But more importantly, DURARARA!!
...It's similarly confusing at first. You need to make a concerted effort to memorize everyone's names, but it pays off if you do. It also helps to know everyone's screennames.
Colored white for spoiler's sake.
Kanra, the orange one is Izaya (he pretends to be a girl), Tanaka Taro, the blue one is Mikado and the black one, Setton, is Celty.
Shizuo is the best character, hands down. I've watched episode 3 SO MANY TIMES. Izaya kind of pisses me off, but his sisters just scare me.
EDIT: The part with Shizuo makes me crack up.

OH, IT SOUNDS LOVELY.
If it's anything like Baccano! in awesomeness, then I'm sure I'll love it.
You see, I'm the shallow sort.
I only watch anime if its beautiful.

The art needs to make me happy.
Baccano! did that.
As did Princess Tutu.
And Kuroshitsuji.
And of course, Soul Eater.

Admittedly, I didn't like Soul Eater initially because the art failed so hard. Thankfully it got better.
I'm surprised I suffered through the Elfen Lied manga.

You see, Soul Eater surprised me.
I thought I'd hate it, but I love the beautiful contortions on some of the character's faces.
Like, Crona.
But mostly Medusa.
I loved the weird, twisted way they looked sometimes, and how clean it looked in the anime.
The first few chapters in the anime upset me, but I kept reading because I loved Death the Kid's character design.
And it got better.
And the anime is gorgeous.

Izaya and Shizuo are both my favorite characters ever!!!
Though, I think I like Shizuo a bit better! xd
One of the Best Izaya scenes ever!!!
OH! Cylem, have you seen ep 7 yet? It has Shizuo's life story.
(he's so cute as a little kid!!! 4laugh )
I thought I was gonna hate it too, then Koji and Cylem got me into it- and I lurvs it! xd

I know what you mean. After Death the Kidd, I read it because it was funny, but SE turned out to have the absolute BEST fight scenes of any manga I've ever read. The Mifune/Black*Star fight was particularly well-done. I spent half of it physically cringing from the sheer intensity of it. Ookubo Atsushi really isn't afraid to play with exaggeration of both character designs and art styles, even during serious moments which really plays up the drama and the creepiness.
That's the beauty of anime in general, the art style causes the willing suspension of disbelief to be so great, you can get away with some really extreme stuff and have a great time of it. The same thing happened with Gurren Lagann.
....I'm really in AP Literature mode right now... let's see if I can apply this to Shakespeare...

@MQuinn: I saw it last night. I was in complete fangirl mode once I found out the episode was dedicated to Shizuo. I love him 5,000x more now after that thing with the nice shopkeeper lady.

Yes, yes! Totally! It wins the award for fight scenes hands down. In the manga, it was well done. In the anime...god! Just beautiful! I wanted to hug my computer! Maka's scythe twirling made me tear up a bit. From an artist's standpoint, I was just enamored.
The prettiest character designs I've seen this year, though, had to have come from Kuroshitsuji. I absolutely love Ciel's design in that. Really, the young people are well done, and the clothing is just lovely. Real attention to detail and beautiful shading there.
Princess Tutu was one of the most beautifully animated things I've ever seen as well, though. Don't even talk to me about the manga, though--it makes me upset--but the anime is brilliant. I just wish they could have given us a little more detailed dances from time to time. I'm not familiar with ballet, but this anime made it look freakin' baddass.
And Baccano!
What's to be said about Baccano besides the fact that they captured the 1930s wonderfully? I mean, New York at least. I loved the clothes too.

He was so cute when he picked up that frigerator and broke his neck.
Then when he was working for the Power Rangers and attacked the green one! mrgreen xd
His little brother made me laugh too! His face stayed the same the entire time!! xd

Baccano! Wins the voice acting award and I've only seen the first episode. I mean, I'll listen to any dub just because I'm lazy when it comes to subtitles, but I really love the accents. xd
Oh, and another reason to watch Durarara!!, Shizuo Heiwajima is voiced by Sebastian Michealis~ They sound NOTHING alike, but they've got the same seiyuu. xd
Kuroshitsuji has the best manga art, I think. It's just so... pretty. It manages to combine shonen-clean lines with the dainty, shoujo facial features that suit the time period so well.
Also, there's a torture sequence in DRRR!! where they have a guy pick a manga title as a theme for torture. The victim chooses Kuroshitsuji because it looks tamer (than Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan. xd ) but the torture technicians almost end up soldering his eye in an attempt to "forge a contract" with him. xd
The anime breezed over it, but the manga made it far more dark.
