Earendil tilted his head slightly. He could have sworn he heard something ...
"This way," he said, turning towards the sound. He cupped one hand around his mouth and shouted, "Lin!"
Iorlas tilted her head upwards and closed her eyes briefly before following after Earendil. Yes, he was right ...
She smiled down at Miyuki. "It seems your mother is found," she said cheerfully.

Lin turned and saw Earendil and Miyuki, relived that she was found. She leaped down from the tree and hurried over to the group.
"There you are!"

Earendil chuckled softly, relieved that Lin was all right as well.
"Here we are," he agreed, ushering Miyuki forward so that Lin could fuss over her. "And you might be amused to learn that Andarien calmed down the moment Miyuki came into sight. It was Iorlas who found her and brought her back."
A light blush spread over Iorlas' cheeks, and she averted her eyes slightly.

"But she didn't find me," Miyuki pointed out to her ada.
She really didn't get what was going on it was as if her Mommy and ada had talked to Iorlas also but that wasn't possible.

"Right," Earendil remembered. "She told us ... you were the one who found her, right Miyuki?"
He smiled at her. To him it made sense: Miyuki had run into Iorlas instead of Iorlas running into Miyuki. Of course, he didn't realize how long the two had been talking together, so the timeline didn't bother him the way it bothered Miyuki.
"Mi," Andarien beamed at his sister. "Mi Mi Mi."

"Right!" Miyuki nodded.
But she couldn't help but think something was really off but she couldn't put her finger on it. It was just how her ada was saying it that made it so strange.
"I'm glad you're alright," Lin then chuckled as she looked over at Andarien who seemed to be quite pleased, "That's right, Miyuki is right here. Now I'm certain he's talking."

Iorlas smiled and folded her hands in front of her, a very timid but friendly stance. "Is he very young?" she asked, genuinely curious.
Earendil thought through everything. Two weeks here from the Southland, two weeks getting to the Southland, and about two weeks in the Southland total ...
"Six weeks?" he guessed. "But he doesn't grow like natural children. He's what's called a stage-growing child, he grows a lot all at once, rather than a little at a time, all the time."
Iorlas stared at him.

"It sounds confusing I know," Lin murmured to Iorlas, "But that's the way these children grow, even Miyuki grows that way. So it's easier for her to tell people who old she is by the number of tails she has."
Miyuki grinned up at Iorlas, "I am five tails old!"
Which didn't much to most people except to Miyuki.

Earendil couldn't help but laugh at the stunned and confused expression on Iorlas's face. He noticed she was trying very hard to check out Andarien while pretending not to, and he grinned and held Andarien up for her to see.
"No tails on him," he grinned.
Iorlas blushed warmly and averted her eyes. She really had been trying not to be obvious about her curiosity ...
"If I may ask without sounding too ... um ... ignorant," she said hesitantly, "Miyuki ... what manner of being are you? I've seen much, but never anyone like you."

"I'm called a kitsune! Kitsunes all have tails and ears but we can have up to nine tails," she explained.
Miyuki though didn't know more than that, it wasn't a subject she had thought to read up on but she knew about the nine tails part because it was a pretty common thing for a regular kitsune.

Iorlas nodded slowly, though her expression showed that she still didn't quite understand it all.
"And ... Lin?" she asked, turning her eyes to Lin. "I am tempted to call you one of the Valar, or one of the Maiar at the least, but I have a feeling that I would be quite mistaken. Yes?"
Earendil chuckled softly, but he let Lin answer for herself. He had a feeling she was probably getting tired of being mistaken for the gods, goddesses and so on of this world.

Lin smiled softly, she understood the confusion so she didn't take it amiss though Earendil was right that it did become tiring after a while.
"Yes, my people... my race are called Angels, we are all winged people, specifically with feathered wings. Both Miyuki and I originally come from Gaia, which, I'm sure you can imagine is much different from here."

"Don't forget Andarien," Earendil interjected. "He came from the musical egg that Miyuki brought me from Gaia."
The corner of Iorlas' mouth turned up in a slight smile. "I can quite imagine that your world must be quite different from ours," she assured Lin softly. "There are no beings like you or Miyuki here, or who grow like Andarien."
They reached the edge of the town once more, and Iorlas hesitated a moment. "You were shopping when I interrupted you," she said, her tone almost apologetic. "Should I leave you alone to continue?"

"Oh no," Lin shook her head, "In truth we were looking around, the only thing we really do need to get is Miyuki a staff."
Miyuki didn't know if she should be disappointed that her Mommy remembered or excited because it would be her staff. She had seen staffs before and some of them were quite neat like the one belonging to her Uncle Yukito or her grandmother.
"You're welcome to come if you like."

"Oh, I don't know about that," Iorlas said quickly, her brow furrowing anxiously. She started wringing her hands together. "I wouldn't want to intrude-"
"Nonsense," Earendil smiled warmly at her. "You won't be intruding at all. We tend to have a habit of ... how shall I put it? Attracting new friends."
Picking up strays, to put it bluntly, and she seemed as 'stray' as they came.
"You're certain?" she asked hesitantly.
