"So, did you train those girls?" Whitney asked, interested. "Indeed I did. And, I was able to discover just why Maorde took them in; they were all exceptional trainers who simply needed to believe in themselves. I must admit, I see Gym Leader potential in every single one of those five girls. And, it wouldn't surprise me very much if one girl, Phoenix, were to become an Elite Four member at some point in her life." Before Whitney could ask, Sabrina said, "Phoenix was the girl that was after us. She's a tremendous force to be reckoned with, even for people of our standing. I just-- I can't even explain to you what she's like. You'd need to be in her presence to understand." Whitney nodded, showing she acknowledged what Sabrina was saying. "If you don't mind my asking, why are you and Phoenix on bad terms?" Sabrina bit her lip.
"Well... Phoenix was getting really strong really fast. A lot stronger than the other girls were, and she knew it. Maorde relished in that fact-- he had a protege that he had truly made his mark upon, one that could potentially reach his level of power. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was both happy and surprised that I was able to train someone to such fantastic results, but at the same time I was rather afraid. I didn't know if I'd be able to live with myself if I was partly responsible for essentially creating the next Maorde, y'know? I just-- I couldn't imagine." She paused for a moment, as if the thought of another Maorde in the world was processing in her mind. "So, one day, I told her that I wouldn't train her anymore. Long story short, Phoenix got extremely pissed off at me, and things went downhill from there. Eventually, it reached the point of violence; she'd even attempted to attack me with her Pokemon on a few occasions. I mean, I was able to subdue her every time, but the principle of the matter bothered me, too. She was so very different than when I had first met her. Had I really helped to create this person, to mold her as she stands today?"

Robin watched Jaeshan walk away to go help the angry, if hurt now, redhead from before. For some reason she was feeling pretty dull right now. As if her yelling had taken most of the energy right out from her. Looking down at Luffy she couldn't help but smile slightly at the faithful Aipom. Rowan had said something about a surprise for them soon but Robin had no idea what it was, and right now she didn't really care. Looking up she saw everyone was shouting and the battles were still going on. The man in the helicopter was yelling something but Robin had no interest in hearing what he had to say anymore.
In fact she felt quite done with this whole party. 'I don't have to be here anymore. I can just go home.' She thought to herself. 'Go home." She smiled a bit at the idea and nodded to herself. That was exactly what she would be doing, there was a train station in the city nearby and so she would just go up that route. Wrapping her hand in Luffy's hand-tail she and Luffy walked through the crowds stepping through battles and in front of people. Right now Robin didn't care if she didn't tell anyone where she was going. She was done here, probably for a long time anyway and so she was going to leave. After all she had better things to do then to listen to some crazy megalomaniac rant on and on about things that didn't matter unless you made them matter.
Most of the town was pretty empty and Robin and Luffy got lost a few times. They still didn't know where exactly they were going but Robin didn't care to much and Luffy was having fun. When they did reach the city limits Robin glanced down at Luffy and smiled slightly before they stepped out onto the road.
~~~~~~~~
Ampersand meanwhile had picked the perfect time to execute the reason why he was really here. Walking through the crowds until he was behind the stage and standing across from Professor Rowan. He had a small smile on his face as he stared at the man, there was another trainer nearby but he didn't really care. "Hello Professor." Rowan looked at the man with a somewhat sad look on his face. "Ampersand." "Good to see you still remember me. You probably figured out why I am here haven't you?" He asked, there was no malice in his voice but it was a tone that said he was on business right now.
"I suppose I do." Rowan sighed as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small slip of paper. Taking a step forward he handed it over to Ampersand who just smiled at him and slipped it into his pocket. "Thanks." Was all he said before he tipped his hat at the older man and walked away. He got what he came for no need to annoy the man further.
"You do need to understand that you weren't solely responsible," Whitney replied. "Maorde influenced that girl as well, and if she was feeding off of his influence, that just shows that her desire to become power-hungry is her way of compensating for something else that she's less than satisfied with. Maybe she feels that she needs to impress someone, like Maorde himself; who knows. But, the one thing I do know is that you can't be beating yourself up over this. Just remember that it's Phoenix's own weaknesses that're making her how she is. Okay?" Sabrina smiled, feeling very comforted by her friend's words. "Thank you, Whitney. That really does mean a lot to me."A smile. "It's no problem. So, what happened next? What happened after you and Phoenix started having problems?"
"Well, it wasn't too long after things became violent that Phoenix began spreading lies about me to Maorde. The thing that really sucked about that was I was Maorde's main confidante, because of the fact that I was helping him out as much as I was. It was during one conversation that he confided in me that he was not the real Maorde; he explained to me that he had done an extensive amount of research on the real Maorde Menskr. He found out just how much power he had and the things he did in his extensive lifetime... While the Maorde we know today is psychopathic and powerful, he's not even close to the original. That man would attack people without warning and mass-murder towns; at least before our Maorde attacks, he goes into some long-winded, drawn-out speech or something. But, ever since Phoenix started spreading lies about me to him, he didn't trust me anymore. Our conversations began dissipating and eventually he barely spoke to me; he only barked orders at me when it was convenient for him. While I still wanted to gather information about him, I already hit pay dirt, so I wasn't too upset when he dismissed me from my instructing position, and from his little group."
Ariados scurried over to Crenu's side and lightly nudged his leg with her head. "Nice work Ariados." She appeared to be very happy with his praise, but Crenu called her back to her pokeball before she could start nudging him again. He hadn't used her in battle for a while, so he was pleaser to see that she hadn't gotten rusty. "It's be a real hassel to find all the trainers that these belong to and listen to their thanks." He said as he noticed Riza favoring her right ankle. "But I don't know where the police are stationed in this city...here, lean on me." He said as he put Riza's arm over his shoulder to take the weight off of her anke without waiting for her response. Crenu was rather blunt and direct, taking the more rational course of action without really thinking about how others might react. "And you thought I was gonna get hurt." He said with a little smirk, still unsure about what they should actually do with the pokeballs. He really didn't feel like wandering a city looking for the law, so he figured that if they went to where the trainers were they'd eventually come to the peopel handing out pokeballs. "You did well in that battle, you're Sneasel's got a good Ice Punch."
"If you already knew that Maorde was an impostor, why didn't you just turn him into a doll right then and there when he was dismissing you from the group?" Whitney asked. "I mean, you'd have saved yourself an awful lot of trouble." Sabrina shook her head. "No, I couldn't do that. While, yes, I was emitting psychic waves at that time so everyone thought that I looked like my Vanessa caricature, those girls would all know something was up. There's only ever been one trainer in the world that can turn people into dolls, and that's Sabrina Williams of Saffron City. I'm the only one. They'd know that something was a little bit fruity, and I wouldn't be safe. Besides which, I like four of those five girls. I didn't want to have to turn them into dolls, too." "Do you know what happened to those girls?" "I imagine that they're all still with Maorde. They had all come a long way, that's for sure, but with the exception of Phoenix, they still could stand to learn more. So if anything, it's extremely likely that Maorde is still training with them."
Whitney's attention piqued when Sabrina mentioned Phoenix again. "I almost forgot to ask you, "she said. "Do you know why Phoenix is after you?" Sabrina shrugged. "I don't, no. It's obvious to me that it's more than just her wanting revenge on me for refusing to help her out-- which, if you ask me, is extremely childish. No, she's been after me almost since after I was dismissed from the group, and I have no idea why. I don't intend to stay around her long enough to find out, though. I anticipate she's trying to attack me again. But, who knows." She shrugged again. Whitney seemed to hesitate for a moment.
"Sabrina, I don't know how to ask you this, so if it's alright, I'm just going to be totally straightforward. That okay?" The elder girl nodded. "Okay. Um. Is that the entirety of your story? You're not neglecting to tell me anything else? You're not leaving anything out?" Sabrina smiled. "That's pretty much the whole story, yeah. I promise." Whitney seemed pleased with that answer. "Cool beans. And, another thing. If you don't mind my asking, why would Maorde have you help train the girls if you didn't even have a Pokemon with you when he met you? I mean, you told me that the Espeon you have, one of the girls gave that to you when it was just an Eevee in an egg."
"Well, Maorde was extremely leery of using me as help since I didn't have a Pokemon with me. However, I was extremely persuasive and he eventually caved in. When he saw how much I was able to help the girls advance, he knew he had the real thing. It's true that one of the girls, Carrie, did give me that egg; it was her way of thanking me for helping her out. When my Eevee hatched, I was able to get a lot more hands-on." Smile. "Anything else?"
"Yeah, one more thing. Where do we go from here?"
Well, at least the day won't be a total bust, Mai thought, running her fingers over Sirrus' scaly skin. The Flygon was one of her toughest Pokemon, even though he was probably the least fond of battling out of her entire party, even more so than Serenity. The Flygon's gentle attitude and calm demeanor always made Mai feel better, and she was feeling better, though the berating of the redhead definitely had something to do with it. Sirrus let out a soft cooing noise as they reached their destination, and he descended down, landing on the ground next to where Giovanni's helicopter stood. Mai jumped down from the dragon's back, her hand resting on his shoulder as she glared at the ragtag group of children before her, her icy gaze lingering on her sister. That bit of information would be a bombshell in itself, as she was certain Kasiya hadn't gone around bragging about the fact that they had the same father.
=-=-=-=-= "Well, if you're sure," Jaeshan said, though he wasn't entirely convinced that Keegan was 'fine.' The redhead was bloody and battered and he could barely stand, and in Jaeshan's mind, that was the opposite of being fine. He's more stubborn than I thought, Jaeshan frowned, but he sighed, scratching his head as he watched Keegan get to his feet with the help of his Golem, and started heading in the direction Giovanni's voice was coming from. "You're going to go directly to the source of all this danger? You do know that the guy in the orange suit is Giovanni, right? Giovanni. Leader of Team Rocket? Ring a bell?"
"Com bu-skeen," came a small voice from behind him, and Jaeshan turned to see Combusken holding up the briefcase, everything packed away inside and closed up tightly. Jaeshan thanked her and gave her a pat before he took it and recalled her, not wanting his own rising-star to get caught up in any trouble. The blonde boy frowned, but after a moment followed after Keegan, not sure if there was even anything he could do to help. He wasn't exactly the hero-type, not at all, and he knew there was no way he could change Keegan's mind.
"Do you really want my opinion?" Sabrina asked, getting to her feet and recalling her group of Pokemon. "I think that we should pick Nina up from the Elite Four. I realize that she's not exactly in the best state of mind at this moment in time, but her being with us, being with family, has got to be better for her than being around a perfect group of strangers. I mean, she knows of Lance through me, but that's really all. And the poor girl is probably losing her mind, being all alone in whatever room she's staying in... So, is that okay with you?" Whitney grinned widely. "Sabrina, I thought that you'd never bring that up. I mean, I know that I didn't exactly get Anna back for Nina like I had promised her, but if she finds out that you're alive and well... My gosh, that can only do wonders for her. You know, it's largely because she's thought you were dead this whole time that she started to, uhm-- what's the best way that I can possibly put this without sounding like a terrible person?-- go completely batshit crazy. So, seeing you could be the best thing for her... But then again, if she saw you alive, she'd probably have a heart attack or something. We can try though, right?" Sabrina raised an eyebrow as Whitney spoke. "Um, yes. Let's try. If you want to get Rio ready to go, I'll get on the phone and speak with Lance. I'll give him a summarized version of events so that he can get Nina ready for us."
And so, they did. The girls hopped on Rio, and Sabrina took out her cell phone, giving Lance a ring. Whitney couldn't make out the exact words that he was saying, but it was extremely obvious that the Trainer was both shocked and surprised to hear that Sabrina was alive. It amused Whitney, who stifled her laughter a few times. After a good twenty or thirty minutes, Sabrina was off the phone. "Well, it shocked the hell out of Lance when he heard my voice," she said with a giggle. "He was all, 'What the hell! Who is this? This isn't funny!' You probably heard me, I spent probably five minutes trying to convince him that I was really me and not to hang up. When he finally caved, I explained absolutely everything to him that I told you, and I told him we'd like to pick up Nina. He was hesitant at first, but gave in eventually." She giggled excitedly. "I just can't wait to see the look on Nina's face when we walk in!" Whitney snorted. "It'll probably look something like this." She proceeded to make what she would later refer to as THE FACE, an unexplainable combination of shock, confusion, and neediness. Sabrina couldn't help but to laugh.
Riza was a bit surprised by Crenu's actions, though she was grateful for the help. She smirked at the comment and lightly punched him on the shoulder. "Oh shut up," Riza chuckled, looking at the bag of pokeballs that were now in her possession. She did agree with not wanting to go out and find each individual trainer, as not only would it be time consuming, but it would be boring as well. She wanted the trainers to get their Pokemon back, but she didn't feel the need to be thanked for it. When Crenu commented on Sneasel's ice punch, the Pokemon pretended to flex her muscles, jabbing the air like a boxer warming up before a match. "And so modest too," Riza sighed, but couldn't help but smile. She was very happy to have the dark and ice-type as a friend and partner, and by the looks of it, Sneasel was starting to feel the same way about her.
"There's a bunch of people over there, maybe they'll know what to do with these," she suggested, pointing to where the man in the ugly orange suit was standing. They weren't that far away from them, though Riza's eyes widened when she saw the tall woman and black fly in on the back of a green dragon, and she frowned, wanting to take back her previous statement. "Or maybe not. Those must be the bad guys," she shrugged, figuring that going over to see the others with the Rocket Boss and his pretty lady partner standing right there it would be like saying "oh here are all the pokemon your goons almost stole, good thing we got them back for you." Riza sighed, glancing around. "And just where are the police anyway? You think they'd be all over the place." * * * * * "Wow, that looked like a thunderpunch," Katie marveled, watching her little Chimchar dance around the buizel, static crackling all over its body. "I don't know how you learned that, Genki, but I want you to do that again!" Katie cheered. The Chimchar nodded, grinning impishly at the Buizel before he ran forward and clocked the weasel right between the eyes with another electrified punch. The buizel whimpered slightly as it fell over backwards, its two tails twitching. "All right, now we're rockin'!" Genki returned to his position in front of his trainer, ready for whatever the older brother would send out next.
"Dammit, we didn't plan for this," the brother sighed, looking at Genki and shaking his head. "Well, I said two pokemon, can't go back on it now." Katie wasn't sure what he meant about that right away, but when he sent out his last Pokemon she understood. It was a medium-sized red bug with blade-like arms, and distinctive antenna on its head.
"Oh, Kricketune," Katie sighed, reaching for her pokedex. Now the advantage would be in Genki's favour, and though she knew it wasn't a sure-win, she couldn't help but feel elated. "I'm not going to go easy on him, especially after the way he tried get his buizel to soak Genki like that," she murmured, pointing at the cricket Pokemon. She'd seen them in books before, but never up close like this. "You know what to do, Genki! Ember attack!"
Crenu looked at the group Riza pointed out, noting the Rocket leader and what must have been an Admin that had ridden in on an impressive looking dragon. Taking the pokeballs to them was the opposite of what they wanted to do, though Riza appeared to have come to this conclusion as well. nstead he decided that hanging back where they were for the moment was best while they decided the best way to continue. "It's save your own skin day in Hoenn?" He added apathetically, though Riza had made a good point. An event like this with a prestigious professor was sure to grab the attention of someone. If not team rocket then at least a couple of more common unsavory characters were sure to show up, why was the law enforcement nowhere in sight? The only acceptable explanation was that Team Rocket was behind the lack of officers as well, maybe by effectively keeping the word from spreading from the immediate area, but that was kind of a stretch. "Whatever, it's more fun to take the law into your own hands anyway."
When the doors to the pokemon center didn't open Aidan couldn't help the confused look that appeared on his face. He had lived in a pokemon center for such a long time and he had never heard of one closing... He stared at the door and the Chansey inside that also looked a bit confused... Maybe they were closed because of the Sinnoh region opening up soon? Aidan really didn't have a clue. Still he would rather sleep outside then take advantige of someone... When Alice suddenly grabbed him and started to shake his arm begging him to not sleep outside. He sighed slightly and ran his free hand through his hair. " If I agree to not sleep outside will you let go of my arm?" He asked, it was starting to hurt now.
Looking over at Jun, Aidan just felt bad for accepting this offer. "If you could get a room it would be best. I guess." He could all ready feel the guilt from this. He shifted a bit uncomfortable with this. It was going to be a bad night he could tell...
Robin and Luffy walked down Route 110 heading towards Mauvile City. Really Robin had no idea where she would end up, she had no destination set and so she was just going in whatever direction she felt like going. At her side Luffy scampered around getting into all sorts of mischief, though for once Robin didn't mind and let him do whatever he wanted. The walk so far was pleasant, not a lot of people were on the trail since they had been at the beach party. Of course the party was no in chaos but that didn't really seem to matter to much here. So Robin and Luffy walked down the path underneath the bike path, the lights from above guiding there way. It was dark out now and so there were even less people on the road then had been expected. With no one but pokemon for Luffy to bug, which he did, and it being a pretty short route in the first place Robin made it halfway through the route in no time.
Of course her luck didn't last that long normally and finally Luffy had annoyed a poor Zigzagoon so much that it started chasing him. Luffy found the activity funny and so he was laughing as he ran around before scrambling up Robin to rest on her shoulder. The normal type pokemon growled at Robin bearing sharp looking teeth while its striped fur stood up on end. "Luffy you can't go bugging other pokemon." Robin scolded as she reached into her bag to pull out a pokeball. Well, ok it was sometimes a good thing for him to run about like that, she did need to start training pokemon other then Luffy. This little Zigzagoon would be a perfect combatant against her still pretty shy about battling Brook.
With a small flash the Hoppip appeared on the battlefield. The pink pokemon yawned slightly, apparently he had been sleeping. Before turning around to greet his trainer not even noticing that he was supposed to be in a battle. She wasn't in her bathing suit anymore! He couldn't see her panties either when she wore pants! Oh this wasn't very fun why did she call him out if she wasn't going to show him her bathing suit? He suddenly found out why when a furry mass slammed into his back! Ouch! That hurt a lot! Turning around Brook stared at the pokemon that had attacked him, that was very ungentlemanly and they would pay for that!
Robin didn't like seeing her pokemon get hurt but this time it seemed to do some good. For whatever reason instead of turning around and running at the attack Brook looked like he was going to fight instead. "All right Brook! How about you use your Stun Spore on that Zigzagoon!" Robin ordered with a smile on her face. It felt good to be battling, and she planned to enjoy this small one as much as she could.
Brook liked the sound of that, this poor pokemon wouldn't know what had hit it! Not that the Stun Spore would do any damage but it would still annoy it. Jumping forward his leaf antenna waving furiously in the air letting out clouds of a yellow powder which would hopefully hit the Zigzagoon.
Napalm muttered a weak 'thanks' as he was carried back to Mike on Cable's back. He didn't care who did more damage, he was just happy to get back to his trainer. Thank goodness for him and the Pupitar. If it weren't for them, he'd probably be in some strange laboratory somewhere. The two separated once they got back to their trainers; the journey back being much easier thanks to the lack of battles. Any Rockets that were there beforehand were either cleared out or were focusing on the large and scary man on stage.
Oh god, he wasn't being paranoid, Giovanni really did know his secrets! "W-what are you talking about?" Mike asked, laughing nervously, looking around defensively at all his friends. "Haha, I-I don't know what he's talking about!" he said to Kasiya, unaware that he was grabbing her by the shirt collar rather tightly. "He's lying! Just like Maxie did!" Oh s**t, that was a bad thing to slip out. He backed away from her, holding his mouth shut, his eyes focusing back on Giovanni. His chest shook so hard that it hurt to breath. He-he's going to tell everyone. Mike thought, his eyes wide with utter terror. Everything he worked so hard for was going to crash and burn right in front of him. "No!" he screamed. "I won't allow you to say any more! I worked too hard to have someone like you to ruin my life!" His hands slowly made their ways to his side, his fingers wiggling like spiders caught on their backs. His eyes darted around to everyone around him. Kilik, Kasiya, Sasha, Kirsa, Kasiya, Mitsu, Keegan, Flannery...FLANNERY! No! She'd find out too! "Oh s**t. s**t. s**t! s**t!" Mike frantically recalled Portabello and Napalm, who were looking at their trainer, concerned. No, he was not going to let this happen. He'd been through too much to let it all end now...
Mike looked slowly, a crazed look in his eyes. "Giovanni..." he said softly. "I won't le-let you do this to m-me..."I'll kill you. "I'll..." I'll kill you. "...I-I'll..." Kill him. Kill him. Kill him. Kill him. Kill him. Kill him. Kill him. " I'LL KILL YOU!" shrieked the boy, igniting his gloves and charging towards the Rocket boss, murder in his eyes. "NO ONE CAN TAKE THIS AWAY FROM ME! NOT EVEN YOU!" Mike lunged forward, rearing back a flaming fist, aiming straight for his heart.
Sasha stopped dead in her tracks as Mike ran off to attack Giovanni. "Mike! NO!" she screamed.
Riza was still looking around, quite lost on what to do with the pokeballs, but she smiled at Crenu's next comment. "How 'Dark Knight-ish' of you." Not only did he seem to somehow keep a bit of a smile on her face, but Riza also found that she rather liked just being around him, even if they weren't talking or anything like that. He wasn't one of those happy-go-lucky cheery sunshine cult-wannabe people that made you want to hit them with a shovel every time they spoke, but at the same time he wasn't so closed off to the world that he made hermits and emo kids look bad.
Riza looked down when she felt a gentle tugging on the hem of her skirt, seeing that Sneasel was trying to tell her something, as was Ralts. Both Pokemon were pointing towards the red roofed building that was the pokecenter. "Oh, I see. Good idea, you two," she said, looking to Crenu. "Sneasel and Ralts seem to think it would be a good idea for us to take the pokeballs to the pokecenter. I guess it would make sense seeing as the nurse there could probably find a way to identify them and make sure they go to their proper trainers." Riza glanced towards the area with the chopper again, and shivered a bit. Something told her that she wanted to get far away from here, and she really wanted to listen to that little voice. * * * * * The little Chimchar ran forward a bit, the flames leaping up and out of his mouth making for a small burst of fire. It scored a direct hit and the Kricketune screeched, swiping the air with its knife-like arms. Even from where she stood Katie could tell that the attack had done a lot of damage, and though she felt bad for the cricket, she didn't feel bad for the trainer. The boy seemed to really loose his confidence now, as his command could barely be heard by even his Pokemon. "Use fury cutter..." The cricket didn't seem to want to get anywhere near this little fireball, but it wouldn't let its trainer down. The Kricketune cried out sharply as it attacked with a downwards slash, scoring a good hit on the Chimchar despite the type match up.
"Don't worry about it Genki, you've got this one in the bag!" Katie cheered loudly, pointing at the cricket again. "Blast him with another ember!" The chimp was quick to comply, his flame flaring up brightly before he released another burst of flames at the cricket. It seemed to know this was coming though and deftly jumped high in the air, landing behind Genki after doing a graceful flip in mid air and avoiding taking another massive hit from the Chimchar.
"Fury cutter again," the brother commanded, smirking a bit at his Pokemon's agility. Okay so he knew chances were good that he wasn't going to win it, but at least they weren't going to make it easy for the loudmouthed girl and her monkey. With the element of surprise still in its favor the Kricketune lashed out with its sharp-edged arms again, this time with a horizontal strike.
"Ohhh son of a..." Eraku said scrambling to his feet. He'd heard of Scyther and how those arms could cut through trees.
"SCYYYYYYYY!" The scyther cried looking extremely annoyed that its trip to get water had ended with some large being falling on top of him.
"Uhh hey buddy sorry about that. See I was sleeping up there and uhhhh you like food?" Eraku stammered putting his hand out with some of the bait he'd been given. The scyther took a swipe at it nearly taking his hand off. "Ahhh well guess not." Eraku got up and began to take a few steps back when the scyther charged him. Then he ran and oh boy how he ran. Only looking back to see if the scyther was catching up to him. Of course the pokemon far out paced the boy, getting in front of him and cutting him off. Eraku skidded to a halt looked around and noticed a couple of rocks lying around on the ground. "Hmm maybe I can scare it off or something." he thought as he picked up a orange sized stone and hurled it at the scyther.
Scyther who was taken by surprise barely avoided the stone and began to move in on the boy when another stone connected with his abdomen and caused him to reel back for a second. "Hmm maybe I can try to catch it." Eraku thought reaching for his side for a poke ball then realizing that all of his stuff was still up the tree where he had been sleeping. "Oh crap." He muttered. He was at least a two hundred yards from the tree and scyther was directly in front of him. He bolted to the side of the scyther and began to cut through the trees and brush hoping it would at least slow the scyther down. But to hs dismay he say it was barely affecting the scyther as it mowed it was through the brush. Eraku cut to the left and dove over a large hedge and made a break for the tree which was only about fifty feet away now. From behind he could hear the hedge explode as the scyther plowed right through it in one swing.
Kilik looked up, watching his friend run at the helicopter. Everything seemed to go in slow motion. He stood up, tears streaming down his cheek. "MIKE, DON'T!" he roared, but he knew that his friend wasn't there. His friend wasn't listening. His friend was gone.
Giovanni laughed. "Maybe I don't need to reveal it, if you're just going to let little things like that slip! Of course," he smirked, "Maxie told me everything!" His eyes flashed as he watched Mike jump at him. Idiot, he thought, sidestepping Mike's fist. As the boy stumbled, Giovanni swung his fist around and grabbed hold of the boy's hair, spinning him to look at his face. "That was your fatal mistake..." The Rocket Leader lifted Mike up into the air by his brown locks then dropped him, going at his collar. Giovanni turned and slammed the boy against the rail. "You're..." he slammed him again, "not..." and again, "a HERO!" and again for good measure. The Leader tossed Mike back down to the ground like a rag doll.
"He was never cut out to be a hero, or a savior!" Giovanni boomed, holding his arms out, "Don't you know what he did? I'm certain that those of you native to this region..." he looked at Mitsu, Kilik, Keegan, and the rest, "do remember what happened two years ago? The raging storms, the erupting volcanoes..." He laughed up into the sky, "The utter destruction of Lilycove?! The deaths of hundreds! Their blood, it's all on his hands!" Giovanni pointed at the crumpled heap that was Mike, "Thinking he could impress the one he loved the most...he talked with Maxie of Team Magma! A close ally of mine, to be sure."
Kilik looked at Giovanni in disbelief. There was no way that was all Mike's fault. His hands shook as he recalled his Scizor. Then he looked down at Mike. You didn't do it, did you? he thought, gulping, But even Giovanni wouldn't go through the trouble of making up a bogus story based on history. You didn't do it, Mike!
"It was Mike who woke up Groudon!" he continued, "I'm sure that he goes to sleep every night, hearing the screams of the hundreds he inadvertently slaughtered! And why?" he smirked, "Because he wanted to be a hero! He wanted to be as strong as he could be!" Giovanni placed a hand on his face, shaking his head. His hands went back to the railing as he glared down at the children. "Tell us, Mike! TELL US THAT'S WHAT YOU WANTED!" The cold look in Giovanni's eyes became heated, "And now, you think being a hero can cover up what you did? You think that stopping me, that saving girls, that coming to the rescue whenever the opportunity arises that it can wash the blood off of your hands?" He shook his head.
"No, Mike. That's not the world we live in. You did this. You alone killed all those people. You alone destroyed Lilycove. You alone almost destroyed Hoenn itself. Now live with it." He spat on the boy.
