It's a very good question, Bade! The citric acid cycle reduces fatigue and combats fatigue-causing chemicals, like lactic acid! Citric acid is used to metabolize carbohydrates and fats, breaking them down into water and carbon dioxide, giving the body energy. In fact, the citric acid is an important factor in the drink's ability to energize! Also, the water and even the sour taste act as thirst-quenchers, and the drink has great fluid retention.

EDIT: Also, don't expect that piling lectures and punishments on Charlie is going to make her any less obstinate... like everyone in Ohtori is (or is meant to be) she is very immature. I already have plans for her character development, and a great deal of it is coming up very soon, so please give her a little break. She'll get what's coming to her. confused

We're not trying to make her less obstinate. (Although that would be pleasant!) Just like we're not trying to make Maarten less of an a**. This is IC actions leading to IC consequences. If you make a character that is prone to actions that inevitably lead to trouble, your character will unsurprisingly spend a lot of time in hot water. Maarten, for instance, has an unlikable attitude and an ego that presents itself for attack, and so, he is often teased. Adelaide and Maarten fought in the cafeteria and were punished for it.

Charlie publically insulted Maarten's mother and disobeyed a member of the student council when she was told to stop, so she is punished for it.

IC actions = IC consequences! smile

Punishment die is rolled for the situations where the student council or the teachers are a distance away. They're rolled for Dorian's stunts, they're rolled for Ivan, rolled for Maarten, yes, I even rolled for Gregor. I have a die-rolling thread in the mod forum for these rolls, to keep a record of them. For every public prank, or every post in which something that goes against the rules is done in public. (Each post in which someone is out of uniform.) I roll the die. This is how it works.

Note that Dorian and Charlie were not punished for throwing their food at Gregor. Dorian was not punished for her harrassment of Gregor the first few days. Issac, Maarten, Adelaide, and Charlie were not punished for their disturbance in the halls. Since the theft of Maarten/Brigitta's pen was well-maneuvered, it went unnoticed.

Also, the cafeteria was not crowded. The elementary students were there running amok, but a huge majority of the student population had gone to the town or to the dorms to prepare. The staff was very low there.

So, yes, there are exceptions.
