Ms Rose Wilson Worth Linda Lee Danvers The FCC relaxing the laws about kids entertainment being half-hour long commercials for toys (which killed the original Hot Wheels cartoon in the early 80's) is probably the biggest culprit. Considering some of the 'education cartoons' they now have for children it really doesn't surprise me. the commercials take away from the fact it is just horrid.
They are now having Dora become like the Bratz doll on TV. moving her up a few grades and sexing her up. Though I do realize this is off topic, it's a scary thought.I don't mind the idea of Dora getting older. I think it would be helpful for Doras of different ages to exist for kids, since there's really sort of a dearth of in-betweens for people. You get the characters very young, or much older. 6 or 16, take your pick. The sexing up bit though, that's just stupid. I nearly had an argument with a girl I know because she refused to believe Bratz were slutty, insisting that Barbie is "WAY MORE SLUTTY!" Barbie never dunked her head in a bag of miscellaneous Tammy Fay make up. The only thing Bratz has that I consider a positive is a largely diverse pool of characters. Too bad they all look like little hookers.

Ms. Selina Kyle That's really more a product of writing than of animation quality, though I do think Ice Age isn't near the list of the best technically produced movie I've seen. There were a few good shows that came out of advertising toys. Mighty Max, My Little Ponies, even Jem was done to sell the dolls and that cartoon is still fun. I don't enjoy it as much as when I was 8, but I can watch it and certainly see why I did. Whereas a lot of these current shows, I don't understand what kids are supposed to get out of them. The problem is that the whole tone of the shows has changed. Whereas the GI Joes had those rediculous tacked in messages at the ends of the original cartoons (Be nice to people, kids!), now the entire show will revolve around this message. I saw a revamped Carebears show today and it would not shut up about the message. There's no subtlty to the idea anymore, and think a lot of it comes from underestimating kids. Before, you had to sell the message to the kids and not do it too overtly or they'd think the show was stupid. Now it seems they think kids are so stupid that if you don't say the message every five minutes, the kids will forget and go play in traffic. Perhaps if the premis of the shows weren't just, "watch as Bob and Lisa find out about the awesome power of friendships!" Sailor Moon was all about the friendship too, but at least they fought monsters at the same time. Ok...now don't go ragging on my old school GI Joe and "Knowing is half the battle." If I remember correctly, Jem had the same thing with the tagline "And that makes you a superstar" or something. xp

Yes they did. But they weren't slammed into you into the dialogue every twenty seconds. I'd much rather a message stapled at the end before the credits than the unwatchable plot of, "Stacy wants to go to a party but isn't invited, except that she is, see how she should have trusted her friends?" And Lady Lovely Locks beats them all. She had a live-action message at the beginning and ends of her cartoons done by a woman so heavily made up her face might as well been frosted on with a spatula.

I know. I mean that a message at the end of a cartoon makes a lot more sense and makes for a much more watchable show than the current stuff, where the idea is that GI Joe should just all talk about friendship for half an hour after there's a terrible mix up over Roadblock's birthday.

As an aside, do you remember the episode where Cobra took over an elementary school?

Ah yes...Cobra Commander recited Snakespeare to the young kiddies...and turned Hamlet's soliloquy into a thing about GI Joe fighting Cobra. xd

The thing is that is from the second cartoon series. The original GI Joe series from 1982 and into 1985 was much better.

That's usually how it goes. First MLP series? Way better than the subsequent My Little Pony Tales. Evil Magic Cat Kidnaps Ponies will always beat Pony Wants to Become a Model!

Either my house is haunted or it's invested with gremlins. Something! Stuff always disappears. My wife's DS vanished. I turned the whole damn house over. Nothing. The thing is pink, so it's not like it would be hard to find. I figured she took it to work, forgot about it and it got snatched. That was six months ago.
Yesterday I'm looking for the stupid remote to my stupid converter box because it's missing the the stupid thing only stupidly functions with the stupid remote. Did I mention digital television sucks? Anyways, the ******** pink DS shows up under the couch. I had lifted that couch at least five times since then cleaning and it wasn't there.
Goblins live in my house and they nest under my wife's a**.
