Haldia smiled and knelt down to put one hand on Miyuki's head gently.

"I live far," she told the child softly. "Perhaps when big you grow, your mother take you to me visit, yes?"

She smiled at Lin. "You will visit, will you not?" she asked, reverting to her own tongue. "I do wish to see all of you again ..."

"Hai! Again," Miyuki half repeated to Haldia, though she probably didn't quite understand what the second word was.

There were advantages to mimicking everyone she knew, it was a good thing most people spoke common tongue otherwise it would have been difficult to understand her.

Lin chuckled at that, "Of course, it would be wonderful to visit you again."

Haldia smiled. "I think I be leave in the morning," she told everyone. "Stay one night last."

Earendil smiled and put one hand on her shoulder. "We're glad to have you stay," he told her sincerely. "We will be sad to see you go."

But he understood it had to be done.

Miyuki pouted a bit, not really understanding why Haldia had to go.

"Halda stay?"

"Just for one more night," Lin murmured to Miyuki, "And we'll miss you."

She addressed this to Haldia, and she did mean it. To visit one of the islands would be much harder than anywhere else. It could be much, much longer until they see each other again.

Haldia smiled. "As I will miss all of you," she murmured. Her smile grew wider. "But let us enjoy today then, so that we leave each other with happy memories, yes?"

"That sounds like a plan," Earendil grinned. He turned to Lin, and his smile grew less certain. "What about you?" he asked softly. "I know you were talking about leaving after winter ..."

Lin sighed, it had been 12 weeks and while Miyuki's ability to talk had grown in leaps and bounds. Her and Earendil's position on everything seemed to be at a stand still. She was grateful at least she wasn't uncomfortable around him, in fact she had been perhaps too comfortable around him?

Though knowing now that Miyuki's view of a home was a bit strewed she was going to have to fix that.

"I'll probably have to head home too, if for no other reason than to introduce Miyuki to home properly."

Earendil nodded, but he felt a twinge of sadness. It really shouldn't have surprised him that she still called Gaia home, but for the past month he had been considering the words she had spoken on the mountaintop: that she would someday settle here, that this world would become her home.

He set his jaw determinedly. He would have to talk to her before she left. He just had to!

"Be sure to say hello to Shiro and Kaito and Ura and Storm and Starr for us!" Leyenda beamed at Lin while Earendil was busy with his thoughts. "Tell them we wish they'd come with you! They missed out on a lot of fun!"

Lin laughed at that, "I'll be sure to tell them all this."

Really she knew she would have to visit Shiro, because he had to know about the change of events that had been going on.

"It'll be good to visit everyone at home," she added, "With so many siblings I couldn't get a proper introduction in for Miyuki even if everyone probably knows about her by now."

That evening, after dinner, when everyone was heading off to bed, Earendil tapped Lin lightly on the shoulder to catch her attention before she could also disappear on him. He had been strangely quiet all day, contemplative, but now he had resolved that he would speak with her if it killed him.

"Lin," he murmured softly, "once Miyuki is in bed and settled down, would you care to join me for a walk?"

Lin blinked, she knew something had been on his mind but she didn't know what. So she nodded at his request, it sounded... very important.

"It'll probably just take a few minutes," she smiled, "Seeing spring all around her, she's run around a lot. Tired herself out."

Which was a good thing she thought as she turned to get Miyuki ready for bed.

Earendil smiled. "Well ... I'm not sure I would say spring, but you're right, it is beginning to get nicer outside."

He hesitated, contemplating offering to help her prepare Miyuki for bed, but he decided against it and simply said, "I'll wait for you in the playroom. Don't rush yourself."

"Alright, I'll see you in a few then," Lin nodded as she went off.

It took a tad longer than expected to get Miyuki into bed, but only because Miyuki didn't understand why her mother wasn't going to bed with her. Lin couldn't explain that she was going to spend time with Earendil, because Miyuki would certainly want to come along.

After much convincing and a few lull-byes (who would have though she would be singing those?) Miyuki finally drifted off to sleep. Allowing Lin to meet up with Earendil in the playroom.

Earendil had been looking out the window while he had waited for Lin, lost in his thoughts, but when she entered the room, he looked over at her and smiled.

"You may want your cloak," he murmured, nodding towards the window. "It looks a bit cool out there."

He was already wearing his, and really he didn't mind if Lin needed to go get hers.

Lin held up her cloak that she had grabbed from her room noting how late it had gotten. It was barely out of winter, so it was no surprise it would be cold in the evenings.

"I thought ahead of time," Lin smiled as she put it on.

Earendil smiled softly.

"Good," he murmured, rising from his seat. He motioned towards the door. "When you're ready," he smiled.

He was in no rush. His heart was pounding, despite his calm exterior. He had no idea how this would go, or what he would even say. But he knew that if he didn't take this opportunity he would regret it forever.
