Hellene Harpie

"Oops! Ha ha, well, they don't make them like they used to," she stammered, putting the utensil shards down and looking at her lunch tray. "I wasn't going to eat this anyway. So...what are you going to do?"

Draconia was greatly encouraged by Hellene's words. If Hellene could say that Lin wasn't 'so bad at all,' that was about as ringing an endorsement as Draconia needed to hear.

And after all, Glen and Chase would be right there with her if anything went awkward....or embarrassing...or just happened to explode. What a grand idea having it be a double date was! Draconia was so thankful to Glen for putting the thought into properly organizing it as such. Clearly, he had put a lot of thought into this entire ordeal.

Draconia smiled warmly at her beastie Hellene. But then, something tugged at her ruby heartstring.

"Oh, dear...I've been so thoughtless!"
She admonished herself. "Here I am, going on and on about this date, and you've being so kind sitting here and listening to me. Hellene, I'm so insensitive! I haven't even asked you if you have any plans for tonight!"

Dashner Hawke

"I'll be right back. I promise." He said, walking over to Kai, Glen and Harry. "Yo yo yo, bro's! What's fresh?"

Kai grinned at Dashner.

"Have a seat, brutha. This is going to take a little bit of hexplaining..." As Dashner sat, Kai launched into the story, filling Dashner in on all of the details of the last few days. Dashner had been so busy getting ready for the big Graveball game, that he had no idea about Woestock.

"A fearstival!" Kai sold Dashner on the idea. "All about bruthahood and coming together and sax and drums and rock and roll!"

Kai told Dashner about Harry's plans for musical entertainment, to be headlined by Atomica & the R.I.P. He told Dashner about how the fearstival had a theme of equality for inorganic life forms and how it'd be held in the caves near Haunted Hollow Park - now that the Kobolds who lived there had agreed to allow it.

"And the beast part, brutha, the VERY beast part...Harry's said we can play as part of the opening act! We can get THE BAND back together!" Kai's claws clenched into fists and he pounded the creepateria table excitedly. "But we can't do it without you, you know? We need your keytar up on the stage. I can't imagine our band without a keytar."

It was after this heart-felt pitch to Dashner that Kai turned his attention back to Harry. While it was true that the Boo Band was nothing without a keytar, it was probably doubly true that the Boo Band was extra nothing if it didn't have him playing his ukelele....which he couldn't if he was in Deadtention during Woestock like Mr. Hackington intended.
Harry Herne

"Shape- nope, dude. Ha, that would be awesome if they were. But, they're MASTERS OF HEXGUISE!"

"No we're not."

"My groovy goblin gal pal here is being modest. You should see gibberish with a makeup kit."

"Hm...." Kai thought. "Mmmmaybe....I mean, if this were a truly fair deadtention, I wouldn't have any problem going to it. But it was really UN-fair, and Mr. Hack didn't even give us a chance to hexplain! If your friends are really truly okay with having to sit through some deaducational films for us on a Saturday....then okay! Let's go for it!"

Kai gave Harry's butler his patented lopsided grin.

"But I'll really, really owe you one for it, okay?"

Arillena

So....hungry....

Rory was still frozen in mid-step a few paces away from the Creepateria door. He could see Dashner, Kai, Glen and Arillena sitting at a near table. He had an extra good view of Arillena enjoying what appeared to be the biggest, freshest, moistest, most expertly-frosted cake of all time.

Just the cake. Nothing else. The lunch of champions!

*rrrrmmmbblll*

Rory's stomach growled. It didn't seem to care that the creepateria was the location of yesterday's humiliation and subsequent trauma-inducing breakup. All that the stomach wanted was a bit of that cake.

*step*

Without even intending, Rory took one step forward.

"Oh, no! Back, back, back..." He tried to tell his legs. He could see Spectra floating off in a corner, studying her iCoffin intently. Maybe she was doing research for a new story. Maybe she'd glance over and see him and splash his image back on the front page of the Ghostly Gossip.

*step step*

Rory was IN the creepateria now...the smells of food smashing him in the face like aromatic hammers of deliciousness.

"Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear..." His eyes darted around, trying to figure out who was staring at him. It seemed, at least at first glance, that no one cared one jot that he was now in the creepateria, strolling towards Arillena with a starved look on his face. It was almost as if yesterday's gossip didn't matter today!

Who'd have thunk?!

Suddenly, Rory found himself standing behind Arillena.

"Oh! Uh....hi." He said, his voice cracking halfway through, as it always did at the least convenient times. "S-so, nice to see you again, today. You kind of left the game early last night...."

Rory stared at Arillena's rapidly vanishing cake and swallowed.

"You, uh...." He trailed off, and his cheeks burned a whiter shade of pale. "You wouldn't be willing to share some of that, would you?"

Hearing a Slightly timid voice behind her Arillena turned her head. The Fae paused, having just popped another slice in her mouth, as she registered the speaker and what he said. She quickly swallowed her piece and smiled brightly. "Rory! Hello~ I am glad to see you are... um, well?" She glanced back at her cake and laughed slightly at the hungry look in his eyes.

With out hesitating and Reaching into her seemingly bottomless bag she pulled out a plastic knife and paper plate. Growing up moving from place to place left her with the habit of carrying nearly everything she may possibly need on the move with her, everywhere. Moving the knife to the opposite end of her cake she sliced a good chunk off, set it on the plate and handed it to her friend. "Did you forget your lunch today?"

"Also..." The Changeling turned around completely with an odd expression on. "Did I um... Did something happen? That made me leave early you said? I uh..." She glanced away nervously. "I can't exactly recall the last time we spoke." Whatever happened must not have been as horrible as she had feared, everyone still spoke to her normally.

Dashner merely jumped out of his feathers. "THE BAND CAN GET BACK TOGETHER?!?!?!?!?!" He exclaimed, trying to not jump up and down. They had an awesome time as the band. He remembered the talent show, and all their pimp clothes and such. It was early in his time at Monster High, but it was a certainly a memory he could never forget!!

But then he suddenly stopped.

"Wait... What about Grey? I mean, I'm all for the band and all bro, but it just won't be the original band without him. Isn't he still somewhere in outerspace?"

Dashner sat down, rubbing his claws together. "I dunno, I kinda really miss him. Have you talked to Nero?" He said, waving slightly at Harry.

"Are you sure that your goblin friends can, uh...help us with deadtention, Harry? Ohhhh....Are THEY shapeshifters too?!" Kai gave an appraising look to Harry's butler, Gobbledygook. If Goblins were shapeshifters, and Arillena's pet/friend/companion was a shapeshifter....then maybe her pet/friend/companion was actually STANDING RIGHT THERE ALL ALONG~

"That sounds-" Peggy began, as Dashner got distracted. He grinned, then looked at Peggy.

"I'll be right back. I promise." He said, walking over to Kai, Glen and Harry. "Yo yo yo, bro's! What's fresh?"

Peggy watched him go. Must have been important to leave mid sentence. That was okay, it gave her time to think it over. A concert.. meh. Not very hextreme, but she could always MAKE it hextreme. She grinned.

Heimdal stared at her from his place in her bag

Oh no, young lady. I know that look. Don't you do it. DON'T.... YOU.... DO... IT"

Peggy put up her hands in a placating manner.

"who. me? Never" blaugh

Arillena
"I can't exactly recall the last time we spoke." Whatever happened must not have been as horrible as she had feared, everyone still spoke to her normally.

"Mm ffm fm fffph phmm hmm." Rory replied, mouth full of cake. The truth was, he had forgotten his lunch this morning, in a fit of breakup-induced ennui. Surely, a boo who had 'done wrong' like so many songs had described didn't deserve a well-prepared lunch, right? Too bad his stomach's needs had overriden his brain's need to angst.

That was beside the point though, now. Rory swallowed and tried again.

"Spectra was bothering us for quotes about her, uh, story from lunchtime yesterday. I assumed that you got tired of her pestering, because you gave her a really weird statement and then sort of...walked off." Rory glanced over at Spectra, who was still floating in mid-air, entranced by her iCoffin. "I hope she didn't get you too mad...I kind of get how Spectra feels. She's sort of between two worlds, this world and the ghost world. And everything that happens here is so much more interesting than her home dimension."

Rory left out the fact that, before convincing his mother to let him attend Monster High, he'd spent most of his free time spying on observing the students at this school.

"She gets caught up in drama and sort of...embellishes things when she doesn't know all the details. And everymonster sort of gets a kick out of it because, well, it's got enough of a kernel of truth to be really juicy gossip. And I guess, well...if it's not a really big deal, everymonster forgets about it the next day. Like you can see nobody's paying any attention to us now..." Though that didn't mean there weren't consequences, Rory thought to himself. No amount of distraction was going to turn back the clock and un-do yesterday's break-up.

To do that would require a time-travel device, and Rory was relatively sure that no one at school had invented one this scaremester. He took another big bite of cake.

"You said something to her about something not being an accident, which did a great job of giving her something else to think about! So, I guess you know the beast way to distract a gossip ghoul."

Nero got out of the lurch line and grimaced at his tray. Was this the thing that had been giving him that creeping feeling of dread for the last hour? It looked pretty gross, but it wasn't any different than the creepeteria's food usually was. Opting for safety, he'd grabbed mostly fruit.

He looked around for a table. The place had filled up while he was struggling with his locker (locker troubles: probably not dread worthy). He'd managed to score some mystery 8-tracks from a mummy down in lower little zombie town and the great big brick thing you had to play them on. 8-tracks were old, but probably not worthy of the six or seven chills that had gone down his spine.

Not far away sat a couple of his bluddies. Maybe he just needed to relax. Surely a few minutes with his bird bro and his beast bro in the world would put his mind at ease. And there was that hippy bro from their most recent, most hexcellent escapade.

"Hey guys," he said cheerfully, grabbed a seat at the table.

Kai and Dashner looked up as Nero sat, then up a little further, then down a little as Nero actually got into the chair.

"Hey brutha," Kai replied, "got enough fruit there? It's like you grabbed the whole orchard."

Nero shrugged. "I got a weird feeling about the food. I've been getting a weird feeling all day. Not quite panic, but I dunno. I don't have a test, none of my equipment is broken..."

"It'll come to you, whatever it is," Dashner said, "meanwhile, we have news!"

Nero suppressed a shudder. There it was again!

"Yeah? Is that why you two looked so stoked even from across the room? What's up? Demona back in town for a visit?"

Yes! This had to be fate! Except for Roswell, who was probably somewhere on the other side of the Andromeda galaxy right now, they had the entire band in one place! A big smile started to creep across Kai's face.

"Well....you remember what we were discussing yesterday, Nero? About the halfslime show, even though the pieces didn't quite fall into place?"

Kai put one arm around Glen and the other around Dashner.

"Well, I've been working on it, and look! We can get the band back together for Woestock!"

"Well, I've been working on it, and look! We can get the band back together for Woestock!"

Nero had been just about the take a bite from an apple. This did not happen. His muscles all reflexively flexed at once. He crushed the apple, spraying the table and bros with bits of fruit.

"Hey!" and "Watch it!" they chorused.

Nero's grin was a frozen rictus. He forgot how to blink. On no, oh no, no no no no.

"Wh-what?" he managed to squeak out.

"Isn't it great!" Kai beamed, "see, he's speechless!"

Nero was slowly blanching down the blue spectrum, going from his normal rich navy to a remarkably sickly sky blue.

"Th-the band?" he stammered.

Glen and Dashner did a happy fist bump before extending their fists towards him. Nero stared, uncomprehendingly, leaving the, hanging in the air, unbumped.

"Come on, his claws are all appley now," said Kai.

"Sorry bro," Dashner said, smiling sheepishly and withdrawing his fist. "We were just talking about what to do about Roswell."

Nero gasped, finally inhaling and returning to normal color.

"YES. ROSWELL. WE CANNOT JAM WITHOUT SPACEBRO, IT WOULD NOT BE THE SAME," he blurted.

Arillena wasn't even listening to the others around her at the point as she focused on Rory's retelling of what happened. She felt all the tension and fogginess in her head fade away as she sighed in relief. "So she didn't wake up after all..." The Fae whispered. It was when he mention the word 'accident' that Ari froze. She felt a shock run down her spine and literally turned a ghostly white head to toe.

"I- I said... what?" Bit by bit her conversation with Spectra slowly returned to her- at least the first half of it. "D-Distract? Um, Yes~ A distraction~ I- I'm glad it um... seemed to work?" The ghoul's coloring slowly faded to normal as she looked around nervously.

"I um... I have to go."
Ari said standing up suddenly and hiding her face behind her hair. Leaving her cake behind she grabbed her bag and started for the exit.

"Arillena?"

The changeling didn't stop until she heard the cafeteria doors close behind her.

I wanted to leave that behind... Why does she insist on reminding me everywhere I go?

Ari turned down a hallway. Walking usually calmed her nerves. She caught a glance at the Mirrors out of order sign. "At least she cannot use those to haunt me anymore."

"Here I am, going on and on about this date, and you've being so kind sitting here and listening to me. Hellene, I'm so insensitive! I haven't even asked you if you have any plans for tonight!"

Doriana

"I'm..." Hellene started, looking at her friends expectant faces.

"I'm..."

She watched a ghoul sitting at an otherwise all boos table suddenly get up and rush out of the creepeteria. Her thought resolved instantly into a mostly-formed plot, like the often did.

"I'm organizing a Ghoul's Night!" she announced triumphantly.

Draconia's eyes lit up.

"A ghouls night? That sounds like fun."

"No no, a Ghoul's Night, capitalization and punctuation are very important in this particular evening."

"But...how can you hear..."

"I absolutely can!" And it was possible. If you talked as much as Hellene did, maybe you learned how to pronounce capitals.

"I'm organizing a fun night for all the ghouls for whom there is no date, for those whom are abstaining from the practice of dating and for those who are ghouls and just wanna have fun," she continued, "we'll go out to eat and see a boovie, I hear that Grimderella just opened and it's reinterpretting the whole story without a prince at all but rather a loan so that Grimderella can open a shoe store and the prince is the bank manager. I don't know how you conduct business at a fancy ball but Kenndeath Branaaargh is directing and he can do anything."

She paused to take a breath and Draconia leaped in while she had the chance.

"That'sagreatidea! *gasp* That's wonderful. Who are you inviting?"

"Well Doriana, of course," Hellene said, nodding towards the selkie, "and I'm sure I'll find some more ghouls throughout the day."

Her thoughts went back to the ghoul who so suddenly left the creepeteria. Probably all those bros, never trust bros. Surely Hellene could find her in the halls somewhere.

"YES. ROSWELL. WE CANNOT JAM WITHOUT SPACEBRO, IT WOULD NOT BE THE SAME," he blurted.

Kai looked crestfallen. It was true that Roswell Gray seemed to be on the other side of the galaxy right now - a downside to his alien student exchange status.

If only there was a way to have Roswell there, even if he wasn't actually there. If only there could be a way to still have his charisma...his sick guitar licks...his harmonious vocals...without a physical presence.

If only-

"BOO-PAC!" Kai suddenly hexclaimed.

"Gesundheit!" Dashner replied.

"No...Boo-Pac, the rapper! Don't you remember his last performance?" Kai asked his bluddies. Nero raised an eyebrow.

"You mean his last-last performance? But that wasn't actually Boo-Pac, bro, that was...a....hologram..." Nero trailed off, as if suddenly realizing what Kai was proposing.

Kai grinned with hexcitement.

"That's right! A hologram Roswell Gray! If we had a hologram performing with us, we could totally get the band back together WITH all the members without making Roswell travel light years to get back here!"

Kai turned to Glen.

"Glen, there's gotta be something in my dad's lab that'll do the trick isn't there? You were helping him with his hexperiments and I saw that there was some sort of holographic projection of DNA you were working on."

"Yeah..." Glen nodded as he mused. "Yeah! We'd just have to get some of Roswell's old performances, and feed them into the projector, do a few adjustments to the stage....Nero, you have all of the Bro Band's old practices recorded, don't you?"

"Uh...y-yeah, for...research purposes..." Nero replied, guardedly. "But I don't think using a hologram in place of Spacebro is really in the spirit of the band..."

"Oh, you're so modest, Nero!" Kai replied. "You know how much Roswell loves new musical technology! Imagine how thrilled he'd be to know he's reaching people in two space quadrants at once!"

Dashner, Glen and Kai looked at Nero expectantly. Could this be it? Could this be the confirmation that they could, in fact, get the band back together?

Arillena

"Arillena?"

The changeling didn't stop until she heard the cafeteria doors close behind her.

"Uh....bye?" Rory called out after her. He wondered if just abruptly getting up and leaving was a part of changeling culture.

He looked at his watch. It ran in the opposite direction of non-mirror universe watches, but that was how he was used to telling time. The lunch hour was quickly nearing its end. Then there would be just a few hours left until school was out for the freakend...and the sad, wretched lonliness of being dateless for Date Night.

Rory looked at Dashner, who was grouped up with Kai, Glen and Nero talking hexcitedly. He looked over a few tables down at Peggy Springwell. He wondered if she was a Johnathan Bolt-on fang. Rory had bought the tickets specifically because Marceline was a big fang of Bolt-on's form of quirky monster pop. It was one of the things that made her so...so special...so....

"So perfect!" Rory lamented, before realizing he'd spat those words out loud. He suddenly realized everyone at the table had stopped what they were doing and were staring at him. Rory flushed a dark shade of mirror and started eating the cake Arillena had left.

"It's uh...it's really good cake."
He hexclaimed between bites.

"Great! That's settled!"

Glen wrung his fingers in defright! All plans to bring their boo band back together were working out bootifully, especially now that Kai came up with the perfect solution for their missing band member.

That settled, Glen could focus on something just as important, perhaps even more so: seconds!

His red eyes stared at the now empty bowl on his tray, devoid of Friday Fright Stew. His tummy growled audibly and he sure could go for another helping before lunch ended. The problem was....

He looked up at the end of the creepateria where the lurch line was with all that glorious fiendish food, then back to his tray.

How in Oz was he to get it?
