If the gap closed and Roland still did nothing, Moonblade would lunge forward with a thrust. He had the advantage of distance, so he didn't necissarily have to get all that close to attack. Openning attacks were a pain in the a** anyways, but failing one didn't mean endgame.

It was pretty, really. One might consider it a temple, if it weren't for the lack of tribute statues to some god or goddess, for the woods, or the wild. There were, simply, four walls, big as an Olympic sized swimming pool. There were trees, from the simple cobble-stone floor, almost mosaic as it made circles, vague pictures.... And too and fro, animals paced. Not just your typical one clique type animals. No, there were birds, there were wolves, there were lions, there were lizards. And, sketchily, there too were the elements. The ceiling was far, far away, perhaps didn't even exist. But there was sunlight, and there was cloud-movement, casting shadows, and from time to time, rain as well, pattered off of the stones.

And the middle of it all stood a man, looking like some.... dare one say it... Spartan. No suit of armor, except gauntlets, baring fingertips, and a skirt of mail, all the way down to his ankles, tickling boots that rose to his knees. Beneath the skirt, woolen, rough-knit pants gaped with holes, obviously made by some blind maiden. On top, a similiar object, crafted with a hood of holes, that did little to hide his face or turn away the elements. His hair was messy, medium length, and a dark mixture of red and black, an almost blood-brown. And hanging from that skirt, via a belt woven through elongations of the links was two swords, as well as two lengths of chain. Held by a a strip of leather.

He looked fairly content to be lost, hands on pommels, eyes skyward, enjoying wind and rain alike, for his hair was soaked with the elements, clumping slightly. Even through the sunlight, his visage burned a neon green with luciferase, when they weren't closed against ethereal raindrops.

He waited, it seemed, on a man to join him, so that they might make music.

The footsteps were rhythmic as a steady click clock of shoe soles against the floor like the ticks of a clock counting down the seconds of ones life. The steps of a Reaper making his way toward his destination.

He wore a pair of black slacks with a black shirt with its sleeves rolled up just above his elbows. Atop that shirt was a blue pinstripe vest, all nicely pressed as if he was ready for a night out on town. His right arm was noticeably bandaged in white medical wrap, a wrap which vanished beneath his sleeve and a black leather glove which covered his right arm. Maximos' clothes were made of cotton, the inner lining of his vest, as silk. Beneath his clothes was skin. Flatly put Maximos didnt wear armor, and he didnt openly carry a weapon. He liked to view himself as person first, a warrior second...if ever.

One might notice that the skin of his left arm was covered in some sort of black runic tattoo and that a flat marble, was being rolled across his knuckles, back and forth. As he reached this large man, his would be opponent he flicked his hand upwards and then snatched the marble up into the palm of his hand.

The animal, the setting, the rain and what not, none of that really mattered to him. Only this figure across from him with which he would soon be crossing blades.

Shall we?

The other man would turn to meet this noise, or drop his head and open those eerie eyes. They had no pupil. No white. No black. One a soft green, the other a lucid silver. Behind human flesh. It wasn't some magic enchantment, but rather a blatant disfigurement. He'd take a slight bow. Left arm went acrossed his front, right acrossed his back, and he would dip his torso forward, but keep his eyes upon his opponent.

"We shall."

Maximos didnt attack those that werent ready, that was dishonorable, and if one wasnt going to fight with honor then they shouldnt fight at all. Didnt assume a battle stance, because he didnt have one. Combat wasnt about stances it was about combat.

He waited for his opponent to bow, and ran a finger along the brow of his right eye. The eye was white as opposed to his left eye which was black. As per always Maximos wouldnt arm himself until his opponent did so. He wouldnt use powers, until his opponent did so.

The first move belongs to you.

He said calmly, his stance loose, waiting for the above requested move.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 14, 2007 12:58 pm

The man smiled, and relaxed as well, not having some particular form to press his body into, to enable him to greater heights of combat... He just relaxed, and moved a little bit, fidgeting.

"Thanks." He says, and though his voice, as low as it was, shouldn't have carried, the room they were in seemed to carry it. Placing one foot in front of the other, fast as they could, for the man was built of muscle, built for the arena, he'd pedal forward, before bringing his left hand up from his side and acrossed, aiming to smash Maxi in the jaw with what could be called a combination of Upper-cut and Hook.

The man was fast! Not as fast as Maximos, but he was indeed fast. He watched unflinching as the distance between them was closed. As the distance nearly reached nothing, he stepped forward at his opponent A fist was soaring for his jaw, Maximos' left hand came up and around in a sweeping motion. To push his opponents fist off to his left from outside and far off cue, while he stepped forward to swinging a firm right for the mans open jaw, using his step and his considerable speed to make the punch rather vicious.

As he was using his left, he was coming from outside the man's reach, meaning the only real arm available for his opponents defense was his left. And his opponents left was currently involved in punching, it'd be highly unlikely that his right would reach in time.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 14, 2007 1:28 pm

The man knew and figured his hand would be deflected. But as the opposite came in, so did he imitate his opponent's previous, With a twist. With both of their arms out of the picture, they had two obvious choices to start swinging. But the man wasn't a common-place creature of sword and chivalry.

As both their arms were wide, and they were stepping towards each other, the action to take was obvious to him. Planting one foot behind quickly, and pushing off hard, he'd smash his forehead into Maxi's face.

One should really only attempt to mirror, when one is standing before one. This armored assailant had made a major miscalculation. Maximos had used his left to push him aside, and then struck with his right. That meant that he deflected with his his outside arm, and struck with his inside. The muscular warrior had struck with his outside arm, and was pushed away. They werent in the same position, if he mimicked Maximos move the very worst he could do was push one of his arms away and the other across his chest. He rendered the punch inept, true, but he did nothing to secure his attack.

Needless to say, headbutts were maneuvers that should only be performed when opponents are locked. Maximos shoved off his left foot, leaning back, heads had no range. His right arm came up to take the mans forehead, his opponent would likely hear and feel the gong as his forehead effectively struck the metal bar that served as the bone in Maximos' right arm. That alone should hurt.

Having leaned back, the shadow bounced off the ball of his opposite foot carrying him back into range, and allowing him to deliver a stern left kick straight his opponents chest, with a bit of extra oomph.

As his head was pummeled by his own doing, ringing ears didn't pause a burning sense of OH s**t. As the evade was made, the man realized he had a choice. Take a sturdy, powerful leg to his chest, and possibly break a rib, or go to the point of no return and start using his powers... For some reason, he had the suspicion that this man would only go as far as he himself would go, and the minute he used powers, he was in a whole new game... And a broken rib? In a physical match as this had proven so far off the bat, that would suck hard, fast, and bring him down quick.

And so, in the space of time as he saw the man pull back, his decision had been made. Gripping his shirt, His skin would take a tone of pale with a lingering. As the kick collided, it was like kicking a punching bag. It gave, but it did not break. He'd also fly quite a bit further, actually sailing quite a distance, to land on a foot and a knee, raising dust and sparks as the skirt went.

One might wonder... What exactly had he done? His ability was innate, something he pulled on and did not push out, but tucked about himself like armor. He had taken the element of wool, sturdy, strong material that it was, and tied it in with the adaptability and perseverence of his humanity, producing a think that could take hits, but not cuts. He'd gasp, and cough for a moment, pausing to test how... kind his opponent was.

Maximos cocked an eyebrow. Because in truth, any fighter worth his fists can tell the difference between striking flesh and striking something else. Granted this ability didnt allow him to read exactly what the material was. Though he could tell it wasnt anything worth being concerned about.

Not to mention, his opponent had now flown a bothersome distance away.

He had clearly done some magic trick, Maximos wasnt concerned he couldnt be defeated by such tricks. He simply stood his ground. If he was going to win this fight, his opponent would have to strike a blow eventually.

Resi smoothly went to his feet, groaning.

"Oh damn, boy-o. I was feelin' music, but not so much percussion..." He'd cough, a little wheezy due to his.... make-up.

"I'm Resi, by the way. Resident." His eyes drifted, observing the man with another cough...

"Wow..." Giving a slight shake out and then bringing his gauntleted hands up in a boxer-esque pose, he'd grin. "C'mon then, eh? I've learned my lesson, and your ploy. Your move now."

Maximos didnt have a move, so much as he had a reply.

Ploy?

He shook his head.

I dont use ploys. I fight until the fight is done.

He dusted a bit of lint off his foot before placing it back down on the ground.

Resident, hmm. I'm Maximos.

His right arm twitched twice. It was cursed. Everytime he moved that arm there was agony, it wasnt exactly a prized possession. But none the less the obliged the man, his rhythmic steps taking him straight to his opponent. About three steps in an odd black and faintly violet haze seemed to cover his right arm. It was like an aura of sorts, it would stay until he reached Resident. At which point he immediately sent a straight from his right fist to the dead center of his opponent's chest.

That would seem like such and easy attack to deflect. As any fighter would, they read the attack, its strength and its distance. And deflect or defend. He would be able to see Maximos' arm coming, and would assuredly be able to defend. Only things were off.

About half way through the punch, the black miasma fired off of his hand at twice the speed of the original punch, soaring directly for Resident's gut with incredible force. It would feel less like a human punch, and almost like it was fired out of cannon. Which basically meant, that if he was planning a defense, the sudden change in Maximos' tactics and the speed of the attack would likely ruin it. And so ruined, he would likely have an opponent for Maximos' actual fist to immediately follow after.

The plus side was while Maximos was punching, and his arm was caught in motion. The second shadow limb was not. If Residents only defense was to dodge. Then the shadow limb would likely change direction in this small space it was unlikely he would suddenly escape its 2ft of range. At which point Maximos was be given the time to adjust his actual arm accordingly. Basically bombarding the mans defense with two attacks.

Quote:
- Shadow Cannon - Umbra Pugnus
Maximos places a charge of shadow along his arm as he punches the shadow is viciously cast forward leading ahead of his punch by about a foot and traveling at roughly twice the speed. Depending on the length of the charge the shadow fist can impact with anything from the force of an unusually powerful punch, to a cannonball. The two strikes leave only a fraction of second between impact points allowing Maximos to capitalize on an already softened area causing a great deal of pain. That pain increasing greatly if through great effort the two strikes land simultaneously. If no target can be reached the shadow fist will continue to fly an extra 2 ft away from the full of extension of Maximos' arm.

Soft materials may take quite the beating, but put enough force on one spot, and they do tear.

The man had already been wary of the arm, once his head had hit it. He knew, on some no s**t level, that the thing spelled trouble. And so he preformed twofold. Boxer like pose is inverted in a scissor downward, vambraces knocking the fist off course, and if fast enough(Which is quite possible, given that he's now made of lighter, more limber stuff, he'd intercept the Umbra Pugnus In the gauntlets, again getting pushed back a significant distance. However, being flat-footed that he is, he's not graced with a beautiful landing as before. No, instead, he'd thrown backwards in a tilt-a-whirl tumble, some few feet away again.

Hooray for Enviroment fun! As distance yet again pushes Resi away from Maxi, it pushes him closer to something... hostile. However, the wolf is testing at first, snapping forward enough for Resi to grab the beast by the scruff and give it a whipsnap, snuffing it's life even as he pulls it's attributes into himself again. Before had been simple. Now was... complicated. To call him a wolf was to call an Ogre a human. Human construction remained, but sprouted jet-black fur, allthrough out. Gauntleted hands, with exposed fingertips, sprout black claws, and eyes shift and dilate. Nose becomes.... crunched, the man's face turning something commonly seen in the Clan of Gangrel, among Vampires. Ears elognated and the man rose from the dirt, gently casting aside the dead wolf with a frown.

"You, are frustrating." Finger pointed, lifting that gauntlet with ease now, as muscle and weight returned, actions more concise, now that he had a solid, muscular substance to him. Moments hesitation bring out the clink of a final straw... Melee? So much more. The weapon was haphazard, in unskilled hands, and was commonly taken up by Urban Barbarians... Chains. Only one for now, however, it wasn't simply links. Every other link sprouted metal barbs and caltrops, a weapon intended for disarming, rather than striking. But it'd do just as well, for now. The length is roughly eight feet entire, but the man holds it by both ends, reducing it to four. It would drag, as he circles his opponent, releasing an unintended, feral snarl of annoyance and frustration.

This was a fight not a romp at the zoo. Maximos wasnt interested in interspecies relations. His opponent was thrown back and he immediately closed the distance between them. He was fast.

He would be on Resi, way before the odd man had ever struck the ground. He'd kick off his right foot placing himself just a foot or so above the ground. Resident would able to see the change, the way the aura expanded and then tightend around Maximos' right pinning down the bandages and clothe. And then the way the black tendrils rose up from inside the arm thrashing wildly at the air before laying down over the arm, smothering the aura, and hardening into a sickly black armored claw.

His five fingers, were five talons. And his arm was a blackened metallic monstrosity. And for every bit as monstrous as it was, it was also strong. Very strong. Needless to say the metal would not give easily.

Before Resident touched the ground he kicked off with his right foot, lifting just slightly off the ground. Immediately his right hand shot forward in a sickly blur of black, cutting five distinct black streaks into the air in the wake of his five fingers, aiming to grab at his foe, and dig into his "flesh" with all five talons. It was highly unlikely that while in his "tilt-a-whirl", he would be able to see or defend the oncoming attack. And immediately, via gravity and superhuman force, slam him hard into the unforgiving ground below. He had more than enough force to bend steel, shatter stone, and viciously splinter wood.

Maximos
Crepusculum Macies | Twilight Gauntlet - Once awakened, usually by contact with blood or by Maximos' own will, the arm forges a black shadow gauntlet around Maximos' right arm. The tendrils seen lashing out, each lay down around the limb, squishing the sleave and creating the piece of armor. The gauntlet is armed with talon like fingers, and infused with superhuman strength. Though only in the one arm. Maximos while in total may only be able to life 300lbs, can lift up to 950lbs with his right arm alone.
