A friend from college's laptop just got slammed by viruses. Giving recovery help/advice through email is not ideal, but I think at least the important data can be retrieved.

Ah, that happened to me before. I made a copy of everything I could on my external, then basicly erased my entire laptop. Took five days to get it back into order.

After looking up said rap, it has proven to be one of the very few raps I actually enjoy; alongside the fresh prince of bel-air intro and the ultimate showdown.
Started to watch Outlaw Star and was pleasantly surprised to recall that this is an anime I saw a few bits of on Toonami back in the day. At the time I didn't know what show it was, and the month-long air time ensured I wouldn't get to see it much apart from a few snippets here and there.
It's such a classic anime.

I was mildly unimpressed, but the show was not bad. I don't understand why most 'popular' anime goes by me with a "meh." Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Outlaw Star, and the like are barely blips on my radar.
NGE is not bad, and Naruto (both original and Shippuden) have good points. Bleach is quite nice . . . but what about Ranma, Elfen Lied, or Rozen Maiden?! Shows that made me demand to see more???

My tastes in anime are wide, but random. It really just depends if a show "grabs" me or not.
I'd love to see Ranma, given the chance. With close to 200 episodes in all, I'd watch it if I could find the time and hard drive space. wink
Elfen Lied is something I know to stay away from (tons of nudity from what I've heard).
Upon researching Rozen Maiden a little (I had heard little about it), the concept seems inventive and interesting. I'll have to see if I can't dig it up some time.

Ranma 1/2: I researched it for a week online before I tried it. The research gave me a headache . . . so much to keep track of . . . but from the first episode I saw, it was classic. truly a funny and great show. The movies are not bad either.
Elfin Lied: Yes, there is a fair amount of nudity, but none of it is sexual that I remember. More innocence and cultural differences in relaxed views on boobies. America is one of the most repressed countries on earth. I found this anime to be dark, and truly interesting. Highly recommended.
Rozen Maiden: Another really good one. Animate dolls all moving through the world waiting for the time to fight each other and absorb the lifeforce that moves them. Ultimately, the last doll standing should become "Alice," the perfect living girl.

Seeing Mou and hearing her comments just drives another nail into my heart with Gaia. I wonder if my time is about up here? I barely RP here, my friends are all disappearing, and I wonder if I only come here out of habit anymore. This guild has been my lifeblood in Gaia- the reason I keep coming. Now it is lagging and dying slowly . . . and I have no way to save it. I wonder if I am just hanging on for no real reason anymore.

R 1/2: I will surely chck it out some day, given a proper time commitment. With my dwindling, hard drive space, it probably won't be for quite a while.
EL: Even if it isn't sexual in nature, large amounts of said nudity are still unwelcome by my standards. I'll bear an anime having a bath house episode or something similar, but more than an episode of it is just too much. Bath house episodes of most anime also don't tend to display any detail, and I have a feeling Elfen Lied does.
RM: Sounds like a fun short anime. I'll pick it up soon.

All joking from the Hangout thread aside, it's a tough decision. It is one that you should decide without the opinions of anyone else tilting your emotions one way or the other (though I'm sure we both know which direction your Gaia friends would try to steer you).
I just hope that what you have said (rather the sadness behind it) is truly posted by the Ruined Horizon side of your persona.

Ruined sees Gaia as a waste of time anymore. Overflowing with asshats, the economy worthless and now forced into the realm of actual dollars making gold useless, flooded with EIs and RIGs.
Alexander sees Gaia as the place that is fun and comfortable, where we found a good Bleach RP, and the vain hope that we will find friends still.
Magni is the superego, the one that makes informed decisions. I am not prepared to just up and leave, but I really wonder at times if I am only here for the comfort. If this is routine rather than fun. Magni has more than a million gold, but that is a drop in the bucket anymore. We have no luck with random items, so RIGs only piss me off. I don't have a lot of money, so that is somewhat out of the question. Friends are disappearing far faster than they come in. Even you, my dear old friend, are only here for short bursts.
I just wonder.

R 1/2: Please do. I strongly suggest it despite the dated art style. It is funny and absurd without a lic of normality.
EL: I do strongly suggest this show, despite the occaisional nudity. telekinetic killer girls all with serious psychological issues makes for interesting plot hooks. the main female is a girl that switches between "Lucy," a cold-blooded killer girl that has remorse for only one act of killing, and seeks out the boy that she wronged . . . and "Nu," an innocent girl without any experience or knowledge of the world- even the ability to speak at first.
RM: Nothing like a recluse forced to make and serve tea to a victorian doll. Interesting, and worth a see. That, and you get to see the source of "Desu" on the net.
