(( Long over due and sorry, but this was a bit rushed. Internet being wacky. ))
The other man seem to be content with waiting, so Chu-chu might as well doing what he was doing. Making sure that the new medium-sized 'platform' was not connected to the ground without the need for more cutting of stone he used the blade to cut a similar type hole in the center of the medium-sized platform. This hole would be actually look like two. If it were human-made, it would be like straps to a shield held on one's shield.
He got off the platform and bent down to pick it up a la hold out a shield in front of him. Wobbling a bit as he picked it up. His next action would be the same as before. Except the scythe was used with only one hand this time. The single-handed would lessen force behind the blow, but he swung with a bit more force behind the hand. The idea would be the stone and dirt would be like the same as before except Chu-chu would be a bit off-balance from the force transference.

(( Once again long overdue. My apologies. s**t going on in reallife. ))
The man apparently liked playing leap frog backwards. Chu-chu would move forward and send more gravel in dirt and stone Kenji's way in the same manner as before. The slight difference was that Chu-chu wasn't making another shield. One thing to notice behind Kenji was a wall behind that both combatants were coming toward.

That they were most assuredly not.
While Chu-chu had been sporadically making advances while slinging mud, Kenji had done nothing to suggest an advance or a withdrawal. He simply moved when Chu-chu tried to get him dirty.
If this were to keep up as it had been, Kenji's side-hops would circle him completely around to the other side of Chu-chu... and that didn't facilitate any type of wall.

(( Sorry for the amount of time this is taking. I should be able to respond more quickly for now. ))
The gravel game of doom not working. Chu-chu slowly made his way toward Kenji in phalanx formation. Blade-half, blade-point pointing outward, in front of Chu-chu. Why he went in phalanx formation is a question only God can answer.

(( I think this may have been a failed experiment. ))
Of course, Kenji would wait in his prepared stance just as he had done until Chu-chu came to that point where he had already designated. The reach of the scythe was roughly one wide step further than the range of Kenji's katana; and for that purpose Kenji would wait until his opponent reached a distance of his own range plus one step.
Despite that it was assumed Chu-chu, with his wider attack range, would get in the first strike Kenji was using an offensive stance rather than a defensive one. The advantage of an offensive stance was that it allowed for the fast execution of initial attacks, but it left wide holes in his defense and if he were to break that stance he would be unable to perform at peak; for this reason it was not a means of charging at an enemy, but was instead a pose adopted once the distance between the samurai and the enemy had already been closed.
The young swordsman held tightly onto the hilt of the weapon held by his side. The sleeve of the haori on his right arm had been pulled up to the elbow, and the black leather chord twined around his arm creaked lightly against overlapping sections as the muscles underneath tensed in preparation.
Of course, all this is exposition as Chu-chu would have the privilege of acting until he stepped into that zone.

The very same reason as to why Chu-chu went into phalanx formation can be asked again as to why he went out of it. Two more of the gravel tactic would be performed as per usual. Any normal person would have seen to this to have been useless long ago. The first strike's position would not matter as much as the second strike. For the second strike would happen at precisely a little inside the range of the edge of Kenji's katana. Shield casually at his side.

And thusly, the waiting was over.
The first swing of the gravel tactic would be avoided as per the usual method; moving backwards roughly a foot and a half in a short hop while maintaining the precise hand and foot placement of the offensive stance that had been adopted.
It was the second swing that would change the way things were. Chu-chu set one foot inside of that circle and Kenji set into motion what he had been prepared to do since the very beginning. As the scythe tore a swath in the ground for another gravel strike, the swordsman took one wide step forwards with his right leg immediately beside the path that the scythe would follow. He swiftly brought his left leg in immediately after and moved it back to the precise position it had been... effectively taking a single step in his offensive stance; the most that such a rigid stance would allow at any time.
With his stance still preserved, and the katana held in perfect position by his side, the samurai finally made a move. The offensive stance held his weapon in perfect position to deliver an Iaido-style strike with the katana; delivering it at twice the speed that a normal slash would have come out.
Chu-chu held his phalanx shield casually at his left side. Kenji drew from his left. The shield would offer no protection as the swordsman delivered a vertical strike with the type of precision to be splitting hairs.
If the opponent had no weapon, he could not fight. If he had no arm, he could not hold a weapon. Kenji aimed to prove this point.

It was surely a grand technique. This would be the time for the time Chu-Chu to miraculously dodge the attack and/or turn this into a counterfest for 5 pages then proceed to argue over PMs for the next 14 years over who is right.
What would really happen would be Chu-chu taking the blow. In the process, either the the katana itself break, depending upon the force behind the blow, or the blade would travel upward to Chu-chu's armpit and stop at the cloth. This clown was wearing a specifically woven adamantium that was a few inches thick to help deal with bludgeoning-type blows as well. More than likely, not even a stratch appear on the cloth from the blade.
In the case of katana breaking, Kenji would be having to in recovery from the blow attempt. Warranting a horizontal sweep attempting at the knee level while the blade was traveling upward. Power behind intending to knock whatever is it's way, out of it.
In the case of the katana stopping and making kissy-face with his armpit. His clothed upper arm would squeeze inward to try to lodge/encompass the blade. His lower arm would try for a half arm make shift knee-level sweep of the above manner. New positioning of the lower arm would account for some of the general down direction, should the katana be pulled downward in an attempt to 'dislodge.'
(( Not exactly my best idea, but it was one of guy reactions. ))

The blade would not break.
Nor would it be pulled down in an attempt to 'dislodge' it from the clown's armpit.
To Kenji, there was clearly something wrong with this person; in every way that word could be construed to mean. That type of strike was prepared to sever flesh, bone, and even rend armor in two. For the clown-suit to stop it meant that it was made of something incredible... as was the clown's arm, if it survived as well.
For now it was no longer a question of who would strike first, it was a question of just how durable this clown was. To that end, Kenji moved to reclaim the distance he had given up when he moved in to strike. Leaping from the ground with his hand still on the hilt of his weapon, the young samurai jumped up in front of Chu-chu. His hand opened, swiveling across the end of the katana hilt as he twisted his body to the side, and he grasped it again underhanded just before delivering a swift kick to the chest to the clown.
Perhaps the sword would not be allowed to move up or down, or side to side, or to twist in place, but there was little Chu-chu could do to stop it from being pulled straight out - and so Kenji would reclaim full control over his weapon when he performed a flip backwards off of the ginormous clown's chest.

A jump up and the hand moving. This likely left the hand having a somewhat lessened gripping ability as it changed holding status. It was a small window of opportunity and with Chu-chu this close; it was hard not to see it. The lessened gripping power would be tested against the lodging power of Chu-chu's power and arm, which was fine.
This would be because Chu-chu's body quickly turned on its right, in the appropriate sided kickboxing stance with its knee bent slightly, so that he would be perpendicular to the incoming jump kick. The alignment of everyone and the sword would be like a kinda right angle
K K C C S S S C
His shielded arm would come into play as well. Quickly moving inbetween Chu-chu's body and the incoming kick. Locking his hand in place, he braced for the impact. The kick impacts with a great deal of force, breaking the 'shield' and lessening the incoming force about to impact Chu-chu. His arm was forced to Chu-chu's body which then the remainder of the force would force his body backwards. With his knee having been slight bent, it let his body be able to absorb the impact better. Making Chu-chu only need to take a couple of steps backward to recover his balance, ending in the same stance as before, while Kenji would be ending his flip manuever.
Aside from a now broken in two ground 'shield' inbetween the two combatants, Chu-chu was fine. Despite the likely possible sword 'lodged' in the armpit area.

Kenji was unfazed by the surprising fact that the incredible Hulk clown seemed to be taking impacts with likely a dozen times the force as his own little flip would have resulted in. He took everything in stride.
Landing properly from his jump the swordsman rebounded immediately and rushed towards the colorful behemoth with the same dispassionate vigor he had shown up until now.
There was a distinct absence of giant rock in Chu-chu's armament, which meant that the majority of Kenji's focus was upon the arm holding the scythe.

Now for the next feat that this clown was going to try against mr. flipping out. A casual standing with switching hands as far as holding his weapon went along with a quick soccer kick of one of the 'halfs' of the former shield at the charging man. The half being launched toward the top center region of the chest near the bottom line of the neck (( Don't know what it is called. ))
Why? Chu-chu thought this man needed some breast implants, even he himself looked ridiculous with a sword being held in his armpit area.
