Thanks, Saph.
I'm big on religious tolerance and learning about other cultures/belief systems to better understand them, so I've taken to learning about different religions here and there. Satanism, being widely misunderstood, was one of the first I looked into, along with Buddhism and Al-Islam. Those three are the ones people usually misunderstand, or heavily stereotype.

Couple that with the fact that some people pull s**t out of myth and popular legends, and then you have a massive ball of stupidity that only rolls downhill as people use the argument of 'It says so in David vs. Goliath' and so forth.
In essence, it's normally one massive NO U fight in which one person is clearly wrong, the other is clearly right, and the person who is wrong just uses a lot of misread/misunderstood or even completely false logic.

Well, a lot of times I don't consider people to be "wrong" or "right."
No religious outlook is specifically one or the other, it's just what a person believes. As far as I'm concerned, any person's belief system can be just as right as another. It's just what makes the most sense to that person.
I'm talking more about the generalizations and stereotyping you see. Like all Satanists being blood-drinking, literal-to-the-word devil worshipers, or all Muslims being terrorists, or what have you. Where people aren't saying the belief system is wrong (which isn't right to do, but that's not the point), but that people are just uninformed about what they're talking about so they have a lot of misconceptions that could be cleared up by just taking some time to learn about the belief system.

Well, sorry xp
And to be fair, that was more along the lines of theology than history, though I do like to look into religions and cults from ancient history, like the Cult of Dionysus and Zoroastrianism, which is still around today I think.

I think Theology ties closely in anyhow. Well, maybe more from a Sociologists or Anthropologists perspective-bah. Point is, all very interesting.
*Nods* And I'm going into law...

I used to frequent the Extended Discussion-it can be interesting.
Some of the threads though-you get people completely on one side, and people completely on the other-refusing to even speak or consider things together. It's stupid, and not what Debate ought to be about.
I love argument, controlled debate-when yes, there is clashing-but also concessions, and you fight and argue and point out and understand-until you reach a point of near truth-or, be it opinion based-understanding of one another, at least.
*Ponders* Hm.

ED is all abortion debates and bible bashing.
Least that's my opinion the last several times I've been in there.
