Yep. It's a big asylum that Alice was sent to; she imagined everything and the patients were the cast.
This is later, Alice is gone, some of the cast is the same but others are brand new people.

Um, kind of... Alice gave names which stuck, the cast varies between seeing a Wonderland and a cold dark asylum depending on who it is.
