He closed his eyes, listening. "It's the wind," he said finally. "That's all I hear. There is no sound. Isn't there a body?"
Yuki circled the tree, looking up towards the branches. The tree had many of them, and they were all fairly high off the ground.

"Alright then...I'll have to blimb up to see..."she muttered. Focusing on the tree, she jumped and landed on one of the lower branches. Jumping from branch to branch, she made her way up the tree.

"Mom, it'll talk, if you pull the bark off," Yuki reminded Netsubo.
Faust stood under the tree, looking up through the branches. He squinted, looking for something that looked like his body.

"I know that...but I just want to see for myself..."She said, getting up to where the bodies were. As she looked around, she thought she spotted a familiar body.

"Mom?" Yuki called. "Don't... don't fall, OK?" he stared at Mephisto. "Can't you do anything?" Mephisto shook his head, looking genuinely sorry.

"He can't talk!" Faust said. "But... pull off the bark... he did say that when the trees bleed, they talk..." he looked at Yuki. "Yuki? Can you see, what I look like, up there?"
Yuki squinted. "His eyes are plucked... but he does look like you. Happy?"
"Not really," Faust said.

Netsubo sighed and pulled at the bark. Strangly, having Mephsito quiet was more annoying than having him talk.

The bark was soft and wet, bleeding red on Netsubo's hand.
