There are places a homeless person could get help here, including but not limited to a Community Center we had completely moved and renovated just this last year, several places people donate food for the needy, but as far as a permanat soup kitchen I dont think thier is one here.
3nodding But if a person wanted I believe they wouldnt be bothered if they were law-abiding and didnt cause trouble, to live in town in a few places that could be alternate shelter.
3nodding In some cases the homeless live a free-er life than we dont and could be healthier to becuase they live off of lesser means so they eat perhaps healthier on average than we do sadly.
sweatdrop I do admit though, like Kin said it would be nice to live out of a vehicle or have a small shack or cabin out in the woods here. ^8^
That's great that there's a new community center there. I'm sure it's a blessing to those who struggle with basic survival.
Believe me, you have to be really smart and really creative to be homeless and survive comfortably. Here are some of the things I know from working with homeless people:
The shelters here have some crazy criminals who attack for no reason in the middle of the night.
The shelters are closed during the day, no matter what the weather is, and even for pregnant women.
The public library is a decent place to hang out, but falling asleep gets the person thrown out and/or banned.
The public library and the shelters can both be closed during bad weather, and then what?
The homeless are not welcome in many stores so they have to keep in mind where the bathrooms are at all times.
The police are well aware of who the homeless are. They'll arrest for loitering, trespassing, littering, drinking in public, open container, peeing in public, sleeping on park benches. The jail is cold and the jumpsuits are thin and sleeveless. Brrr. The food is sometimes disgusting.
The homeless people have to carry all their belongings with them or they'll get stolen by another homeless person.
Sometimes idiots think it's sport to paintball the homeless... or worse.
