Alice was sat happily at the Ravenclaw table, the Prefect's badge shining from the lapel of her uniform, waiting for the Sorting to begin. Naturally she'd stopped to say hello to her multitude of friends along the way before she found herself a seat near the center of the table. Of course that was the best place from which to greet any students who joined their table. The blonde was glad to be back at her favorite place, though she already had a great deal of things on her mind. This year was their O.W.L.s and she had a TON of studying to do, but also she had the Culinary Club and Literary Society she had to plan out activities for, she had Quidditch announcing and since Tàmhas had graduated, she was now the head Announcer. At least she had Amelia to help her there. So, studying, clubs, announcing... Yeah, she could definitely manage all that... Oh, she also had to factor in time to spend with her boyfriend and all of her friends too... Oh, and to factor in Prefect duties... Yeah, no, she definitely could manage all that... She just needed to create a comprehensive schedule for the next many months and she'd be just fine. Alice was so deep her thoughts she almost missed the Deputy Headmistress starting the Sorting. Shaking her head, she set a smile on her face and set about memorizing the names of all the new students.

Thankfully the Sorting process was a good distraction for the many thoughts running through Alice's mind, but the process was nearing an end. That meant those thoughts would come flooding back, unless she found another distraction. One of the first years was Sorted in Ravenclaw and after a decent bit of cheering, Alice waved at the new boy joining her house. Seoirse, that was a traditional Irish name and called back to her chosen middle name. "Hey, welcome to Ravenclaw! My name's Alice and I'm a Prefect. Also captain of the Culinary and Literary clubs, but that's not important right now." She giggled a little, then cleared her throat and straightened her robes a little. "I'm here if you have any questions you want to ask, need directions, or just... need a friend. If you're not used to being away from your family, it can be a little scary. I don't know if you're familiar with magic or not, but that can also be a little disorienting. Don't hesitate if you need anything at all, okay?" Alice smiled, her bright blue eyes sparkling in the lights from the candles floating amongst the clouds in the ceiling.

Wow, Alice definitely saw a lot of her younger self in this new firstie... she also wondered if maybe he was like her as a first years. Maybe he had the same kind of upbringing... The blonde would definitely have to keep her eyes on him as well. She nodded when he said that his mum had also been a Ravenclaw and now she was a lawyer, which was pretty cool. Also meant that he knew at least a little bit about magic and that came in handy. When he asked for some input about becoming a Prefect, Alice thought for a moment. Before she could answer though, he also asked about the Literary Society and asked about fiction versus nonfiction. "Well, for the club we do mostly focus on fiction, since that's what a majority of our members seem to favor, but I do love some good non-fiction as well. I absolutely love history, especially about the magical world. I grew up as a Muggle, so I'm fascinated learning about the magical world. I recently read a biography about Aesop Sharp, who was a Potions teacher here at Hogwarts in the 1800's. It was such a thrilling read!" Of course, anyone other than her would have probably thought it was such a boring book, but Alice had quite enjoyed it. "As for your question about Prefect tips... well, most Prefects are really personable. You kinda have to be, since its our job to guide the younger students. But also you have to be well behaved, since we also have to make sure everyone is following the rules." She nodded and smiled. Having good grades also helped, but she was sure that that wasn't a requirement for being a Prefect.
