As more time passed, it seemed increasingly unlikely that the princess would calm herself. It had just been too much information to process. Or else, she might have just understood too well what was happening to her country. The king's daughter, Yvette, had made it all too clear during their last ball that she would rule however she pleased, despite the people's needs.
"Don't you understand, Seth? Your daughter is rebelling! She's waging a war right under your nose."
Seth was a tall, lean man with a rigid postire, but one could see the beginnings of stress take its toll on his age. Too soon, there were silver hairs hiding among his raven locks. His almond shaped eyes could no longer hide the dark circles formed by countless sleepless nights. However, Seth's voice would never be lost. The strength in his tone would always be felt through everything he said, as befitting the king he was.
"She could never do that. Yvette wouldn't ever think about hurting her family."
The woman, Aurora, was petite, barely above five feet, but her presence always seemed to demand more room, as if she were much larger. Her hair, which she always kept long and loose, rippled behind her as she paced angrily. Words were a difficult task, but when she felt determined, nothing would keep her from speaking her mind.
"Yvette does not think of you as family! She thinks you abandoned her mother. She does not understand the discipline and sacrifice needed to rule!" Taking a deep breath, she released it with a huff, her feet pausing their momentum just long enough for her to say, "You gave her a chance. You named her as heiress, yet she still defies you. She is spoiled, and is no longer fit to become queen. I refuse to bow my head to that royal brat."
The silence that fell between the king and princess was tense, but neither budged for several seconds. Aurora was serious, her posture still and firm until Seth finally spoke, his tone deadly. "Get out. You may be my niece, but that will not excuse treason. Leave before you say something even more foolish."
There was a moment where Aurora considered the option of leaving. She could keep quiet, turn around, and walk to her room. She could allow Yvette to grow older and become queen. She could even learn to ignore the country and it's people. But that was not Aurora.
"No." She responded through her teeth. Her anger was only fueling itself, becoming larger as she realized that the king would back his daughter in this debate. Clenching her fists as her side, she leaned forward as she added, "I will do everything in my power to keep Yvette from becoming queen."
Seth looked to Aurora, his face growing fierce as he shouted, "Get out! Get out now!" Having caught her eye, he stubbornly refused to look away from her face. Even when a guard came in to check on the noise, he just stared until finally, she had been dragged out of the door and down the hallway, presumingly to her room for now.
"Seth! Damn you Seth! She would have you killed you ignorant excuse for a king! Someday you will see! I just pray that it is before you are buried!"
Obviously, it takes place after the ball. Aurora figures out what Yvette's subtle messages mean and is worried about her country and yeah~ I'm surprised by how much I miss writing with Aurie. I feel like I never got the chance to use her much.

So...I couldn't sleep. Instead, I wrote this~
"Aurora, would you please settle down?"

The funny thing is that Yvette would support her cousin and tell her father that her cousin was more involved with life once she knew about the girl then he was and that he needed to learn to listen to family, because they are looking out for you. (Gathering allies)
