"A cruel mockery," Emelyn said- repeating Zach's intonation exactly- and adding none of her own to those three, poignant words. She sat, her body fallow and her mind swimming, for what seemed to be a very long time, before she spoke again- her eyes still upon that ocean of ink.

"Do you need help finding your way back to the village? Based on the way you're staring, it looks like you don't see very well in the dark..."

"I'd be happy to." With that, the damsel took the arm of the dragon... and led him through the dark jungle. She left him on the edge of the village- for at that mark, she would go no further.

"Take care of yourself, okay?" She stopped short of saying 'I worry about you'- for that might be seen as condescending or patronizing. Instead, she held it steady in her mind as she left him to the subtle lights of the village.

Chubbs had headed to the beach once more, looking to get some relaxation. After the whole change with Joliette, He headed to the one place that relaxed him a little bit more than most places.. the beach. He guessed it was the thought that the rest of the world just lay beyond a tonne of water.

Walking bare foot, or rather bear foot now days, he wore his nice baggy black cargo shorts and his black T- shirt with the words " Don't give my floppy any megabytes, and i'll give you a hard drive" written on it. Hiding his face from the sun under his cap, he wagged his tail, shuffling along the beach sand and enjoying a lit cigarette.

Chubbs looked up from under his cap and realised he wasn't alone either, not that he didn't mind company, he just liked to have alone time sometimes. He wondered if he'd seen her before, she looked awfully familiar. Then it accured to him, since the girl wasn't dripping wet and covered in just her sleepwear, Madison was hard to reconise at first.

Chubbs smiled and waved with a clawed hand, but his smile shrank a bit when she snarled at him. He nearlly charged her right then and there, his body tensed up, for if she wanted a fight, she got one. Chubbs tried to shake it off. He blinked and looked down at himself, it had been a while, and he'd changed since he'd seen her last. He held his clawed hands in the air, trying to look unarmed.

" Woa!.. hey ah.. Madison? right?... it's me...Chubbs... umm remember?"

Chubbs tossed his cigarette aside and looked at his hands and looked at the claws on him that could have been used for carving knives.Madison had every right to act the way she did, god only knew what he'd look like with more time to come.

Rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, he made his way over slowly towards the fox girl. She certainly looked better all dry and fluffyin the sun, he tried not to remember how he found her the first time.

" Yeah ah.. I kinda do that now days... I don't blame ya"

Chubbs shook his head and sighed, it was true, he couldn't even trust himself now with his rabid temperment. Had she just attacked him, he might have turn her apart with out meaning to.

" I can understand hun, don't worry.. I'm not offended, probably best ya made sure anyway. These blasted animal genes keep messin me up bad. I'll try to be the same guy ya knew back in the snuggle pile though"

He chuckled lightly and he blushed a bit.

Chubbs looked up at the sky and admired the view for a minute. Madison was too distracting, now in a swim suit? what was next, seeing her in her undies? I wouldn't surprise him, he'd seen the bulk of the female population in next to nothing, least he thought so.

He looked back to her when she mentioned hunting, for him it was a lot worse. Chubbs didn't want to scare her away right now, he wasn't sure what was the best thing to say.

" Umm.. well, had the urge to hump everything that moves..."

He smirked then chuckled

" No no.. umm.. I've been eating a fair bit lately, and had some... well temper problems... though I'm doing okay.. keeping an handle on it"
