Torment folded his arms and stared at Malazar, "First off, I don't do sports, secondly I'd have to hold off for a while, even with this wonderful splint and the aid administered upon it I'd rather not push it."

"Bah, deal with it laddy. Try playing consistantly in a minor league as an 83 year old, then you can complain. Besides, Shockball is unlike any game you have on your world. A combination of tennis, soccer, wallball, handball, dodgeball, and of course hand to hand and magical combat. Are you naturally strong in this place Torment? Or will you need pump-gloves?"

:::Cora suddenly looked unsure of herself, fumbling once more with the ball:::
Uhm...Malazar, I've never played a sport before. I do not know the rules.

Torment prodded his wing a bit, wincing only slightly, "I wouldn't call myself exceptionally strong, but with my heritage I am stronger than your average joe. My only problem lies on that magical combat part, which I really don't see happening in here. As I noticed recently I'm rather frail without my magic."

"Oh its quite simple, there are very few rules, if any. I'll set you up with a set of pump gloves Torment, no worries. As for the magical combat I doubt any of us could properly apply a game of Shockball to magical combat, but you'll see what I mean. Here are the basics."
He hands Cora a pair of padded armor-like white gloves, similar to his own black pair. Torment recieves a grey set.
"Put those on while I explain, make sure they're a snug fit."
As he speaks Malazar removes his jacket, shirt, feet wraps, and sandals. Lastly he carefully removes an ornate silver pocketwatch on a chain from his pants.
"The point of Shockball is to strike an opponent five times in the trunk or the head. Any part of your limbs are legal to use in returning the ball, even the shoulders, thighs, and butt. Don't laugh, some very famous games have been won through unexpected plays. There is no out of bounds, or restriction on how you hit the ball or how long it is in your possession. You can do anything from hold it in your hand to strike your opponents with to rebounding it off the walls, ceiling, and furniture. Also, if you were the last one to make contact with the shockball, or are holding it in your control, any contact with point scoring portion of your body is not treated as a point against you or even considered illegal, also a common move."
He take the black ball from Cora and picks up the controller with his other hand.
"This is a shockball in its inactive state. It weighs about five pounds and hurts like hell if it hit you after thrown by a pro. This..."
He thumbs a button on the controller and the black ball hums to life with a crackling yellow energy field around it.
"This is the active form, depending on how hard it is thrown it can weigh between a single pound and upwards to fifty when it comes into contact with a Shockball Player. In addition it delievers a nasty shock when it makes contact that counts towards one of your five points. Fortunately, this only applies to current Shockball Players."
Malazar whips the active shockball at the ceiling. It bounces easily off the surface and rebounds into a glass bottle, the bottle doesn't even budge as the shockball bounces off it and into Torment's injured wing. The shockball bounces off the wing without even an ounce of pressure or impact, Torment barely even feels it. The ball bounces off and careens at Cora. Cora catches it, or tries to, as the shockball rebounds off her hand again. The ball strikes the floor and bounces back at Malazar. Malazar raises his gloved hand and the ball slams into it. The energy field growls and mingles with a similar field emitted from his glove.
"Otherwise, it is completely harmless."
Malazar says calmly, even though the time elapsed between the shockball leaving his hand and returning to it was all of four-five seconds.
"Shockball is a game of skill and endurance, there are so few rules just for this reason. There is barely any luck to Shockball, the ball bounces off all surfaces equally so it is possible to predict the angle at a nearly 99.99 repeating % likelyhood. Some games have been known to last days between skilled players. On my world, the Major league finals are held every three years. Six years ago, that game lasted three... weeks..."
He flips his black hair out of his face and grins.
"Of course, that was a team game with players switching in and out every few days or so. They were the best anyone had ever seen, too bad several of the players retired after that season. But I won't go into team play today, two on one will suffice."

:::Cora looked at Tor, then back at Mal:::
You mean I have to find a way to hit you with a ball I can't really touch, 5 times, in your head, or your abdomen... and that's the game?

Serenis :::Cora looked at Tor, then back at Mal::: You mean I have to find a way to hit you with a ball I can't really touch, 5 times, in your head, or your abdomen... and that's the game? "Nonononononono! The moment you put those gloves on you become a legal target and the ball effects you normally. The field barrier keeps innocent bystanders from getting hurt by errant Shockballs. Its a really important feature, especially in cross-country matches. The game starts when the limits are set from this controller." Gestures with the controller.

Tor shrugged, he'd rather not participate in any physical activities beyond blowing something up with only a few mere motions of his arms and fingers, "Still don't see the purpose in sports, you can get so much more enjoyment from blowing something up or simply talking to people, well, some people. So much less physical activty to it...bah...haven't had sex for a while, this'll have to do." He began donning the required equipment.

Tacitus Tor shrugged, he'd rather not participate in any physical activities beyond blowing something up with only a few mere motions of his arms and fingers, "Still don't see the purpose in sports, you can get so much more enjoyment from blowing something up or simply talking to people, well, some people. So much less physical activty to it...bah...haven't had sex for a while, this'll have to do." He began donning the required equipment. Malazar snorts loudly. As Torment slips his gloves on he can feel them flex and tighten around his hands, in addition there is a slight strain and a rush of strength up his arms and through his body. Cora's gloves flex and tighen as well, but there is no increase in her already formidable strength. "Never heard that one before... yeesh. Alright, whatever. What you're feeling is synthetic muscle mesh assisting your current muscle mass and cognitive reflexes. I'm going to set up some walls and a ceiling for us to work with here, otherwise we might lose the ball and I doubt anyone wants to go chasing after it into infinity." A few keystrokes on the control sets up luminisent walls and a ceiling around the Brinks main room. They are obviously not corpreal, just boundaries for the shockball. "Now... you guys can start with the ball, just try and nail me with it aight?"

Cora grasps the ball in her hands, now seemingly in solid control of it...she grins to herself. This might be fun after all... She reels back and hurls the ball at Malazar.
Malazar in turn moves like lightning, sidestepping and lashing out with one hand to slap the ball to one side. The energy field around his glove flashes briefly, resembling a plate as it smashes into the ball. The ball leaps away from Malazar's hand like a rocket, richocceting off the side wall, into the back wall, and at Cora/Torment's back.
((Cora/Torment as in whoever posts first gets it. But of course, everyone is going to sleep... and I'm sure as hell not. Blah))
