I stopped playing the Sims 2 when all of my sims died in the elevator. crying

I told them to go get in the elevator. It was too many other sims on the stairs. Anyway as the elevator was going up it stopped. I thought my game was freezing since I had the internet on at the same time but then I heard the little death song play and the elevatar dropped to the floor. None of my sims came out. The grim reaper came and took them all away. I felt like it was my fault. I cant even look at the case of the game anymore. I had that family for 16 generations and they all die like that. stare
