Kerrigan nodded, following him out the door and into the halls of Haven. If she already ahd butterflies in her stomach about what might come up in this conversation, she could only imagine the bats that would make their appearance when they started talking.

An explosion of rotating shadow revealed the sudden presence of Veroen with Marcus and his arm around the back of the Void Masters neck, as Veroen supported almost all of his Human friends weight.

Veroen looked forward, and shouted Gail's name.

He turned to look at his injured comrade, and spoke to him.

"You'll be fine now. though I fear we have a much bigger problem on our hands.... I could sense the recent presence of the Void down there... It appears that our 'toasted friend', as you call him, has been affiliated with the Void. I pray that my suspicions are incorrect, for we will have a much bigger problem on our hands....And if this is true, then I don't want you fighting him alone again. Void Users are much more dangerous than most sanguanians...

[Edit]
Reappearing in a wisp of black smoke, the badly wounded hunter was held up by his friend and quickly caught himself onto one of the medical beds with his left hand. His gun, hanging by the sling around his shoulder, swung back and forth as the man limped himself onto one of the medical beds he was slowly becoming familiar with. With only his one good eye, Marcus surveyed the place and noticed it to be unusually quiet, guessing both Kerrigan and Sethe went else where in the compounds to talk. Though he wasn't too keen on the idea, Marcus shrugged the thought away, hoping something good would come out of their private pow wow, that is, if they were having one.

In a flurry of the tail of a white lab coat, the familiar face of Dr. Gail Hunter flashed before Marcus one good eye as she quickly pushed him back and begun tearing his clothing off. "Whoa. No dinner first?" Whizzed the man as he laid back onto the bed. Gail, carrying a serious expression, quickly went about injecting several needles into the man's arm.

"Not for you. You're lucky to still be alive. From what I can tell, you have two broken ribs, potentially punctured your lungs, broken wrist and maybe a concussion." Her voice was not gentle as was her touch as she began to strip the man down to just his lower portion of clothing. Sighing as he looked up at the ceiling, Marcus grunted as he felt several more quick stings along his arm before they began to go numb.

"I don't know what's up with you, Mr. Raven, but you keep on getting hurt like this and we'll have to start charging you. Oh great, look. The stitches I gave you earlier have been torn open. Did you know that?" The Doctor asked, her voice hinting the question was rhetorical in nature. The hunter, feeling the urge to sleep come over him, glanced around the medical room as he gave a haphazard smile.

"Heh, Veroen, I think your right. I think we may be in trouble...guy slapped me with a black tentacle I think." His voice hinted to his dazed like state as the painkillers quickly went to work. As they did so, Dr. Gail also went to work, aiming to crack broken bones in place and stitch up new wounds.

"Shhh and take it easy. You need your rest." She mummer as her eyes focused on his lower torso, feeling out with her surgical gloved hands for the broken rib bones. "Right now, Mr Veroen, if you'd like, you can wait outside while I work on Mr. Raven. If he wakes or says anything else, I'll be the first to inform you." The woman then said to vampire as she managed to find beneath the wounded hunter's bruised skin one of the cracked ribs. Whimpering from the sudden pain that briefly overcame the painkillers, Marcus let out a hurtful sigh before closing his eyes and leaving the doctor to take care of everything.

Veroen's expression turned into that of a concerned one, upon hearing the news of the Vampire using a black tentacle.

'Damn! He has a stronger connection than I anticipated if he can do that....'
he thought to himself silently, as he nodded at gail, and exited the room, and sat outside. He lit up a cigarette, and calmed his mind, as he silently lost himself in thought.

After about thirty minutes, the lovely Dr. Gail Hunter walked outside to find the young looking vampire smoking a cigarette outside. Carrying a tired, yet firm smile on her face, She crossed her arms over her slightly bloodstained doctor coat. Now whether that was from Marcus or another patient, it was hard to say. The fatigued Haven doctor let out a loud sigh as she then glanced briefly at the door that lead back to the Infirmary.

"Your friend is fine. Very lucky you teleported him here or he could of died from drowning in his own blood. Luckily the lungs weren't punctured as I had originally thought, but his ribs were broken, thus his trouble breathing. Has a concussion but nothing too serious. Luckily his carpels are fine, but the lower portion of his Radius and Ulna are shattered. His right hand is going to be in a cast for quite sometime." She paused as she studied the man for a moment before continuing.

"Eventually he'll be back to normal, but that's gonna take sometime. Well, there is one thing we could do to heal him faster, but we have a Lycan who sometimes help me in here. If I can find her, I can have her heal him up and he'd be set sooner than letting his wounds heal naturally. But either way, he's going to live. In fact, he's awake, though a little drugged. If you want to ask him any question or anything, you can. Just so long as it isn't strenuous." With that, the woman gave a small nod to Veroen before vanishing inside the medical room once more, checking Marcus once before she went off to preform her other duties.

Veroen silently acknowledged that he understood Gail with a slight nod. He stood up, and made his way back into the infirmary, until he stood next to the infirmary bed that Marcus was laying on.

Veroen shook his head and crossed his arms. For a few moments he was silent, before talking to his recovering comrade.

"Well Marcus, you'll be fine. But you'll have to wear a cast for a while... Which means that you will not be fighting for a while. Which also means that you're gonna have me watching your back everytime you leave Haven. You will be killed if you are ambushed again in this condition. So you're gonna have to deal with me alot more than you have had to." Veroen chuckled softly, and studied Marcus' drugged up self.

Something wasn't right.... Veroen could feel it...

"I gotta go, I'm sorry."

And without another word, or without giving Marcus time to say anything, Veroen disappeared in an explosion of shadow.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 25, 2009 11:19 pm

Veroen appeared in a flash of manipulated shadows inside the Infirmary. However, he was carrying the broken body of a female Lycan. It was Edith. Veroen's face was twisted in anger and extreme anguish, and tears streamed out of his now pitch black eyes. With his teeth clenched, and a tritching lip turned into that of a snarl, he shouted at the top of his lungs.

"GAIL! GET IN HERE, NOW! EDITH IS DYING, DAMNIT!"

Gail ran into the room, and a shocked expression took over her face, as she ran to Veroen. Gail rolled a stretcher over to Veroen, and Veroen carefully laid Edith's broken body onto the stretcher. Gail then rolled the stretcher into the Intensive Care room, and began to do whatever she could to save Edith's life.

Veroen turned, and bit his fist, unsure of what to do. He drew blood from himself. He would taste the blood of the dirty Humans that did this to her. He swore it to himself. Rage took over, and the Void surfaced in his mind, and Veroen gladly let the Void take over.

With a bloody snarl at nothing in particular, Veroen disappeared into an angry storm of Void strands.

Veroen walked into the infirmary, completely covered in blood. A black aura surrounded him, and the black Void armor that had once covered his body was no longer there, and his sword had returned to its normal, thin katana form.

Veroen was silent, a dead expression on his face, as he turned, and took a seat on a nearby chair, not quite knowing what he was waiting for. She was almost dead, when he had brought her here. She was probably dead, for all Veroen knew. His heart was now tainted by the void, and his body was still completely black, from the Void markings that had expanded, completely covering every inch of his skin.

His white hair was now crimson, from being soaked in all the blood.

A pool of blood formed at Veroens feet, from all the excess blood dripping onto the floor.

This would be a frightening sight indeed.

Veroen just sat there, and silently stared off into space, waiting for Gail to come tell him that his precious Edith was dead.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 26, 2009 7:31 am

When being found, picked up and carried by Veroen she had barely responded to his presence there. She hadn't even been able to lift her head she had been so weak and absolutely battered. However, the wolf had managed to gently bring out her tongue in order to lick Veroen's arm and let him know that she wasn't quite dead yet. She'd crawled into that park assuming that it would be her final resting place but Veroen had disturbed her rest. She was more awake now than she'd been before but it didn't count for a whole lot since she was slowly but surely bleeding out. As time went on, though, she started to close her eyes and fall back to sleep again. After all, how could she not? Veroen's arms were the most comforting arms she could have asked for and had she not been in such a dreary state she might have realized that she was actually being saved. She'd taken it for a dream.

By the time they'd gotten to the infirmary the hunter leader was mostly unconscious though when they transferred her to the stretcher she seemed somewhat frightened and confused. However, she was much too weak to do anything about that as her body was defeated and as if to emphasize the point the wolf began hacking and wheezing violently enough upon the stretcher that blood was the end result. The wolf, though, was much too weak to shift herself so that she was not directly lying in the blood but soon enough she was transferred to an operating table anyhow. It was not, however, solely Gail that was to be working on her. Gail needed immediate assistance from Eliot, who'd happened to be on standby until someone required his assistance such as Gail or a hunter in the city.

More than three hours had gone by without either medic leaving the intensive care unit to report anything to Veroen. As was policy in hospitals, both Gail and Eliot preferred it that no one but them was in the unit while operating since it was absolutely tramatizing for someone to see their loved one slowly wasting away. And thus Veroen was left to sit outside of the unit and wait for one of the two medics to either confirm or disprove Veroen's assumption. They'd worked hard and had managed to remove all the silver from her body as well as they'd managed to stitch up the huge gash down Eden's stomach and abdomen. They had her on a ton of IVs in attempts to give her more blood and balance out all the supplements she'd lost while bleeding. However, despite all their efforts Meredith's heartbeat grew more and more faint until the green line came across the screen and Gail and Eliot went into overdrive in order to bring Meredith back.

"She's flat lined!"

Eliot responded immediately and brought out the necessary equipment and began trying to bring Meredith back.

Meredith, however, during the entire procedure hadn't responded or budged so much as a muscle the entire time. The medics, at first, hadn't bothered with knocking her out with any drugs but now they made sure she wasn't awake for the procedure as there were things she probably wouldn't want to be awake for. Meredith simply laid there, her bleeding now under control but her heart giving way and just collapsing. However, it wasn't quite as unpleasant for her as she would have suspected had she been awake and observing herself flat line. The medics were frantically working to try and revive her, remaining calm but becoming rather quick with their thinking and rushed. There was the pressure upon them to save the hunter leader and that was something that would weigh heavily upon them if they were unable to do so. This situation, however, was not as simple as it seemed.

All of it was simply like one huge dream. Instead of darkness when she closed her eyes there was complete white and everything seemed somewhat faded out or silhouetted. It was like being alive but it felt as though she were on a different plane entirely, a foreign one she'd never taken foot upon before. Was this what it felt like to be one with the void? Where was she? The closest of things to her, though, the only things familiar about her surroundings were her children. She didn't know why but she knew they were hers and she was desperately calling to them through a chain link fence, trying to get them to come back over to her side. Calen and Adrien had been her names for them.

"Calen! Adrien! Come over here, to mommy please!"

The children, at first, were not bothered with the voice that called them but after Meredith shouting at them a few times they rose from their sandbox in which they'd been playing and came over to the fence. They looked at their mother with recognition but at the same time it seemed as though she were a complete stranger to them. Both were silent.

Meredith laid her hand upon the chain link fence and attempted to convince her children to come with her.

"Here, touch mommy's hand. I'm here now and I'll keep you safe."

It was Adrien who spoke and Calen who touched her hand, "We can't mommy. It's not allowed. You can come here, though. Come play with us."

Meredith smiled and began to thoughtlessly grasp the chain link fence, moving to place her foot in the foot hold when all of a sudden her entire body shot through with immense pain. She fell from the fence.

Shock number one.

Both children squealed at the sight of their mother falling to the ground and try as they might to reach through the fence, only their tiny fingers could reach the other side.

"Mommy! Mommy get up!"

The children were tearing now, sobbing.

As Meredith laid there and heard her children crying her maternal instincts immediately kicked in and she realized that she had to get over that damned fence to assure her kids that everything was alright.

"It's alright, Mommy's alright. I just have some hurts on the inside, that's all. It's fine now."

She began to attempt climbing the chain link fence again and managed to get a foot on this time when the same pain hammered through her. It knocked her from the fence again and yet again she was on the ground again with the cries of her children torturing her.

"Mommy!"

Shock number two.

"Mommy please don't leave us," Calen pleaded, tears in his eyes.

"They're trying to take you away from us, Mommy," Adrien informed her.

Meredith shook her head, completely disoriented from the numbness inside of her and the slight spasms her muscles were having.

"No, no. I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to take care of you, promise ..."

Eliot and Gail were preparing for the third shock, raising the voltage slightly each time.

Veroen lost himself within his own darkened mind. Memories came flooding in, like an ocean of blood and anguish.

* * *

"Brother, run!" Shouted Alastril, Veroen's older brother. It was the year 1434 A.D.. Veroen had been a full time assassin for 3 years now, and was 24 years old. Oh, those were the days. He and his brother took down many targets, accepted many contracts, and did whatever they had to to survive and put food on the table for the both of them, and their little sister.

Veroen looked at his brother, who had an extremely fearful expression that was rooted down into his heart. There were 5 of them. Each different colored fur.

Alastril attempted to behead one of them with his sword, but to no avail. Veroen watched in horror, as he drew his own sword as his brother was bitten in half before his very eyes.

He threw some poison tipped daggers at the one that killed his brother, but they did little more than provoke the Lycan. He had never seen a Lycan before, and for the first time in his life, he was afraid.

His little sister came running into the room, tears streaming down her face, and crying out for her dying brother.

"Allysa, NO!" Veroen shouted, but it was too late. His 15 year old little sister grabbed her brothers sword, and with her weak arms tried to slash the Lycan. The Lycan turned, and ripped out her throat with little effort. Veroen's frail little sister collapsed, and bled to death within a matter of seconds.

"Allysa!" Veroen cried out, tears streaming down his face.

Alastril coughed, and blood ran from his mouth. "B-brother" he coughed again, blood gurgled in his throat. "Run!"

Veroen was frozen out of fear, and the Lycans leapt onto the helpless assassin. They tore at his flesh, and Veroen stabbed one of them in the eye with a dagger.

Then, a dark figure, a woman, came out of no where, and beheaded 2 of them. She shouted a warcry, and charged the last 3.

* * *

The sound of shocking broke Veroen from his trance. Fresh tears streamed down his face, and he wondered where he was. It looked like an infirmary.... Then, everything came rushing back, and Veroen became a dead man, once again. He knelt forward, and sobbed, covering his face with his bloody hands. He was still covered in the humans blood from earlier, and his skin was still black from he Void markings consuming his flesh.

Another shock, this one slightly higher pitched.

And another, stronger than the one before it.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 26, 2009 8:53 am

Meredith had managed to scramble up the fence quickly this time, trying to beat the next shock. She was about to jump over when she saw another person she hadn't seen since the day he'd been brutally executed before her eyes ... Reno.

He walked up to the fence and looked at her strangely with the typical smug smile he'd always worn back before things had gone so wrong between them. The man inspected her for a moment and looked at her strangely. "Meredith Jackson?"

Eden was so surprised she almost fell backwards off the fence when she saw Reno on the other side of the fence. She'd never expected to see him again, he was dead after all.

"W-what the? What are you doing here?"

"I'm dead. Duh. Better question here: What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be alive?

Meredith stared at him dumbfounded for a moment and then quickly realized why everything seemed to be white and faded around the edges. This wasn't real. Well it was but this wasn't any world that she was longed for. "I guess ... I am ... But I have to-"

Another numbing pain engulfed her body and Meredith fell off the fence yet again, convulsing this time as she hit the ground and for a moment she thought she wouldn't be able to get back up.

Shock number three.

Instantly Reno was pressed against the chain link fence, slamming it as though he'd be able to do something about her falling. "Eden!"

"I-I'm fine. I gotta get over that damned fence, though, gotta see my kids and take care of them ..."

Reno's face suddenly fell once he realized what was going on. Those new arrivals, the kids, were Meredith's and they had never known their chance at life. He wasn't sure how he felt about that or not seeing as life had f--ked him over, the woman before him had f--ked him over but he still cared for her despite that. He knew he had to explain this to her, she wasn't getting it.

"Look Eden ... This place, this fence - you can't cross it."

"What the f--k do you mean I can't cross it?! My kids are f--king in there, damnit!"

Reno's expression became sullen and he looked at the ground as he spoke, eyes glassy as if threatening to fill with tears. "You're not letting me explain! Just shut up and you'll see where I'm going with this!" He paused for a moment to gauge her reaction and when he realized she'd be quiet he continued. "If you cross this fence, Edith ... you die ... Not here, here you're 'alive' forever but in the real world."

Meredith's eyes dawned with realization and suddenly tears filled her eyes. "Y-you mean ... I have to ..."

"Yeah. You have to die to be with your kids. And whatever you have going for you in the real world, well, you're going to be leaving that behind ..."

Veroen instantly flickered across Eden's thoughts and now she was suddenly torn between him and her children. How could fate be so cruel? Who could ever choose between their children and the love of their life? But she knew her answer regardless ... The hunters needed her, she wasn't meant to be here. Not yet.

"I can't stay here ... I have to go back somehow ... But ... my kids ..."

"I'll look after them for you, promise."

Meredith, through her tears smiled sadly to Reno and lowered her head as she approached the fence once more. "Thank you, Reno. I'm so sorry fo-"

Suddenly the world before her began fading and all she could hear was Reno encouraging her to allow the pain to overwhelm her. Reno had every reason to lead her astray, could she really trust him? But he'd offered to take care of her kids. He couldn't be that bad could he?

It was in that moment, though, that Meredith realized she didn't want to leave just yet but something was pulling her farther and farther away from the fence as she screamed in agony and despair all the while.

Shock number four.

During the procedure Meredith had been shifting back and forth between wolven and human forms and when she shot up in her bed with a gasp she had no f--king clue where she was. She looked around for a moment, completely blind and unable to see, panic setting in. "Reno?! Calen?! Adrien?! Wh-" She caught sight of Gail trying to calm her down and realized that she was in the infirmary and that Reno hadn't been lying about the whole fence ordeal. She realized she hadn't been dreaming either. All of that, it'd been real. She'd almost crossed that fence and died and she never would have known ... Then sadness pounded her harder than any physical blow could ... She hadn't been able to say goodbye to her kids, to Reno, to thank him or make sure her kids were going to be alright ... Meredith began sobbing with Gail at her side comforting her.

The second thought that dawned on her made her sob even more though her sobs were pathetic as she was horrendously weak. Her tears continued to fall, though and she looked around still somewhat dazed though she knew all too well where she was now. She was home, back on earth where she belonged. There was no heaven for her. She'd been straddling the line between life and death for much too long and while she'd caught a glimpse of the good life she'd still chosen to come back here for a reason. "Where's Veroen?"

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Meanwhile Eliot had managed to slip out of the ICU and had ventured into the hall to find a blood soaked Veroen. He hadn't been horribly startled, he'd seen blood all of his professional career and was somewhat desensitized to it but it was still kind of shocking to see so much of it covering Veroen. Now, though, was not the time for questions. "Hey ... Meredith's awake now, we managed to save her and if you want to come see her then you may. She's asking for you and wants to see you. She's pretty choked up. She lost her children and she just came out of cardiac arrest so please try to keep her as calm as possible."

Veroen's sobbing immediately stopped, and his head snapped up.

"Wh-What? What did you say?" Veroen's face was overwhelmed by shock, and a hint of hope and relief was visible in his Void consumed eyes.

Without waiting for Elliot to escort him back to Edith, Veroen was in Edith's room in the blink of an eye, next to her gurney.

He looked down at Edith in disbelief. He did not take into consideration his appearance. He was still covered in blood, and his skin was completely black from the Void markings consuming his body.

However, when his eyes confirmed what he had heard, the Void markings thinned, and became the intricate markings they had once been. His normal eye returned to its natural color, and Veroen was speechless.

He wanted to embrace her, hold her, and kiss her. But he didn't want to hurt her any more than she was.

"Edith...? I thought I'd lost you...."

He stood there, frozen, not quite knowing what to do.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 26, 2009 9:23 am

"And you almost did," Gail replied with a serious note in her voice though her face softened into a smile as she saw Veroen enter the room. "I'll let you have some time to yourselves. I need to check up on Marcus anyhow." With that the medic left the room and Eliot had just been ambushed by another injured hunter.

The moment Veroen entered the room the hunter leader weakly turned her head in order to see Veroen. Under normal circumstances the blood would have been the first thing she noticed but it was not. Her nose was not seeking out the blood's scent and therefore she did not register that Veroen had sought revenge for her sake. She'd been mobbed by the humans, angry, afraid and she hadn't been able to fight back. She was supposed to protect them, not slay them and she'd tried to explain to them and tried to walk away but they just hadn't let her. "V-Veroen ..." A tiny smirk crept onto her face when he suggested that he thought he had possibly lost her. The embers in her eyes rising again, refusing to be smothered out by anything.

"Nah ... You haven't lost me. I'm right here where I belong ..."

She gazed at him through her tired, slightly hooded eyes and reached a hand out in attempts to touch him. However, he was too far away for her to touch and instead of asking him to come closer she merely held her hand out to invite him closer. She didn't want there to be any gap between them, any distance. A fence had separated her from her children, from her best friend but she refused to be held back and pulled away from Veroen. She wanted him and needed him next to her, close to her. She needed to know that this was real and that she wasn't having some dream or something though this seemed too vivid and too real-life-like to be a dream.

Veroen obediently took a few steps forward, until he was but inches from her. He took her hand, and squeezed it lightly between the two of his. Nothing else mattered, the blood all over him, the human lives he took that night, none of it mattered right now. what was important was that Edith was going to be ok.

Veroen knelt down next to the gurney, so that he was a little over eye level with her.

It was all surreal. He was sure that he'd lost her, and yet she prevailed against the odds.

Veroen couldn't have been more thankful.

"I don't know what to say..."
He said truthfully.
