it's time once again for (where's that spooky font when you need it?) IT CAME FROM 94.5thefox.com
Cure for Coughing
A young man had a terrible cold and couldn’t stop coughing so he went to the nearby drug store to buy some cough medicine. Not knowing which brand was the best and with all of them claiming to do different things, he asked the guy’s opinion that was working behind the counter at the pharmacy.
It was the employees first day on the job and he really didn’t know which one was better and didn’t even know if any of them would even help the customer but the pharmacist was extremely busy and he didn’t want to bother him, not to mention that he wanted to impress the pharmacist since it was his first day.
He went searching the aisles of different medications and brought back a bottle with no label on it, handed it to the customer, and told him to drink the entire bottle right away. The customer thanked the new employee, paid for the bottle, and drank the entire content before leaving the store so that he could get immediate relief from all the coughing, and headed home. The pharmacist was impressed that his new help was able to handle the situation on his own and walked over to him and asked him what he gave the customer to take care for his coughing problem.
“Laxative,” he replied.
“What!” exclaimed the pharmacist. “You can’t give him laxatives for a cold!”
The guy says, “Well I’ll bet that he’ll be afraid to cough now! So his coughing problem is taken care of!!”

CrazyRob I don't know. I think some people just think guys should have short hair. Maybe it's professional reasons or well-groomed reasons or whatever. I don't know. But, I was determined to get a job without having to cut my hair. If you're the strongest candidate for the job, it shouldn't matter how long your hair is. You should sue for sex descrimination if you really have to cut your hair to get someone to hire you. pirate It's not the people that won't hire that discriminate. It's the general public, and we obviously must cater to their stereotypes to make money. Personally, if I was the hiring manager at my office and Yumi applied there, I wouldn't hire him. This is insurance man, only bankers are more conservative than we are. Besides, the older I get, the more I see guys my age cutting their hair anyway. Even the ones that get jobs where they can have long hair still keep it short.

thefurnace CrazyRob Er...what kind of job are you trying to go for? People told me I'd have to cut my hair if I wanted a job in the "real world" but I told them that the people will like/hire me for me and it shouldn't matter how long my hair is. I got a job working for a police department and my hair is down towards the top of my butt area. People couldn't believe it! 4laugh There's a list of people who've threatened me if I cut my hair. sweatdrop Unfortunately, I lost a chance to teach English in Japan because I showed up to the interview with long hair (even though it was tied back). Apparently studying Japanese for 4 years in college and working as a teacher previously doesn't mean anything as they spent the entire session questioning me as to why I have long hair, whether I'd cut it (which I said I would) and things like that. And how much do you know about Japanese culture? If there was a society more conservative than the baby boomers here, it's them.

Like it or not kids, we ALL stereotype. Actually discriminating against someone is another story, but we all make a mental judgement just by looking at someone. The reason is simply that in our life experiences, these stereotypes are generally true.
So consider that all of 30 years ago, the ONLY men that had long hair were extremely rebellious troublemakers. Think hippies and motorcycle gangs.
Did either of these groups of people actually improve the business world in the eyes of the business people running companies? Nope. Of course, men in the 80s grew their hair a bit but they were sure as hell groomed and dressed to the nines so they got away with it - sort of.
But still. The conservative mindset is still very much in control of the business world. Give it another 20 years or so and see if the long haired men can buck the stereotype of the previous generation.
Until then you just have to realize you look like a lazy slob with a bad attitude and cut your damn hair. ;D

Because. You already have a job that allows you have longish hair, and some hair is better than no hair. biggrin
Besides, it's not -my- stereotype but the -general- stereotype.
Oh and that story on coughing makes me wanna do my own research next time I need any medicine. o.o

i agree with kiss. i don't think guys know how to maintain long hair as well as women, so when i see a dude with hair up to his shoulders or anywhere past that, i get disgusted pretty quickly. i think any guy can rock a short hair cut and look hot as ********.
also, its true that no one is going to take you seriously in the corporate world if you have long hair. there's only a few places that will let you get away with it. i'm in real estate, a business that's all about appearances...and long hair just isnt done. it just looks cheesy.

CrazyRob What about printing it, getting someone else to change it to a B, and then showing it to your mother when she asks to see it? You wouldn't actually be lying if you don't say a word about it. twisted [There's a killer on the road...]
My mom considers not telling someone something lying. D:

It also doesn't take up as much room on the computer as those other fancy programs. You should delete those other fancy programs and only use Paint. razz [There's a killer on the road...]
