Yet carving into the world helpful signs and symbols aid others- this is what he has always thought, this is what he has always done. Markers helped others. Marks, messages, they aided others who might be lost, wondering or confused.
His was not a way of battle. Not direct. False signs were useful as well. Making a symbol seem more like another. Hide something behind another. Scratch one out, replace it. The bark of trees could be altered, old written anew. His was a way of teasing tricks. But then, he preferred to just leave helpful advice. Life was much easier with the aid of others.
Each marking led to another, a trail of clues- all leading to bouties, to gathering places. Lost in a storm- the last signs he'd given- aid in an otherwise bleak situation. The wooden words led another to safety. A simple thanks, a name found.
