I got it, too.
I think it's an april fools thing, because all of them have Platinum Halo's inside of them, however, when you equip them, it does the black-faced thing my avi has right now.

I guess an item that "good" would have to be unstable and spontaneously combust. The least they could do now is make a small announcement (at least in an upcoming newsletter). I'm keeping mine, because they'll sure be worth plenty in a year. I think that this is the first time Gaia has actually done something for April Fool's Day.

Not true! Two years ago (I believe), a similar event occured. A blue box floated around the screen (as there were only pink links, trunks, and pink boxes then). Upon clicking it, it would explode and give you a soot face (which would go away if you resaved your avvi). Some people saved these soot faces until the Avatar 2.0 system was released. This also lead to a few Invisibobs, who had a glitch when their face was sooted that made their entire body disappear. Except for the boxers. Heh.
