Wow. That...wow. It must be taken with a grain of salt, though, as screen shots always always look better than the final product (or they do in most cases).
All the same, I liked the little details, mostly in the runes and markings around the power sword and the hatches on the drop pod.

They've definitely improved the shape of the Tyranid models.

Correct, as denoted by the lack of sentence structure and all lower-case letters and size twelve font.
I can't really troll anyone here since pretty much everyone has seen me post before.
While they look shiny and spiffy, I still think that having a large army sort've detracts from the whole "tactical small squad based combat."

but having tyranids w/o swarming is kind of a big let down for most nid players
and the other guy never gets to do the "BUGS!" thing while looking at a swarm

There still looked to be a decent swarm of the runty-bugs too, though. If the focus is on the more 'Zilla side of it then they'll still be more swarmy than others.

I can already imagine the defence scenario in the campaign where the marines are forced to hold a position until a Thunderhawk arrives, forcing them to gun down hordes of gaunts as time runs out.
cheesy as hell but so worth it seeing it done digitally.

Hell yes. Of course, in that swarm, there'll be the necessary Zillabugs to screw with heavy weapon emplacements.

well... in the campaign you will not actually be able to play as the 'Nids so it would not detract from the "a few squads-tactics" as that comment was directed at the Marines and not their adversaries. 3nodding Also, Relic/THQ also said that the multiplayer part will include basebuilding, so I can't see why it wouldn't wouldn't include larger sized armies as well. They won't announce much on the multiplayer front until later this year, sadly, so we will have to wait and see what they have in store for us. If you have the time, then I strongly suggest you download this podcast and listen it through to the end. It's got some great information about the game, in it. Here's the link to the download site: Command Prompt Podcast - DOW2

Picked up the Firestorm over Kronus mod, I'm still getting used to the wide-out view and the weird circumstances in which it'll let you reinforce.

That said, it presents more accurate to Codex unit balancing and costs. A unit of Black Templar Crusaders cost 900 Requisition. They reinforce a bit slowly, and capture slowly. In comparison, a unit of Guardsmen cost much less and reinforce a lot faster. They die like punks. This is splendid for having a greatly expanded unit list and re-balanced units, but awful if you're afraid of deviance from the Dark Crusade balancing system.
P.S.: I love Noise Marines. ^^
