A light ding sounded from the machine plugged into M.A.'s arm, and a little Chansey bustled in. The brunette smiled gratefully at the Happiness Pokemon, but still avoided looking at the transfusion paraphernalia that was being put away. Why the hell couldn't they use like, opague tubes or something? It looked so morbid clear. Like a vampire machine.
"Mary-Anne!" a quiet voice exclaimed from the doorway, and M.A. was delighted by a cautious awkward squeeze from her father, then a warm and enthusiastic one from Rein, Sae's fiance, who had also come in at this time. Mr. Rustings was every bit the bookworm, complete with graying brown hair, glasses, and proper scholarly attire, although it was a bit dusty. "It's good to see some color in your cheeks," he said, gingerly patting the girl's head. She looked every bit like her father, except that maybe her hair was a few hues darker and she had inherited her mother's sky blue eyes. "Yes..." the man trailed off, never one for words. "You need rest?"
"Nope! I feel better than a million bucks." Well, she still had a minor headache, but that could be easily overlooked. "How was it out there on the front?"
"Slateport's center is just about a mess," Rein sighed, slipping an arm around Saebum's waist. "We and other able-bodied folks," she said, sliding a teasing glance at her fiance, "were helping out clean up the debris and other general good deeds. Well, not where the stage is, there's some mad people there." A graver face, now. "It's about impossible to get into the PokeCenter, you know. Everyone's piling in here to reclaim their stolen Pokemon or get some help, so much so that Nurse Joy's had to send some hurt people and Pokemon to other cities by ambulance."
Diego had sketched the family in this very brief time. Mr. Rustings had a genial smile plastered over his simple face, Sae had an arm around a bodacious and winking Rein, and M.A. simply grinned like a little child, a telltale Houndoom tail sticking out from behind her legs. Mrs. Rustings sat contentedly in her husband's arms, being the petite woman she was. There was two oddities to this drawing, however; Mrs. Rustings was granted a third eye on her forehead with a six-starred pupil, and the rock pendant Saebum always wore grew a feathery, sheer wing which wrapped around himself and the adjacent M.A. The woman glanced over at the Smeargle's book, muted amusement running in her eyes. "You're quite the artist, and a curious one at that," she said. The Smeargle smiled his loopy grin before closing his sketchbook and locking it. He painted a new key each time, of course.

"..." Most people did not laugh after receiving such a blow. Especially when their face was already a mess. If there was anything that fully confirmed he was insane it was this, speaking as it he wasn't Mike. Clearly the stress, or perhaps all the blows to his head made him snap. Well, whatever. She wasn't against using force to subdue him, and she had tried to be reasonable. Without a word Kirsa closed the distance between them, clearly looking to aim a blow at Mike's face.

That's right. he thought, grinning as Kirsa charged. Just like everyone else, you try to just shove on through with your brute strength. Your kind never learns. With a strained grunt the boy caught Kirsa's punch at her wrist. Thankfully she had pretty short arms, but boy was she strong! He could barely hold her for a second before a second arm was swung in the direction of his face. "Now now!" he said accusingly, grabbing her other arm, visibly straining to keep the girl from overpowering him. "You're pretty tough girlie." he sneered. "I can tell who'll be the man in the relationship." No use, she would break free in seconds if he didn't think of something fast. A slight chuckle escaped as he thought of something downright underhanded and devious.
Sasha gasped as she saw Mike's evil smirk, remembering one thing from yesterday; an item Mike had that he used to help free her. "Kirsa!" the girl screamed. "Watch out, Mike's got gloves that can shoot fire! Get out of there!"
The boy tilted his head to the side, as if Sasha herself had given him the thought. "You know, I had totally forgotten about them." he lied, turning back to the little cadet. "But that's an excellent idea, I think I'll just do that!" With that, he activated his gloves and squeezed tight, leaning back and smiling, waiting for her to scream out in pain. She squirmed, fidgeted and cursed, but never screamed. "Well fine then!" He snapped. "If you won't scream then get out of my sight!" The boy threw his arms to the side and hopped into the air, throwing both legs out into a full force kick.

Serenity listened to Cynthia and held Kasiya tight as the other girl put Kasiya’s shoulder back into place with a sickening pop. After which Kasiya took off after Keegan, who had some how managed to get himself off the ground and hobble away from the conflict with Mike. ‘Well there goes those plans’ Sere thought. She gave a quick thank you to Cynthia for the help, and was about to run after Kasiya, when she got distracted by someone else attacking Mike. ‘Aww, no fair. She doesn’t have anyone to step in and block her.’ Although Mike at this point looked very amused at the thought of yet another person trying to attack him.
Sere recognized the girl from earlier, Kirsa she thought her name was, but she had no idea what her intentions were for attacking Mike. Sere stood there with Cynthia watching the whole thing happen. She burst out laughing when Kirsa head butted Mike right in the face, which prompted a strange look from Cynthia. But she couldn’t help it. It was an interesting site. Equally as interesting was the fact that he just laughed it off. Even with all the blood splattering from his face he didn’t really seemed phased by it.
Off in the distance she saw that Kasiya had caught up with Keegan, and she could hear the girl pleading for him to listen to her. Sere felt a twinge of sadness for the girl. All of this chaos because the rockets had decided that this group was easier to handle if they were separated. It made her sad to see that everyone was ripped apart because of bad intentions. Then again, it never would have happened if the bombshells that were laid on this group of friends had such weight to them. She watched as Keegan pulled Kasiya into a rough kiss, then through her roughly to the ground, and she was shocked by his violence. The only thing that topped that was the smell of something burning, and she turned to see that Mike had some how used the gloves he was wearing to burn Kirsa’s arms.
“My god.” She gasped.

"Oh god," Whitney said when she and the others materialized in Cerulean; "I don't know if I'm ever going to get used to this nauseating feeling that I get when we Teleport." She sat down on the the grass, attempting to compose herself. Sabrina stifled her laughter with a cough, as she recalled Oracle. "Now, let's see," she said, "Cerulean Cave is in the center-western-most area of the town, should memory serve. You two ready to head off?" Nina said she was. "But, how do you know where the cave is if you've never been there before?" Sabrina rolled her eyes a little, grinning. "Two reasons," she replied. "One, just because I've never been inside it, doesn't mean I don't know where it is. Two, there's only one cave in Cerulean City... well, unless you count Mount Moon, but that's a little before the city line." Getting to her feet, albeit slowly, Whitney composed herself. "Well then," she said, "let's get going!" There was no sense in the girls heading to the Pokemon Center first, as their Pokemon were all healed already.
Heading up an unusually empty Nugget Bridge, Nina and company looped around to the left, passing through the tall grass and managing to avoid encounters with the typically weak wild Pokemon in the area. Upon arriving at the small body of water which separated them from the cave's entrance, Nina released Aphrodite into the water, her group hopping on the Transport Pokemon's back and riding it to where they needed to go. Climbing off on the other side, Nina recalled her Pokemon, and stood before the cave's entrance. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She was about to enter the single place in the region that held the strongest wild Pokemon, and she didn't even have both of her most powerful Pokemon with her. But, and she had to keep reminding herself of this, she had a collection of very strong Pokemon that she had to believe in.
"Okay," she said, looking from Sabrina to Whitney and then back to the cave's entrance again, "let's do this."
And together, they walked inside.

She was slightly annoyed that he managed to catch both of her attacks, but no matter. When it came down to it, she knew she could overpower him, especially with the condition he was i- the sound of Sasha screaming was enough to break her concentration, causing the cadet to look over at the pink haired girl. His gloves could shoot fire...? Ridiculous, there was no such th-
Oh. Apparently there was.
Kirsa tried to jerk away, letting out a choice few curses which sounded jumbled between English and German. It didn't matter who you were, normal burns hurt badly enough, but this?! As soon as she broke free, there was a very good chance she was going to kill him for this, be he Sasha's friend or not.
Except she didn't get the chance to.
When he released her, even Kirsa had to spend a few moments recoiling from the pain, gritting her teeth and lowering her eyes to inspect the damage. Oh, that looked bad...but that was enough time for Mike to land his next attack. The thing about Kirsa was, while she was quite strong, she was still small and didn't really weigh as much as she should. So when the blow of the full force kick slammed into her, the cadet was sent flying right off the stage, colliding into a few of the still-standing chairs and skidding across the ground several feet before finally coming to a stop.
Kirsa was stunned for a few short moments, before letting out a quiet groan and pushing herself up onto her elbows."Nn...that fotze.." She was certain she had just acquired several more bruises in addition to the one on her face, not to mention the searing pain coming from her wrists..
Okay, it was official. Now she was going to kill him.

Sinnoh? he thought, looking out the window. He could hear people yelling and screaming still outside. It had to be because of Mike. The boy closed his eyes and smiled weakly. "I suppose," he said quietly, "I think getting a fresh start would be nice. I could leave behind all my Pokemon, except for Cable and Aggron, then start all over again." He nodded and winced from the pain of such a simple motion. Get a Chimchar from Rowan, he thought, get all eight badges. Trample over Cynthia...I could do it. He started to feel uncomfortable in the bed and moved ever so slightly to get into a better position. "What about you? I know you've got a lot of badges here," his smile had somewhat faded, "Are you going to keep trying in Hoenn or go on to Sinnoh with me?"

As Mazarin hopped up over the rock, he noticed a short purple haired girl fighting against Mike. It wasn't a Pokemon battle either; this was fist on fists on fire action. The boy, in a very animated maneuver, jumped back behind the rock. "Oh what the fun?" he said, peeking his head up, "They didn't tell me that Kyoka had fire powers!" Mazarin sank behind the rock and began to play with the tip of one of his wings. Banette floated around him, wondering just how they were going to get in close to take Mike into custody.
"I dunno, Banette," Maz said quietly. The puppet Pokemon was pointing in all random directions, talking through his zipped up mouth though none of the words were intelligible. "No, I'm not just going to waltz on in there! Kyoka would burn me alive and that purple haired girlie would rip me in two! I mean, look at her!" He poked his head up again, watching her land a solid punch on Mike, "She's ripped! She could beat up Giovanni's Machamp for all it's worth!" The boy tapped his chin.
"I got it!" he closed his eyes and imagined everything in very simple pictures, silhouettes of everyone instead of actual faces and features: "I'll just wait simply for Mike to fly away, then I'll have Murkrow chase after him with a camera. Once I find out where he's going, I'll mail myself there and when I get there, dahahaha!" He punched the air, feeling triumphant, "I'll smash him with my Shuckle!" The boy brought his fist down into his open palm.
"...Ooor, to save on postage," he watched the target carefully, "I'll just fly after him. Yes, yes, it's perfect!" Mazarin rubbed his hands together gleefully, "Oh yeaaaah."

"Oh mon Dieu!" Sasha screamed as she saw Mike rocket her friend into a pile of assorted metal. "No no no!" she cried, running at full speed towards her friend, trying her best to clear the chairs out of the way to get to Kirsa. "Êtes-vous bien?!" tears streamed down her face as she went to pick up her fallen friend, not caring in the slightest that she was getting blood on her favorite shirt. "We must get out of here!" Sasha said, looking over to Mike, who was waving his hand at the air in front of his face, probably to get the smell of Kirsa's burned skin out of there. It made her want to throw up. "Come on Kirsa, let's get you a Burn Heal! There is a PokeMart around her somewhere, now let's move!" It was Sasha's turn to be stern and authoritative, and she grabbed the cadet's waist and hurried her away, there would be no buts about it. Kirsa was hurt, and there was no way in hell she'd let those burns settle in, not if she had anything to say about it.
The girls ran off, Sasha stealing on last look at Mike before turning back. She just couldn't understand what was happening. This was unlike anything she'd ever experienced before.

Upon entering the cave, it was as if the air around Nina suddenly got tighter. There was just something about the general atmosphere that was incredibly unsettling. Was it the fact that a murderous psychopath was dwelling inside and they were going to attempt to stop him? Because, real Maorde or not, he was still insanely powerful. Or maybe it was the fact that she probably wouldn't be able to survive a few attacks by wild Pokemon inside. Heck, even the Pokemon that Whitney currently had with her were stronger than Nina's.
No. Dammit, I need to stop thinking so negative, she thought. They're as strong as I believe them to be. I can do this. I need to be strong right now, for my sake and for--
"HEY! SPACE CADET!" Whitney hollered back to her; she and Sabrina were already rather far ahead of her. "Are you just going to stand there and look dumb or are you coming with us?!" Damn it, now I'm taking after Sabrina. "I'm coming, hang on just a second!" Sprinting, she caught up with her sisters, already faced with an aquatic obstacle. Releasing Aphrodite back into the water, she and the others hopped on, her Pokemon navigating to dry land. They had passed a small island with a ladder on it, but Sabrina shook her head when asked if they should take it. "I don't feel Maorde's energy from that direction," she said. "Matter of fact, I don't feel much of any energy whatsoever from over there," she added. When they arrived on land, however, there were two ladders from which to choose; Sabrina concentrated for a moment and indicated to head toward the northern one. They climbed down. When they landed, they found themselves in a monstrous labyrinth of large boulders and more ladders. "Holy freaking crap, Batman!" Whitney exclaimed. "We're supposed to find our way through this crazy place?" Nina raised an eyebrow. "Evidently so," she replied. Sabrina raised an eyebrow as well. "Who's Batman?" she asked, lost.
Whitney shrugged. "Dunno."

Serenity watched as Mike kicked away the girl with the purple hair that he had just burned and then once again returned to his laughter. The horrible laughter that was once again fueling her rage. Even though she had just seen the fire come from the gloves in his hands, she still had to force herself to stand still and once again not attack him.
‘They’re gone Serenity. I watched them get swallowed up by one of the falling buildings. One of the falling, flaming buildings.’ Alex’s voice was soft. ‘If by chance the hundred pound blocks didn’t crush them to death, then the intense fire that is almost everywhere, would have.’
Sere blinked her eyes and tried to remove the picture of her older sister standing in front of her explain exactly how it was that her parents had been killed. To get the imagined picture of her parents on fire out of her mind, or the screams out of her ears. With out realizing it, and with out anyone there to actually stop her she was once again heading in Mike’s direction, with her arm raised high above her head.
“Get away from my parents!” She screamed with out realizing exactly what she was saying.

As Kilik shifted, his hands slipped from hers. Ah! But oh well. She folded her hands in her lap, strongly disliking the feeling of being in a wheelchair, but she knew if she were to stand up she'd crumple in seconds. But the sight of him there on the bed, so broken and in pain, it hurt. "You should have just let me heal you," Mitsu muttered, "Nothing bad would have happened." Only that you'd look a whole lot better than you do now. She had no idea how long he'd be bedridden and if he could go anywhere alone.
Before he could reply, she proceeded. "And who told you that?" Mitsu laughed, "And no. Right now, well, there's no way I can beat Tate and Liza. I already know it. It'd be an insult to go challenge them as I am right now." And it was true. She'd seen enough battles in thier gym to know how well the two fought together. And not only that thier Pokemon were incredibly strong. "Though I guess you could say I've got an advantage, growing up watching those two trample challengers." Another laugh, but it wasn't quite as heart-felt. She knew she'd been weak, but she'd get stronger. She'd have to have confidence. Everyone had been telling her so, but it didn't hit her until the events of today. Those who need advice rarely follow it.
Mitsu ignored the yelling and the comotion outside as best as she could. "With you?" Mitsu asked in return, "It'll be nice to travel with someone again. So sure, I'll have to take you up on that offer." She smiled. There may be someone know knows about this power there too. A whole new region, a fresh start.

"Blech." the boy said with a scrunched up nose. "Burning flesh is so gross." Blood wasn't a really pleasant smell either, but to be honest, the smell of melted skin never really appealed to him. Mike had been burned many, many times in his life, and no matter how familiar he was to the stench, it never got any less sickening.
"Get away from my parents!" an irritatingly familiar voice cried out, getting closer and closer.
The boy closed his eyes and let out a tired sigh. "Back again are we?" he said, turning to the girl, his tone that of extreme annoyance. Surprise, it was Serenity, back for another shot at taking him on. Who was this girl kidding? She must have been like, 90 pounds soaking wet. Hell, Kirsa at least had some meat on her arms. This girl looked like bending tin foil would cause her to sweat profusely. "I don't have time for this rubbish. Parents?" he raised an eyebrow at the girl's accusation, completely oblivious to its meaning. Well, it looked like the burn ward would be treating yet another person today.
"And while I hate the smell..." he said, raising his hand. His evil smile only curled upward more as he spotted a prime target: the girl's scrawny little arm, raised high with intent to bash his little head in. "I do but love the sound that goes with it." Without hesitation, not even for a laugh, bright red flames shot out from his hand, heading for Serenity's arm.

Kilik looked up to see Nurse Joy walk back into the room. He then looked at Mitsu and frowned. He didn't want his friend to go. "If you healed me, you'd be in a worse situation than I am in right now. I wouldn't want that," he explained. "I think a night's rest here will be enough for both of us. It'll be hard to move around quickly in the morning, but we'll be fine." He reached out a hand and went for hers, but missed, placing his hand on her knee. It was totally unintentional and he froze up for a minute. He took the stride and patted her gently. He fumbled up for her hands and held them for a moment before Nurse Joy wheeled her out of the room.
"Bye," he waved weakly and dropped his hand on the bed. He closed his eyes. Everything that happened today is going to make the future so much harder, he thought with a sigh. Then his dad's words came back to him. "A gamble?" he whispered, "Sure, sure. A gamble. If I treat everything like a gamble..." he started to fall asleep. "Then...I could..." A yawn escaped him.
He was out.

"Gah! Sasha, it's...I'm fine, you don't have to cry.." Though she wanted to go back and get even with the crazy boy, she knew as long as he had those gloves it would be almost impossible to do a head-on assault. Retreat was the only option for now. The cadet held onto her pink haired friend, stumbling slightly as they went along. "...But...aren't Burn Heal for Pokemon? I didn't think they were meant for human use." If they could be, however, that would certainly be a useful little tidbit of information to remember.
"Regardless...once that has been taken care of, we should look for people who may be injured and need help." Still focused on her duties, even though she wasn't actually a soldier yet.

"So, Ms. Compass, where do you suggest that we go now?" Whitney asked, still a bit astounded at how big the place was. It didn't look that big at first, but it was evidently much larger than she originally anticipated. "Watch the tone," Sabrina said, lightly backhanding the girl on her arm. "I'm sensing an energy from... the southwestern ladder, I believe? That direction feels right." With no disputes on the direction that they should take, the girls headed from their current position-- the northeastern ladder in the room-- and tried to navigate about, around the rocks and traps in the room.
"So, when we find Maorde, how exactly are we going to be able to battle him?" Nina asked. "What do you mean, Nina?" "Well I mean, I'm sure we can entice him into battle fairly easily, but he doesn't exactly fight fair. He'd rather have his own Pokemon attempt to kill us before fighting with the ones that we have." Sabrina pondered for a moment. She bit her lip, and spoke. "It could be a bit of a gamble, but I have an idea." "What's that?" "Don't worry about it. You'll find out when the time comes." Nina didn't like the sounds of that, but she didn't question her sister's motives.
After traveling for some time, and not a single wild Pokemon encounter-- which Nina found quite odd-- the trio found themselves at their destination. They each climbed down the rungs of the ladder; Sabrina first, then Whitney, and finally Nina. Looking around at the new area which they were in, it was comprised mainly of land, save for a small section which required Surf to get across. As if on cue, the psychic released her Pokemon into the water, it Surfing to get them to the other side. In the middle of the transportation, however, Sabrina seemed to sense something. "I feel an extremely strong presence nearby," she said, getting goosebumps. "Well, that's Maorde then, right?" Whitney asked. It made sense to her. Sabrina was feeling uneasy, but she shook it off. "It must be," she agreed.
The trio dismounted the Lapras yet again, and Sabrina looked around as they walked about, but she was rather quiet for a time. "This is extremely unusual," she commented, after a while. "Maorde had a safe haven in the last cave that he inhabited, but... I don't see any type of man-made establishment inside here, and we do appear to be in the deepest part of the cave. I don't see any more ladders or anything." Nina noticed that as well. "That's true," she replied, "and have either of you noticed that there've been no wild Pokemon inside here at all? Why would Maorde make his training place inside of a cave with no Pokemon and no place to stay safe from them?" Whitney nodded in agreement. "Yeah. It's like everything in here was just... totally wiped out. It's really unnerving." She paused for a moment. "Wait. Sabrina, you said you felt an energy down here. That means that Maorde must be here, because you're too powerful of a psychic to have a misreading." Sabrina seemed bothered. "I know," she replied. "Then what..." She paused, squinting, spotting something in the distance. "Is that--"
She didn't finish her sentence before the figure in the distance slowly rose. It had two short upstanding ears, as well as a thin, humanlike frame. On two skinny arms, it had a hand at the end of both, with three digits on each hand. It stood on two tall, slim legs. A very long, purple tail swayed back and forth behind it. And its eyes glowed the most intimidating shade of red as it let out a menacing laugh.
"Oh my god," was all that a temporarily frozen Sabrina could muster. "We need to get out of here. NOW." She quickly snatched Whitney's and Nina's hands before they could protest, and swirled around to run off.
But, the Pokemon had Teleported directly behind them.
"Leaving so soon?"
