of.

"Roan says that when you get back, I can go on patrols with you." Daegonna added, smiling. Most teenaged girls would be chipper about their brothers having to take them shopping, not having to take them on patrols. Then again, daeognna wasn't most girls.

Heading to Saudi Arabia, mate. Off to have fun with the ragheads.

Iden chuckled softly to himself as he slid a chair from the table. Almost literally, Iden fell into the seat, and was propelled nearly instantly into a reclined position. His feet flipped up, and landed with a dull *THUD* on the table.

Fun times, n.....waitaminute.

Iden seemed somewhat dumbstruck when Dae made her second comment. His jaw locked where it had been, in mid word, and his eyes held an incredulous look to them.

What the ******** do I look like, a ******** daycare?

Iden halted himself from saying any more. At least, he gave himself the chance to shake his head slowly, and breathe a deep sigh.

Ah well, whatever. You can handle yourself, right? Better than the other kid. When I get back, I'll introduce you to the men, 'kay?
PostPosted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 3:36 pm

Daegonna almost looked hurt, by his response, but then she laughed. There was genuine humour in her voice.

"I don't think I'll be in your way, Iden. I can do what I'm told and I patrolled with Dagoth and his men while Roan was away. And yes, I can handle myself."

She paused.

"What other kid?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. She took another drink, and set down her bottle with a thud.

Iden quirked a brow, and his smirk made a hasty comeback. He tipped his bottle in a short salute to Dae, before he snapped its neck between forefinger and thumb.

Eh, it's cool. Just make sure you don't stick your head out if s**t starts flying, and all will be well, right?

Iden popped a shrug, then slung his head back to down a swig of his whiskey. It brought a short cough, as the drink burned its way into his recently reconstructed stomach.

Other kid? Oh, yeah. Some freshly dead kid stumbled into the Turtle a few days back. I dropped him off at the Prince's office...and Raoul wants the little b*****d stuck with my team. Not much I can say....so here's hoping he isn't a total ******** when things get ugly. Lasombra....if I'm right. The kid, I mean.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 4:46 pm

Daegonna chuckled softly.

"I can fight, Iden. If the s**t starts flying I'm going to defend myself and mine."

When he told her about the Lasombra, Daegonna raised a brow. Her first question was 'is he cute' but she didn't ask it aloud. She'd find out. Next she was concerned that he was Lasombra.

"Lasombra? Do we know that he can be trusted? Do we know who his Sire is? Or was he just abandoned as a fledgling?" Daegonna didn't like the idea of having an armed Sabbat stranger at her back. She sighed. Now she understood Iden's initial response to finding out he had to babysit her too.
On the other hand, she suspected that he'd been told to teach her, Javos, and the new kid as a learning experience more than a teaching one. Roan's motives might not have been that complex though. Maybe she just wanted to piss him off. It was hard to say.

Iden shrugged once again, and nodded along.

Agreed, agreed, you can hold your own. It's the other guy I'm worried about. Best I can say, he's got nothing.

Iden tipped the bottle once again, draining another hearty swig from his drink before continuing. It was only a brief paused to wipe his lips with his sleeve before his words picked up.

Know? Raoul's got him on a leash tighter than mine. Besides, if he's Sabbat, first sign and I'll blow his head across the nearest wall. The way he tells it, though, was he ran the ******** away from his Sire, whom planned on killing him right after the embrace. Wierd, but sadistic. ******** up story.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 5:06 pm

Daegonna smiled.
Iden had seen her in action on the Phoenix though that was only once. He'd never seen her in a proper struggle for her life, but he had an idea of her power. He'd also seen her in the Shrine, now that she thought about it.

"I see....That is a ******** up story, but most of ours are....Odd, for someone to kill their own, right after an Embrace. Maybe he regretted the Embrace, and didn't want to deal with a kid." Daegonna shrugged. "I don't know much about Raoul. I steer clear of high ranking corpses, or, at least as much as possible. I assume, however, that he wouldn't make a move like this unless he expected us to be prepared to kill his new pet."

Indeed, Iden had seen her in action. But Iden had been a little sidetracked at the time....but that was for another time. At the current moment, Iden was reclined, with his hands resting over his chest as he listened to Dae speak.

Nah, nah, remember, its Sabbat we're talking. Assuming the kid ain't lying, the ******** sired him, and made sure the first people he ate during the initial frenzy was his family. Parents, siblings...you get the picture. Point was to make him suffer before he died.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 5:18 pm

Daegonna raised her eyebrows.
"That's an interesting way of going about torture." She commented. She was curious about the Sire, now. She'd like to pick his brain, a bit. Literally. She could use that kind of outside-the-box viciousness in one of her pets. Her last one, the archaeopteryx like creature, had sort of imploded, because the soul wasn't tough enough, or smart enough.

Daegonna took another swig from her bottle, and looked at Iden thoughtfully.
"How did you die?" She asked.
It was an impertinent, rude, even cruel question, for Dae. But she meant no harm by it. She was curious. She'd asked Roan about her death, too. She'd had enough to drink that she hadn't thought about the question and how painful it might be before she asked it.
She regretted it almost immediately.
"Feel free to ignore the question." Daegonna added, clearly regretting having asked.
She took another swallow of whiskey.

Which time?

Iden asked with a straight face. It was a question, all things considered, that would make most people pause and wonder what he meant. He was just so serious in asking, that it just couldn't be only a joke.

I'm gonna guess you mean the first time around, yes?

As he spoke, a furry little head poked out from the collar of his coat. Having been resting in one of the interior pockets, Liela was now contented to crawl around the hem of the duster, and perch herself on Iden's chest. He scratched the ferret's chin gently, and a contented smirk spread across his face as he did so.
