Hykal and his fellow Raptors advanced quietly on foot toward the enemy scouts. They still believed they were the hunters, the fools. Motioning with his hands, he had his Raptors set up a position to flank the enemies, keeping his new Chaos Hounds close to him as he waited for the right moment to strike.
Not long ago, they had taken out another group of scouts, a small one with a sniper. They managed to kill one of his prized hounds and a Raptor before they were killed, and one still escaped. Still, Hykal doubted that one scout would make much difference.
"Did you hear that?" One of the Scouts whispered over his comm-link to his allies, his sensitive ears twitching as he thought he heard a movement from around them.
"Stupid campers," Muttered another one of the Scouts, looking around to see if he could spot anyone to shoot, eager to get some combat action.
"We're catching up with them." The squad captain, Jhenga, muttered back, tightening his grip on the R.Y.N.O. gun he had, still sure he could handle the enemy with his squad's superior firepower. The squad continued advancing, now keeping their weapons ready incase the enemy sprung out to attack. Eventually, they got to a cave, the closest thing the forest had to a path ending there. "Dartz, Max, check it out." Jhenga told his squad, two warriors advancing into the cave.
Perfect. Hykal thought, having his hounds move close toward the cave entrance, glad that he had something quieter than his fellow Raptors. The Hounds were about to spring when an unlucky step caused one of the hounds to snap a twig.
Jhenga quickly had his ears perk up, looking over to see movement heading toward the cave entrance. "Open fire!" He commanded, blasting his R.Y.N.O. into the movement, his fellow scouts following his example. The closer hound had its body torn to shreds in moments, the other barely shielded from the shots by a thick tree trunk. Running forward now, the hound leapt from the cover and smashed into a scout, knocking him to the ground instantly, attempting to bite into the unfortunate scout's neck. The scout barely had enough time to react, bringing up his hands and holding back the deadly hounds head enough to keep it from biting off his head.
"Blast it!" He screamed, barely holding the hound back. Jhenga quickly fired his gun into the hound point blank with his NX, blasting it off with great force from the scout. Max, just coming back out from in the cave, was about to scream something, presumable a warning. Before he had the chance, it was too late. The Raptor Kardon, his armor burnt and dented, quickly enacted his jetpack, zooming out of from the cave, slicing his chainsword into the back of Max's legs, knocking him to the ground with a scream of pain. During the conflict with the hounds, they hadn't heard the gunshots from the encounter the scouts had with the raptor.
"Keep order!" Jhenga shouted, firing at the Raptor with his R.Y.N.O., only to see the missiles harmlessly add more craters to his armor, while Max attempted to get himself in a position to fire into the enemy. Meanwhile, the other Raptors flew from the cover, one firing his bolt-pistol into the still-down Max, killing him with a deadly burst to the head. Raptor Sarisiel smashed his shoulder into the first scout in his path, blowing him back into a tree, knocking him unconscious. Meanwhile, Hykal flew straight for Jhenga, watching as one of his raptors died from a slash of his sword.
"Crap." Muttered one of the Scouts, barely dodging a slice from Sarisiels blade, thrusting his knife through a joint in Sarisiels leg armor. Expecting him to go down, the scout stood back as he watched the Raptor pull the knife harmlessly out of the joint, his Larraman's Organ quickly clotting the blood flow. Turning to the shocked scout, Sarisiel returned the favor, throwing the blade directly at the scouts knee-cap. As the scout screamed in pain, Sarisiel walked toward him, his chainsword roaring as though conscious of the pain it was about to cause. Raising the blade, Sarisiel smashed his blade into the scouts neck, cleaving the head off in one stroke before turning to the other scouts.
During this time frame, a scout from an isolated pack of survivors spoke back to his allies. "Cover me!" He shouted, running forward and grabbing the unconscious scouts R.Y.N.O. off the ground, confident he could handle the kick from the guns. Turning to face the first clear Raptor he could see, the Scout blasted both R.Y.N.O.'s into it, blasting back both the scout and Raptor. While the raptor quickly recovered, the same wasn't true for the scout. His arms had been torn from their sockets, while his wrists were broken from the force. The Raptor quickly responded with a display of firepower of his own, raising his melta-gun and blasting the scout into ash, as well as melting a large chunk of the tree behind him.
Through all the Chaos, Jhenga had turned just in time to see Hykal coming toward him, quickly removing his blade from the dead enemy to block a slash from his opponents lightning claws, pushed back by the force of the blow. He barely had enough time to block the Raptor Leaders next slash, followed by another slash from Hykal at Jhenga's chest, barely moving back enough to keep the blow from being fatal.
"Monyu." He muttered, his other hand going for the cut made in is stomach from the tip of the claws. Looking back as if to find support, Jhenga was shocked by what he saw. Most of his warriors were dead, those that weren't fleeing. They had left him here. "Cowards," He muttered before his attention went back to Hykal, the Raptors cheering him on with chants of, "Hykal, Hykal," As Hykal leapt forward, Jhenga readied his blade, ready to fight to the death. Suddenly, the energy of the blade cut out, leaving him with just a handle. "Oh feth," Was all the time to say before a lightning claw punched through his chest. Hykal then lifted the Jhenga into the air and let him drown in his own blood before finally punching his other claw into the Jhenga's head, exploding under the force of the blow.
