Serebrate I have a question that I'm pretty sure is "no", but I figured I'd ask anyway.
Can a Thousands Sons army field a Lord of Change, and if so what would it count towards? HQ I'd assume? I figured that servants of a god might be able to use demons of said god. First off, no, you cannot take a Lord of Change. You can take a generic Greater Daemon that LOOKS like a Lord of Change, but that's it. Secondly, you can't have a THousand Sons army anymore (In anything other than name). The only Rubric-Gifted unit is the generic Thousand Son entry in the troops section. I take it you can see why some people have gotten mighty upset with the 'dex?

I do see that.
I figured that you wouldn't be able to field daemons from the Chaos Daemons army but since I don't have the newest stoofs I have to hear by word of mouth as opposed to just opening the book itself and reading. Too bad though, since Chaos SM are servants of the four Chaos Gods; you'd think they'd be able to field better daemons every once in a while.
I didn't know about that, I know there's the generic "hurr thousand sons" in the troops section on GW's website which just have the little crest above their heads. You can't use sorcerers anymore (except one as a HQ choice?) Also, do Thousand Sons still have that rule...I forget what it's called. Slow and Steady or something to that effect where you get a shooting bonus but you can't charge?

The rule is Slow and Purposeful. The gist is that the units (Thousand Sons), given that they have no bodies, cannot move as quickly as a normal man. Therefore, they always roll DT when moving. It also means that they always count as stationary when firing their weapons, and they may always charge. HOWEVER, they do not get the attack bonus for charging.
Glad to be of help.

Yeah. Because of the Rubric of Ahriman, the souls of the Thousand Sons were bound into their power armor, their bodies left to rot away. At least, that's about the best of how I understand it.
Still...they have AP3 Bolters. Which is slightly terrifying...

Less so when you're used to using Guard and Dark Eldar, who lose their saves against NORMAL Bolters.
Oh well.

Yeah. Because of the Rubric of Ahriman, the souls of the Thousand Sons were bound into their power armor, their bodies left to rot away. At least, that's about the best of how I understand it.
Still...they have AP3 Bolters. Which is slightly terrifying... The Rubic of Ahriman was a spell cast by Ahriman, who at the time of casting was the chief Librarian for the chapter. The idea behind it was to stop random mutations and other dubious effects due to their worship of Tzeentch and their abnormal level of Psykers. The mutations were slowly sapping the chapter of it's morale and was destroying it inwardly. Though it seems evil, it was actually preformed in an attempt to save the Thousand Sons. It was preformed in secret by Ahriman and a small group of other spell casters. The effect did technically stop the random mutations, but it did so by turning all of those who weren't gifted ( aka all the non-Psykers ) into dust and made them mindless slaves more-or-less and it greatly enhanced the powers of Psykers, of which Ahriman and his fellow librarians profited from.
Ahriman considered it a success as did the librarians who received a significant increase in their powers.
As one might imagine, Magnus the Red was non too pleased to find out his legion was turned to dust and their souls forever trapped inside their power armor. Ahriman was then dispelled from the Thousand Sons along with other librarians and spell casters, who continued their search for different faucets of knowledge. This includes there search for the Eldar's Black Library and various other restricted outlets to which they (Ahriman's band) are forever thirsting for knowledge.
The Thousand Sons is now different because it is lead by the Sorcerer caste, who were former librarians and all other non-sorcerers (aka Rubric Marines) following unquestioningly. Sorcerer's are de facto leaders because the Rubric marines cannot learn, question, or apply logic to a situation and thus need a cattle prod.

Kinda. Just faster in combat without fancy atomizing guns. And they have spiffier hats!

Attention!
To those of you who truly wish to be gifted with the powers of the Dark Gods, come into the Guild Army subforum. I myself am running the Chaos Training thread and I am in dire need of some cultists.

I love chaos space marines! I've been collecting them for a while and enjoy Tzeentch and Nurgle in particular. I was upset when the new codex came out and saw the generic daemons and that you couldn't be god specific. After some talk with my friends, one of whom has a large Khorne chaos army, we decided to create a house rule where we could pay to give daemons a specific mark. It would give the same benefit, but could only be given to the daemons if the unit summoning them had a corresponding mark, or is Chaos Undivided of course. We made it a kind of expensive upgrade but added a little extra charm to some of our battles.

I was pissed at the sight of that rule too. Chaos Space Marines were nerfed/'nilla'd out quite a lot. Apparently there was a certain prejudice against being able to take a Str 6 Monstrous Creature that was able to ignore all saves in CC.
