Amu Tsukiyomi-sama Belinda Ingram Amu Tsukiyomi-sama Problem with what specifically? *does not know what problem you're referencing* How Bel figured out what you were talking about in your post. >.>....okay? I am very confused, since I don't know what the problem I pointed out about that is anymore..... ^_^;; Just that you wondered how I figured out you were talking about the special double major thing from a few words... I think.

KuroKageHane suishohatake lol yeah it's not too bad right now ^^ And yeah... my sister's bff runs a daycare in town that's becoming fairly popular and they get some nice state grants for single moms like me who can't afford a regular daycare/babysitting service, but have to work, so she was more than happy to help me out there. =) I do already miss getting to spend the whole day with him, but you're right... I'll get used to it soon. Okay... I'll try to explain the whole deal, but it might get a little confusing so feel free to make me clarify anything I don't xD Typically we want to save good quality estate jewelry from being melted down because if you take, say, the family heirloom necklace to the "gold buyer" at a mall kiosk or anything like that, you don't get money for any of the stones, or how nicely taken care of and old the piece might be... to them, it's just a piece of precious metal and they go melt it and you get only a fraction of the melt value. We want really nice period pieces to stay in circulation and not wind up being melted down since it's more than just jewelry by that point... it's pretty much historical. It's beneficial to the seller because we will wind up paying a premium over what a gold buyer would since we know it's worth more than melt value. But not everything we are sold fits into that realm and that's where I come in. Typically after a buying team comes back from a trip (the city I live in has a fiercely competitive precious metals buying community so we travel around the southern states setting up shows to buy through a dept. store chain we have a contract with) I separate out the good stuff from the items that are pretty much only worth the melt value. From there, I take the pile that is going to wind up being melted and remove the stones from those pieces that have them... I have once held a bag of gold worth about $80k after I was finished pulling stones. o.o;;; Once I get all the stones pulled, I weight out any different purities of the metal for record keeping and send off the gold or silver to be melted down and exchanged for a fat check xDHope that explains it a little bit... I also work with coins and other inventory... The other two office girls are working on helping one of my boss' art clients sell off their late father's collectibles and two pieces are... well... in pieces , so I'm gonna try to epoxy them back together and see if they will look worth of putting up on our eBay site, lol xD Wait until I get to college. I'm going to be running like a chicken with its head off. gonk Hooray! She's so nice for taking care of him for you~ Well, at least you do have time for him, right? Speaking of babies, one of my younger uncles just got his second son! I believe he's younger than Skylar by like 2~3 months. And he's so adorable! > w < So old heirloom-like things are kept b/c the stones are good as well while the other jewelry gets melted down, weighed, and sold off? What's epoxy? O: During the work week, I get a couple hours before work and a couple hours after work to be with him before it's sleepy time for him. It's the weekends where I get to spend some good time with him... but he always gets so excited to see his mommy when I pick him up. Just a big ol bundle of wiggles and smiles ^u^ Awwww! ^w^ I bet he is! emotion_bigheart Gonna post some pics sometime? o3o More that it's because of the pieces being old and super rare, as opposed to the other pieces that are either damaged beyond repair, or modern and more commonplace. If you have a nice looking stone though in a piece that would normally be scrapped otherwise though, you get compensated for it unlike if you took it to a "gold buyer" who only pays you for the gold. Epoxy is basically a resin based super glue that usually comes in two liquid forms you mix together to activate the hardening process to adhere items together. As a former ceramics major having to put back together a piece that you were butterfingers with just hours before critique time ninja , it's better than super glue imho. xD
