i started to play the clarinet in the 5th grade and am now in the 10th so i have been play for about 6 years. also last year i picked up the alto clarinet and the bass clarinet. but my favorite will always be my old Bb Clarinet. blaugh ninja

just4now Hey Im an 8th grader and I auditioned for a high school on Clarinet I go to Herbert Hoover ms(sf) and Ive been playing for fives years and I double on alto sax and bass clar skipping the lame intro.. hey

sharp_edge i play the clarinet, depite me being 6th chair, i am better then our first chair... oh wow. i beat one of our players who was second chair last year. he is seventh now. its rather sad. ohh.. question. i want to see if our schools are just weird or if everyones school does this. does anyone else have a jazz band at their school? those who do, do you have clarinets or just saxs, tombones, trumpets, etc.

Yeah. But they do more solos than anything else. Moonlight Serenade is a nice one like that... All the saxes are expected to be able to also play clarinet and flute, and vice versa. Don't know why...

...so many new people lol confused wheres dear nevira!? DX
chair stuff is really whimsical...back in seventh grade I was...eighth or eleventh chair out of 20 or so...then I practiced like crazy...long tones...scales....everything in the summer...first chair last year :].
beaniegurl: yeah we have a jazz band, no we don't...ahh But i remember cbda all state, in eighth grade last year there was this clarinetist/saxophonist...he was such a wonderful player, had solos for clarinet in the jazz band, twas crazy.
ahh gonk gonk gonk I have two auditions! a youth wind ens audition [Honestly i'd rather be trying out for an orchestra sweatdrop ] and a audition for tanglewood woooh heart so I better practice.
just wanted to say HI! to all the new....people...so many =P

Hi guys! im a smore (sophmore) in highschool and i have been playing clarinet for *counts fingers* 5 years. Obviously clarinets are the best instrument in the world. YAH!!! CLURRRRRRNETs rule! lol
ok so i signed up for solo and ensemble today and im having a HUGE problem with my grades so im trying to keep my grades up but its really hard since im in honors and everyone is 16 17 and 18 and i just turned 15. so it takes me a year to FINALLY understand geometry...so im pretty sure my lightbulb will turn on next year and i will say to myself "why did i not understand this last year" ..
Its tough.... im about to get kicked out of honors since im failing Algebra2 and Chemistry for the semester...

when i got progress report i was failing pre-ap science and math<--which sucks!.
But i only go to middle school and is an 8th and goes to whms(woodlake hills)

hey i play clarinet, well i just started in middle school second year which is concert band and im first chair and im sooo stressted for fba and solo and ensambles theirs comin and i present my solo and trio to my instructor and i currently suck at it so i have to practice so any1 give mi advice for anything since im a new comer (oh yeah speakin of which im goning to be in a parade and MARCH woot woot this will be funn because this is my firs time marching and i ope i wont die or mess up like i did durin practice XDD) sweatdrop

Don't worry.everyone messes up once in their life.
When i tried out for region band my 7th grade year i got like 62nd chair out of like 100 clarinets.But my 8th grade(which i'm currently am in right now)I made 15th chair out of like 100 clarinets and i made region band,and i was so happy when i made the region band.

But i only go to middle school and is an 8th and goes to whms(woodlake hills) Chm im in 7th what chair r u and whats ur solo etc. mines reverie and barqooe tune or sum thin like that so anyway nica ro meet cha im rinestone rin(steel drums nick name XDD i said rin and hey mixed it to rinestone rin xp ) HA speakin of failing grades i hate pre-algebra and civics two most hated teachers and classes i have a current d or c in both clases he maybe i thkn an f wel the nine weeks are almost over they'll go up when i get a b on my assement i always get bs on my assements which is strange O.o

i had a 60 somthing in pre-ap science and a 50 something in math and now i'm not sure if i'm going to pass the next report card and do solo and ensemble.

When i tried out for region band my 7th grade year i got like 62nd chair out of like 100 clarinets.But my 8th grade(which i'm currently am in right now)I made 15th chair out of like 100 clarinets and i made region band,and i was so happy when i made the region band. wow thats alot of clarinets i never have tried out for all state (i live in florida where do you) and usually they only accept like 20 35 clarinets too i never mess up unless i think to hard about it but like when i chill and think of say my friends i can relax and play fine and thats what i did last year i go a superior most of us did but i only had a 1 last year this year i took on a two and another two (trio) we never have practiced together except until tommorow so lets see how that goes xd

I live in Texas.In our region band there are 3 bands.Band 1(which is the top band to make),Band 2 west zone(which i don't know about),and Band 2 east zone(which is the band i made).
The first time you ever go into a room with random people you don't know you get nervous and your heart starts to beat really fast and you start to shake.
But the 2nd time you go in the room with the random people your calm,your heart doesn't beat that fast,but you still shake(which i did).
