Welcome gina787! Fellow Ravenclaws, she's already won points for our House; check out her great thread:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?page=1&t=13828017#167948302. Gina, great to know you're from Puerto Rico!
Ravenclaw is truly an international house, we have Australia, UK, Poland, Norway and many parts of the US etc.

Welcome back, Kat, we've missed you!
Para, brrr...I know. I switched to a lap top after the fires last year. I do need to prep an evacuation suitcase, too. Very basic: computer, iPod, cats, carriers, autographed books, external hard drive, flower essences, therapy equipment and a few pieces of art. Pair of jeans, couple of favorite tops, and some Goddess clothing. And my rock from the Taoist cave on top of the mountain in southern Guandong (Canton) province. It all has to fit into a Toyota Corolla, so I'm down to bare basics.

I just finished an intensive series with a woman from Taiwan who flew to San Diego for some therapy- I worked all weekend- 5 days total with her and it was great, though I'm exhausted! It went really well though, and she was very appreciative. As was I. Truly great experience. I won't be posting much this week - prepping for the weekend when I have some reps coming to demonstrate some medical equipment. Any way, happy Haven Trick or Treating, where we can dress up as much as we want -

Anybody get a Kelp O' Loch? They plummeted in price from nearly 200K at the final evolution, which included some GREAT merfolk tails, better than the Aquatica! to about 50K.

And Beedle is on my Wish List for Christmas!

Good idea LHH! My comp is a macbook now so that I will have that to carry. Has everyone seen this month's collectibles? I think they are awesome! Just when I have no money to buy any gaia cash, I can't buy it. I wonder how much they want for it in the marketplace?

Ahh... wasn't here a while. I got sick just yesterday. And it's getting worse and worse. I really don't know what it is, flu probably, but everything will clear up tomorrow when I see the doctor. In the meanwhile I'm just dying in bed. ^^;

It's scaring to hear from you guys about this fire. I don't have any bad experience with fire, but I do believe how frightening it must be to you. I wish both of you the best. <3 Be brave.

And going back to my playground... It's already 10 days since we got a kitty (I was talking about it some time ago, she's going to be in charge of our beloved Marceli, who passed away...). She was really small when we took her. Moreover she was a bit sick so we had to take her to our local vet a good couple of times. And she's ok now. She's growing fast, because she's eating ALOT, but I guess it's good while she's still small. I even took her a photo, if anyone's interested, she can be found on my Photobucket. Oh, right. And we decided to name her Momo. I was pretty influenced by 'Kimi wa Petto' ('You Are My Pet'), which is a japanese tv drama. There's that male guy, Takeshi, who's named 'Momo' by the main heroine of the show after her dog that passed away when she was still a child... The guy becomes her pet o-o which leads to many strange and funny situations. I thought it sounds nice and all... For a cat, at least. Heh, that's funny. 'Momo' means 'peach' in Japanese, but she isn't really peach-colored, as you can see. xD' But I like this name anyway.

I still kinda envy you the trick-o-treating feast... I remember my mom was telling me that when she was in the US, almost 20 years ago now, she was the candy lady on the Halloween night and was giving out various sweets, of which no one here ever heard at that time. xD

It's good to have you back, Empress. ^^ The more, the merrier, they say. :3

Thanks Fivienne! I hope you get better! I'm really exhausted, after 2 hours of sleep, who can not blame me. I just saw my boyfriend's fancy new house today. It is so huge! I was like yeah, I'm totally hitting the spa and olympic size pool. smile I love your kitty, it's so cute! And, I like the name Momo. It reminds me of Peach girl and Avatar.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 17, 2008 12:36 pm

You're right, Para! I didn't think of it! Well, I was thinking of 'Peach Girl' (I'm on like 12th volume...), but I totally forgot about 'Avatar'. Strange. O.o'

And thank you! ^^ However I'm not getting better at the moment... confused The doctor said it'll be an ultra-fast therapy. But he did not inform me this is going to be so expensive! T,T My mom spent a fortune on the medicines... x_x Just 3 pills of antibiotic (1 per day) cost us 40zł which is about 15$. I'm pretty shocked, it was never like that.

Wow Fivienne! I hope you're better! And yes, I know all about expensive antibiotics and such. You're in vol. 12 in peach girl? I need to catch up, I got to vol 5. Yeah, I don't know why you would forget avatar, maybe because it's over?

Ooh, I like that picture, Empress_Cat!

Ok, so I need to--Wait...
I'm still out in the corridor. First, the password.
Of course.

Where do my greatest strengths lie?
In my imagination, of course. Without it, how could I be the witty Ravenclaw first-year I am, or how could I live in the world of my precious books like I do. So, definitely going with imagination. (It also helps out with fanfiction.)

{The voice from the knocker says "A wise answer." The wall opens, and I enter.}
All right, now that I'm in the Common Room, (which is wonderfully blue) I can introduce myself to everyone. My name, as you can see, is Matelia legwll. I usually go by Matelia for short. It is actually an early attempt at personalizing my sixth-grade nickname that I still love. The last part of my name is actually not Welsh, as LadyHealingHands hypothesized in her response to my sorting. (At least, it's not to my knowledge.) The legwll actually stands for the initials of some of my favorite female characters in Hogwarts.
Lily Evans, Ginny Weasley, and Luna Lovegood, of course.

Erm, interests! I love reading; I suppose one could call me rather artsy, for I love music, singing, writing, coloring (I know, that's stretching the definition), and ... knitting. At times. Like when the electricity goes off and I can't get on my computer. And I have nothing better to do.

Er, I'm very approachable, but I do better answering questions than giving info off the top of my head. Especially info about myself. So ask me some questions! I look forward to getting to know everyone in the Haven, especially in Ravenclaw.

Awww shucks! I cannot help but proudly strut my obsession with cats in every post that I've made this halloween! Thank you, and welcome again.

You love reading-that is my love too, actually-I guess what I would be called is: "Obsessed beyond all hope of return-hopelessly intwined with every possible novel-in love with more characters than can be counted-and through and though book worm! ^_^ yay me!

What kind of books do you like, Matelia?

All kinds, of course. I usually focus on fantasy adventure stories, but I love other books too.

Harry Potter is of course at the top of my list. I also love the Twilight Saga. (And can't wait for the movie!) Let me see. Other favorite series include the Redwall books by Brian Jacques, the Shannara Series by Terry Brooks, the Belgariad and Mallorean by David Eddings, and others---Artemis Fowl, Dragons in our Midst, Ravenspell, Pride and Prejudice, the Same Kind of Different as Me, The Work and the Glory, Kingdom and the Crown, Castaways of the Flying Dutchman, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Marriage of Sir Gawain and Lady Ragnell, and The Lost Years of Merlin are all series and books and stories that I love and would recommend.

Well, that definition of love of reading is much more complete than my original statement, but I would say that applies to me too. You can't tear me away from my books! That's a very good definition, I'll have to use that sometime, if you don't mind. ^_^

Yes, I have a bit of an obsession with cats too, so I notice them everywhere. I saw a stray cat; it crossed right in front of me and made my day. It had a white coat, though. So not quite Halloween-y. But it was still really cool.

What kinds of books are you hopelessly entwined with, Empress?

I have a feeling you will be sorry you asked me that dear.

Okay, I apologize in advance to everyone for my coming stream of endless books that I love...

First off, I am with you, I focus on Fantasy, adventure, nonfiction and other good stuff like that that fills my soul with pure delight that cannot be described to any possible degree. If you're asking for specifics...they are coming-BEWARE!

Of course Harry Potter is on my list, how can I NOT love the wizarding world of Harry Potter when I love fantasy, adventure and magical creatures to no end. I enjoyed the Twilight Saga as well-so in that respect we are very much alike. For other Fantasy novels I adoreBlue Bloods and Masquerade-I devoured the first with about as much eagerness as I would toward chocolate, but even more vigorous. Then I got to the end of Masquerade and discovered that there was another book-of which I screamed in the car (the second I finished reading) and nearly couldn't sleep because I needed the next one so badly! The third (Revelations) has FINALLY come out (not that I'm IMPATIENT!...jerks.) But I haven't had the opportunity to buy it yet and add it to my bookshelf of endless glee. If you haven't read Eragon and Eldest, that really is a shame, but the third book to the trillogy (Brisingr) is out now as well, although that too, I have not had time to read. Inkheart and Inkspell purely harmonize with my opinion of the novels that I read, so how could I not love them. This trillogy ALSO FREAKING HAS THE THIRD BOOK OUT AND I HAVEN'T DARN WELL READ IT! (not that I'm BITTER!!!) it's called Inkdeath. ((Sorry, I'm a bit passionate about reading...a bit more than my body can probably handle))

Continuing on to some others, I adore Stargirl, a book that every girl should read. I also doomed myself when I read Uglies-and I knew that I had sealed my fate and would there for commit myself to reading the following ones at late hours into the night. Pretties followed and then Specials (which was by far my favorite) however, I wasn't impressed by Extras, and I wouldn't recommend reading that book with the group of them.

I haven't quite made it to The Work and The Glory, I've seen the movies, but I know that books are always better than the movies, without fail.

Terry Brooks writes some excellent novels, but when he killed off one of my favorite characters, I was unable to continue on-I didn't have the heart in it, because I practically read every part just because of that ONE character. (Silly, I know-but remember how obsessively devoted I am?)

City of Masks and the City of Stars were excellent books by Mary Hoffman. I found them one day, and then I was hooked after finishing the first, I was so enthusiastically attached that I had to continue to the City of Flowers as well. (I recommend these books to anyone who has a rainy day and needs a good book! OH my goodness!)

If you are LDS and like mystery and suspense I would HIGHLY and I mean HIGHLY recommend you read Clair Poulson and Jeff Downs! They are AMAZING authors, and I am continually captivated in their grasps, my fingers greedy to grip the books they've written. I am not interested in mushy romance, so that is why these have captured my heart time and time again. Actually, Relentless, by Clair Poulson was what STARTED my obsession with reading. ( I was reading Harry potter at the time, but that wasn't what sparked my interest. I USED TO HATE TO READ. It's hard to believe by the way I talk about reading, but when I was younger I was forced to read by teachers, and I hated reading. I hated books, it was only a waste of time, and now...look what's become of me....sad isn't it?)

Back to where I was...wow this is long. I love Mary Higgins Clark, The Septimus Heap series and The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux.

All of these books have fantasy, adventure and even suspense in them. I'm the type who ignores the gushy part and goes to the parts where your heart starts pounding, and literally jumps into your throat, like when I was reading Blood Bound, the second book to the Mercades Thompson series (Moon Called, Blood Bound, and Iron Kissed) by Patricia Briggs. There was one part where the main character and I shared very similar circumstances that made my mouth go dry. I was alone in my room, and so was she, laying in bed...so was I. I was next to a window-and so was she, and both of our hearts were pounding!

OH! I can't even tell you the literal connection that I have linking me to my reading, it is beyond words or description. But it is palpable and it has me wedged in a perfect prison, binding me to what I read, but the sad part is, I willingly enslave myself to their power, the call that knocks me senseless and mindless as I follow, perfectly at ease. And each time I enter the sacred haven of novels that less obsessed people may call a library, I can't help but listen to the call of the bindings on the shelves, whispering my name, making my fingers itch to lift the tattered binding into my devoted care. I shed the insipid world behind me, and step into an entirely different dimension, a utopia of my own imagining. It is more than an obsessive and hopeless disorder, it is more of a possession on my soul, and I never intend to let it release its hold on me!

...It's true, no lie. I don't know if books call to you off of the shelves, but they do to me, and I cannot resist, but succumb to their will, and turn over my life to their pages.

So in an answer to your question, I am hopelessly intwined with books...in general.

This is way, way, too delicious you two! Wish I had TIME to jump in, but I need more weeks in my day to do everything!
Include in Mercedes Lackey (darn near everything but especially her Valdemar series, Fairy Godmother and Elemental series) and Marion Zimmer Bradley's darkover, especially the Forbidden Tower (that one alone...!),
Alan Nourse, Andre Norton, I've only read Eragon and the next two are on my list.

To Ravenclaw and Books! Yay Ravenclaws!!! yay Books!
And glory to cats of all kinds and colors!
(I'm a bit punchy -off to clean, then bed)

Amazing! Books! Yes well I devour books, not as much as I did when I was younger (I have a life now. wink ) I love books that include vampires, not like Cirque de Freak stuff but stuff like Vampire Academy by Rachel Mead. Also, the pendragon series is quite enjoyable. Harry Potter of course, anything by Anne Rice and Lord of the Rings. Alot of manga of course and just so many, I'm not really into long series and romance books. Shojou manga is still good, I love historical books. Anything about someone from history is amazing. Yay for Bookworms! whee
