Well the Tentatio hardened their flesh to be as hard as metal after shaping their skin into blades. Also the Vallo will harden their flesh for defensive manuvers.

You could make them Earth affinity? That is pretty general, at least I think, lol.
Oh! Better yet, how about Lightning? Electricity runs through our bodies, so it seems a little more biological (correct me you biology majors if I'm wrong).

Well.. That would work.. but what about stem-cells and such. That is completely blank cells that copy tissue in order to heal.

There isn't really an affinity that the Vergrandis fall into. I'm sure if you ask one of the crew they might allow you to not have a required affinity at all.
If there were some kind of jutsu that you developed which used a certain affinity then you could just use that.

Well the only one i could think of would be fire and earth because they would make their skin cells as hard as metal in order to fight. The Tentatio branch and the Vallo branch.
