Joined a leadership academy at school to learn a few things and see what they have to offer. It seems to be not all that bad but they keep saying you get four semesters to finish it so it sounds a little harder than I'm probably assuming. Hopefully, I will learn a lot for the future.
Also going to start an Honor Society at CSULB for biology majors to try and liven the science community. I got an official list of all the clubs, societies, and fraternities at Cal State and there isn't anything for science. Nothing for math, chemistry, physics, or biology. But we have a myriad for liberal arts.
http://tri-beta.org/I have a meeting with the Student Life coordinator so I can sign my life away to the school. I'm going to create the website this summer and try and sign up for week of welcome maybe to get the word out. Possibly a bunch of business cards and a lot of letters to induct people in. My main goal is to start a legacy at long beach, one that strengthens all the science programs, if not just biology. Maybe my society will spark an interest in other people to start other science related things and/or make people try harder so they can get in. Trying harder = higher GPA = more people from our school getting into graduate schools.
I'm also on the board for MAPS, a pre-health club. Very legit and organized, it's one of the best clubs that I've seen. Runs very efficiently and I'm excited to be apart of it.
Other than that, just studying for the next two days straight for my biology final. Hoping for the best and then I'll finally be able to work on my migraines (or whatever they are, I have numbness on my whole left side).
Oh, I also write for a blog and I'm going to try and get my first post up sooner than later. Of course, waiting until finals are over. I collected all the data for the last two weeks though.
http://www.premedhell.com/Basically, I've done a lot since April.
smile And Sami and I three year anniversary was on the 16th. We're celebrating this Sunday because of finals.
