Your post would make a lot more sense if you were right. Unfortunately, you're very wrong. 60$ titles don't make enough money back to promote the industry in meaningful ways. This isn't me arguing with you because I feel like I have a better opinion, this is me just relaying the facts of the matter.

You are making no sense...

Call of Duty shits on your facts...

Edit:

I am coming off belligerent but I don't mean to...

I'm just having fun with this discussion.

Oh man, you hit me with the counter-strike of console gaming. Because a series of games that essentially has a monopoly on the console fps market is really the standard and not an exception to the rule. < sarcasm

But several series fall under that catergory... any and all sports games, the final fantasy series, zelda games, mario games, fighters of all kinds....

Dead space, Devil May Cry....

I mean should/need I go on?

Nintendo is always on the ball. Best faring console of the big three. Wii kicked a** because it was really on top of that casual gamer s**t. Sports games are middle of the road in that they are predictable sellers, but aren't amazing. You could make a whole business of just making sports games and people do, but its still making you less money than the micro transaction model... and you can still buy additional stuff in that anyway.

Don't think FF has really been that successful lately. DMC is probably going to be ok.

Not as good as Angry Birds though. Not as good as League of Legends.

CoD currently relies on retards who like the brand to come back for what is essentially the same game again, redone with slightly better graphics.

Also, said retards pay out the a** for a subscription fee (on console, lol Xbox), and to constantly buy 15 dollar map-packs.

I bought CoD Elite for MW2 and I think it was a great deal all things considered. That made it about 120$ though. 60 for the game roughly and 60 for Elite.

I bought Black Ops 2 as well but... just couldn't get into it as much. I liked the campaign and all the multiple cutscenes/endings depending on your choices and the multiplayer was ok but it was just lacking a certain something. I like being able to make a completely custom multiplayer kit though. That's awesome.

This discussion shifted from facts to opinion. lol

If triple AAA games were not making money, why would EA, Ubisoft, etc make them?

Business is about making money, so....if these games were not making money...why would they...release them?

Medal Of Honor (huge sales) Halo 4 HUGE SALES, HOMEFRONT (big sales), Call of Duty doesnt have as big of a hold on the market as people think.

[M.o.h. Warfighter was a terrible game however and did not match the sales of the earlier release. Avoid it, unless you want it really bad. Dont pay more then bargain price. EA has officially announced it being out of the rotation.]

On the subject of Nintendo, our Mario mass producing friend NEEDED the success of the wii, after the horrific failure of the Game cube, without Wii success they would have probably disappeared. They arn't in a great position with the Wii U, a console that should have been released a few years back. Nintendo has good first party stuff, and fan loyalty. They don't have much else. Their lack of support for third party and an online store for the Wii was just poor business. They have taken baby steps into the solving these issues with the Wii U, but in online and third party support they are still miles behind Playstation and Xbox

Jumping subjects: (for all the A.D.D kids)
Black Ops 2 was designed for more balanced and tournament play, this is the Lacking most people are feeling. Feel the online maps lack something? well its because to balance both sides, they had to make each side a near replication of the other. A lack of weaponry? once again, easier to balance out less weapons.
But most of all, If you only play shooters things get samey, and Call of duty hasn't changed much over the years, so its pretty much the same game. Its not by any means bad, but its not the pleasant surprise MW was, nothing will = that first time experience in most peoples minds.
Treyarch did a good job with the single player tho, certainly changed things up enough to encourage me to buy it, even if the futuristic style got Activision sued for several million.

Well it's less "NOT MAKIN' GAMES, SOLD SHARES TO BECOME TUNA FARMER" and more "oh hey this selling skins things works really good, let's sell multiplayer maps".

Could they get by without DLC? Sure. Would they be losing out on a bulk of money for no good reason? Absolutely.

As for on-disc DLC, pfft, oh well. People have been buying discs and not being able to access all the content on them since... forever. Any time you ever bought a game but had to buy like some gay a** Walkthrough book from Brady Games to find the code for a special character recolor or item? Same s**t. Nothing new at all.

Except I could either walk into the store, flip through, write down the code, and leave. Or I could go online, which had many a cheat code. Especially gamefaqs.

You're right. Let's stop making stores because people can steal from them.

Forget that other 99% of well adjusted people who aren't scum. They'll have to make due scavenging in the wilds.

But no one makes a profit off selling cheat codes anyway. The only store that cares somewhat about them and other magazines are Gamestop, and they're better off trying to promote the next big game. Meanwhile, places like Walmart and Walgreens just throw it on their shelves for more variety.

There was a time when this was a debate that had some points to be made, but it looks more like a battle of "i disagree, look at my clever statement or retort" instead of actually making a point that goes towards the discussion itself.

Judging by the comments being made it just seems that we got (mostly) two camps, the people that want to pay 60 dollars and get all the content on the disc, and there are people that be happy paying upwards to an additional 120 dollars just to get an unlock code to release all the content already on the disk they paid full price for.

Call me old fashion, but i always thought if you bought an album of a band you deserved all the 14 songs on the disk, not the first 11 and have to pay for the other 3 as an additional $5.99. Or when i buy a PC is runs for more then a hour before asking me for $1.99 for an additional hour of use.

Additionally....WALGREENS!? (seriously never heard of it)

-i looked it up, and i have to say Walgreens has one of the most hideous websites i have ever seen. BUT they do have a tab/category labelled SEXUAL WELLNESS, which earns them some cred.
