I preformed lude acts to make money, then I went and laundered the money, and invested in stocks, and then did some major insider trading with Conrad Black. Now I'm a Cashier, though I havnt bought any Warhammer with that money yet.

I work hard for my things and when I can't meet the month's ends I just hide in a dark alley and rob the first person to think of me as a prostitute.

I have you all beat.
I work at Wendy's.
And to remain on topic, I have a question for all you Basilisk owners out there. I really like the look of the chassis for the thing, and I may just use that as the basis for my Chimera Transport conversion. However, I need to know just how low the gunnery platform is set in the thing. Basically, without the platform for the gun itself, how much of a standing Gaurdsman is exposed?

Er, you know the basilisk is *on* a chimera chassis right?

It's the same, yet different - the Chimera appears to, by default, require a turret instead of just a hatch like on the Basilisk. That's one factor that draws my attention. Furthermore, the Basilisk has a flat area on the back inside the actual chassis, where the Chimera has it's top hatch and Lasgun ports.
Trust me, I know what I think I'm doing.

The difference between the two kits is the part that goes on the top of the tank. That's why it's on the Chimera chasis. It is based on the Chimera design template, but is not a Chimera.

I don't mean to ignore you or anything Mr. Gafencu, it's just that I have neither a Chimera nor a Basalisk, so I can't really help all that much. sweatdrop
Well, Xenos has played his first ever game of Warhammer 40K this last Saturday. I played to Leman Russ's, a Platoon with two infantry squads, a squad of grenadiers, my HQ command squad, and a squad of sisters of battle just to fill in some points. (Also, one of the Russ's was proxied by a Predator for the same reason.) So my fifty men and two tanks were up against roughly twenty; a squad of chozen with a lieutenant and two squads of Bezerkers. It was a 1200 point game.
In the end, I was completely decimated, every last unit I had completely ripped to shreds in close combat. It was kind of annoying that my two Russ's missed five out of the six shots that they collectively got... A couple of cool things happened in it though. For instance, my Platoon command squad was destroyed when fighting one of their Beserker squads in CC, so only their Aspiring Champion and my Commissar were left alive, so after they fought and the Champion died, I assaulted his squad of Chosen with my lone Commissar. He killed one of the three that had died. Another one died by Hunter-Killer to the face. xp Also, my Senior Officer was my last unit alive, and he was trapped in CC against the other Aspiring Champion. The SO with 2 wounds took 6 damage, and the AC with 1 wound took 3 damage, so they both were killed three times over simutaneously!
It was a really fun game and it makes me want to go back and play again, which makes me really glad. 3nodding

I want to say the tread guards would come up to somewhere between the shoulder and waist of a normal guardsman, but I'm basing that on distant memory of my own looted basilisk (thusly, filled with Orks). It would be pretty hard to pass off as a Chimera, if that's what you intend to do, rather than VDR it or some such.

Just be sure to back em up.

Reddemon Remember, conscripts, conscripts, conscripts! Cheaper and you can afford more men. Just be sure to back em up. In a Death Korps army? I'm trying to find alterior ways of getting my points (at least for now) that won't cost so much. I'm just trying to boost my way up to 1850 so I can participate in one of their tournaments.

Unless you plan on going for an Armored or Mechanized force, you're talking about not participating in a tournament for a while. However, the best point sink I can think of is Stormtroopers - a 4+ Save and a plenty of special weapons makes for a good unit, and you can easily squeeze it up to about 130 points with a Veteran Sarge, weapons, and gear. Commissars would also work great as well. Purchase five of them, and you're talking maybe sixty bucks for 200+ points worth of awesome. Honestly, Commissars for your 2 Command Sections, Commissars for your Squads, and a Commissar for your Grenadiers means a lot of points and a lot of men that won't budge and will be able to smash apart a thing or two in close combat with extra Powerfist and Power Sword blows. A Chimera might also be a good idea, to give you some speed and mobility with your infantry base.
Stormtrooper Squad w/ Plasma, Meltagun, Vet Sarge and Plasma Pistol/Power Sword - 141 Points 5 Commissars, 3 with Power Swords and 2 with Powerfists. -255 Points Chimera with Heavy Bolter x2, Storm Bolter, and Hunter-Killer -105 Points
The UK has lovely Steel Legion Commissars on sale for about 13 bucks per, and just the bodies for 8. It's not a bad deal, since the Steel Legion Commissars have the wonderful Gas Masks that the Krieg have.
Oh. And the Basilisk. It's not like I'm leaving the Earthshaker on there. I plan on taking it out, smoothing out the interior, and building up the sides of the chassis around the resulting gap. Basically, something along the lines of the old school Bren Carriers.

Well Josef, you could take a look at this vehicle conversion guide here to see how a Basilisk will look like without its gun.
