Reeve tilted his head a bit as he looked at her. "I see... Did I embarrass you?" He lifted his hand up, gently running it down her face. Then he gently lifted her face and looked once again into her eyes. His blue eyes were so light they looked almost silver, and seemed to glow. "I am sorry if I made you uncomfortable... I was mearly speaking my mind. I've spent all night looking at the sky, but having seen something more stunning the stars no longer interest me." Hhe blushed a bit as he let his hand drop. "Perhaps I need to learn when to hold my tounge..."

The touch of his hand on her cheek was almost intoxicating. Looking at him again as his hand willed her to, she smiled brightly. "Yes, though it is a discomfort that I find acceptable. Now I envy your boldness to recite such a compliment as I find myself at a complete loss for what to say in return. How is it that your heart guides you to such kind words?" she asked softly, bringing her hands over her chest, resting the fingers of one hand on her lips respectfully. Blue eyes shown brightly wanting to observe and cherish the moment as he looked so happy.

"I am glad..." Reeve smiled at her as he tilted his head. "My heart? I do not know, actually. The words came to me when I saw you, and had seen something to compare. My Mentor always told me that the sky was the most beautiful thing I would ever see... but my heart tells me he is lying. How it does this, I know not..." He gently grabbed her hand, wanting to feel her touch. "... But I am glad the heart speaks so."

With a gentle touch, she squeezed his hand with her own. Smiling up at him, she moved her other hand to his cheek, curling her fingers over to caress his cheek for a moment before moving her hand to the back of his head. Allowing her fingers to run through his hair for a moment, she felt herself moving closer to him, lifting herself on her toes slightly, placing her lips close to his. "If I may be so bold.."

Reeve wrapped his arm around her body, still holding her hand. Leaning down, he met her at the walfway point and with a smile replied, "You needn't even ask, Ziven." Without any more words being exchanged her kissed her deeply, running his hand up and down her back while pulling her close to him.

Together they held each other. Ziven had not felt so complete and at peace with herself since she had left her master. Slowly she lowered herself to her feet again, keeping her body close to his, her fingers still gently feeling his hair, blue eyes gazing merrily in to blue-gray eyes. "It is not that I seek permission but do not want to .. impose, to take too much .. Like the others before you who caused you pain. I desire to love you, to keep you company, to protect you and see that you are happy. It would not be possible to do those things if were to become greedy for your affection despite the fact that I can willingly admit I believe I could be quite content in your presence for a very long time."

"I would rather you become greedy for my affection than purposefully distance yourself." He smiled to her, despite the sadness that showed in his eyes for a second when she mentioned the ones who had used him. The sadness only remained for a moment, perhaps Reeve had managed to control his eyes like he did his voice. "The other people who used me used me for what I am, not who I am. They saw what I could do, and used it to whatever advantage they wanted. You are not the same. You seem to care fore me for who I am." His eyes looked as if they glowed as he held her, happy once again.

"So many things to learn about each other .. I truly look forward to knowing you better." she said quietly. Again she lifted herself and kissed him gently for a short moment before resting herself on the ground again. Her clothes, however, were not at rest and had not been for some time now, the energy from her emotions gently pulling and pushing the fabric that dressed her. "You have shown me more kindness than anyone before has, you are as handsome outside as you are inside and you accept me for who I am." she said softly. Though once she said this her smile faded and her eyes shown sadness and worry. "If I were to have done something bad .. to someone else .. on accident .." she trailed off, not sure if she even wanted to go down this path tonight.

"As do I, as do I..." Reeve looked at her and smiled, then they kissed again. Though this one was shorter, it still made him very happy. "I could easily say the same for you Ziven..." Reeve watched the smile on her face disappear, and he tilted his head. Before he could ask what was wrong, she basically answered his question. "I would tell you a hundred worse things that I have done... and if it were an accident then it would matter even less. Why do you bring such a thing up?"

"Because recently .." she stopped for a moment, trying force herself to be calm when saying this but the more she spoke the more she realized her effort was futile. "Recently I .. I took the life of a child. It was an accident I swear, I knew not that he was so fragile or I would not have .." she buried her face against his chest, crying quietly. Trying to force herself to stop only made it worse. Feeling ashamed of herself for breaking down like this, she tore herself away from him, turning her back to him. "My apologies. I honestly do not mean to be so upset but I was such a fool that day." Lowering her head, she touched her glasses which disappeared without a sound and took out a handkerchief to dry her face with, still trying to calm herself from what she felt to be a near psychotic episode.

Although he was curious on how this event unfolded, he saw that speaking about it pained her greatly. Dropping the whole thing he wrapped his arms around her from behind, gently kissing her cheek. "As I said before, I could tell you many things that I have done worse. Death is nowhere near as bad as it seems to be..." He squeezed her a bit, closing his eyes. "But it is alright to be a bit upset. You have never really killed, to my knowledge at least. The act is new to you, and seems disgracefull... but it is not."

It was nearly impossible to continue feeling bad when there was a caring, supportive person with her. Bringing a feeling of comfort, she felt a renewed strength building within her. "Death is but the greatest adventure to the organized mind a wise man once said to me." she said softly, leaning against him. The tears had finally stopped, her face again was dry but the sadness lingered, both in mourning for the young one and for anger toward herself for breaking down. "I was being tested and I failed miserably. Never in my life have I failed on such a level. It is not that I am ashamed of the failure but that my failure cost someones life. This is the first time I have taken the life of another sentient being, I have killed for food before .. it is not the same." she said in a smooth tone, trying to be strong in the face of falling apart. Gently she leaned her head back against him and held his arms with her hands as he held her from behind. "I do not deserve such kindness in the wake of such a terrible mistake."

Reeve tilted his head and looked at the sky for a moment. "A wise man indeed..." He then looked at her from the corner of his eye and smiled slightly. "Would you rather have failed and killed one, or would you rather it be succeed but at the price of many? And no, killing for food is not the same." He smiled slightly, watching how this death seemed to torment her so. Though the concept was simple enough for a person to grasp, Reeve could not seem to understand her pain. Nuzling her, he spoke. "If you do not deserve this kindness for one thing that you have done, then by all means we should never even have talked for the things I've done. Killing one... is not that bad."

"A child though?" she asked quietly. Slowly, carefully, she turned herself to face him again, gently wrapping her arms around his waist. Blue eyes looked up at him pleadingly, wanting to know if the killing he had done was as senseless as hers in that taking the life of children.

"My mentor once told me; 'Relax kid. If anythihng, you helped make sure that child never experianced true pain. You liberated him from this hell we call life.'" Reeve sighed a bit, remembering that day. He atched Ziven for a moment, hoping that she ewould not think of him differently for what he was about to say. "My mentor's first test was to see how well I could control my anger... of course he didn't tell me that. I was simply left outside a town that I had been to long ago... one that viewed me as a monster. I think i was about eleven..." He trialed off for a moment, then suddenly snapped back. "Anyway, the people in the town were all but nice to me. The threw rocks, they proded me with blades and weapons, they did everything they could to make sure I knew I was not wanted. Finally, someone got close enough for me to kill. I snapped his neck with my bare hands..." Sighing again, he let go of Ziven and pulled away a bit. "I failed... rather horribly actually. My anger controlled me, and very few people survived. My first kill was but a small child who was simply doing what his father did." He closed his eyes, not wanting to see things right now. The darkness had been a comfort for him always...
