“One of these days you are going to choke on your toast.” Erin remarked as she watched Schnerkel stuff the entire piece of bread into her mouth at once. “You should at least have some milk with that. And somehow I do not think the students would quite agree with your taste in food.”
Sticking her tongue out at her friend, Erin hesitated for a second before resuming her spreading. A strapping young chap came to assist her with her buttering chore and Erin starting whistling merrily, spreading the butter in long, even strokes across the bread. She really did not understand why some people detested being a House Elf. Spending time in the kitchens, away from the hustle and bustle of Hogwarts and especially the books and homework seemed like a sweet arrangement to her. Erin’s song was interrupted by the boy’s question and she turned to him, looking at him as she replied.
“Oh I would go anywhere except for Slytherin, really. Living in the stuffy old dungeons is simply not my style. It is a breeding ground for halitosis, if you ask me…. Bad enough that we are going to have to take Potions down there!”

Daz stifled a chuckle. He procured the necklace with the crest. It was a Slytherin family necklace. He did not expect her to know better. Just to notice the crest. He smiled wordlessly and went back to the task at hand. Remaining silent and diligent.
((For the record, Daz is 18...He is much more advanced than the average first year. His parents wanted him to go in late so he could thrive..They have taught him a good deal...Sadly, the stuff they taught was mostly malicious, some practical things here and there. Mostly hexes.))

Smiling as she heard the chap chuckle, Erin watched as he displayed a necklace with a very familiar crest.
"Oh, what a pretty necklace!" Erin exclaimed, her eyes traveling up to the boy's face. "Does it belong to your sister?"
You can call me 'Von.' I think I'd like to be in Gryffindor, if I'm brave enough, but I do come from a long line of Ravenclaws.
"Both of those are fine houses." Erin nodded, reaching for a clean knife to dip into the jam. She suddenly realized that with all the chatting and jewelry watching, she had been falling behind on her chores and she fell completely silent as she started spreading the different types of jam onto the breakfast toast.

"No silly," she started to Erin, "Salazar gave it to him. Before he died, Salazar was a very big jewlery maker - that's why so many people have his necklaces, rings, and bracelets." After she finished her made up story, Schnerkel looked at her friend for a moment, "I'm a little surprised you didn't know that."
After a moment of shaking her head at her unenlightened friend, Schnerkel remembered what Von said earlier. "You want to be in Gryffindor?!" she squeaked as the realization hit her, "That's so brilliant! We can stay up late wearing bed sheets and eating Fizzing Whizbee's so that we can pretend to be ghosts!" That was naturally her first thought of having a roommate, then she brought up Erin, "And Erin's going to be in our house too - even if I have to pull all of her hair out to get her to join."
As she talked she noticed Erin working hard on the toast, but Schnerkel did not feel like finishing that up quite yet - she would much rather talk.

DaBonster Pokemon416 -Pokes walks behind DaBonster- Really? I'm ready to be sorted, too! I can't wait. What house do you want to be in? I just don't want to be in Hufflepuff.... You can call me 'Von.' I think I'd like to be in Gryffindor, if I'm brave enough, but I do come from a long line of Ravenclaws. *Helps with the cooking, but I'm afraid I missed the breakfast rush. I'll start making some sandwiches for lunch* ((OOC: the only real problem with Hufflepuff, as far as I see it, is posting in orange. I don't get my glasses for a few days, and I have trouble reading the orange posts right now. Hmm... Does everyone with glasses automatically get sorted into Ravenclaw?j/k)) I hope the masters and mistresses are well rested from their weekend and ready to do their term finals!

Dazereth could barely contain the growing animosity at Schnerkel's statement. "Funny. This was Salazar's personal necklace, It has been passed down for some time." The young wizard was almost quaking with rage. How dare she mock him, the noble slytherin heir. He sat his jaw and went about his work.

It also had the desired effect on the Slytherin hopeful. He seemed to be losing his temper and, not wanting to upset him any more (just yet...), Erin was about to turn back to her chores, when a girl walked into the kitchens.
"Good morning, Miss Ari." Erin greeted, bowing in a polite curtsy. "I am very pleased to meet you too. Is there anything I can do for you on this fine morning?"

Anneko giggled a little to herself and hoped tensions wouldn't rise too high-- the last thing she would ever want to do would be to choose sides in something! Everyone seems nice, after all...
*Anneko proceeds to make ommelets, filling them with different sorts of ingredients so people with different tastes can find something to enjoy*

Schnerkel noticed Daz stiffen at her words, and even paid brief attention to what he said about Salazar's personal necklace, but found herself far to bored with the conversation to let it continue. As it was she heard another lass talking about possibly being sorted into Gryffindor and couldn't help but feel a bit more excitement over the issue. That would make - if all things go well - her, Von, Erin, and even that other elf (that she hadn't caught the name of) all in the same dorm!
Still smiling at the thought of such a welcoming dorm room, Schnerkel went back to making food for the students. "...Could I get a sandwich, if it's not too much trouble?" Schnerkel knew the words weren't directed at her, but she chimed in all the same. "I think you should try some of these peanut butter and marshmellow sandwiches ma'am," she started to the mistress once she had swallowed a bite of one, "They're mighty fine if I can say so myself!"

Dazereth loved manual labor, however they weren't even half way done!
He closed his eyes, remembering some of the more complex spells his mother had bothered to teach. With a flick of his wrist his wand was in hand.
"Levriti Laborous" He whispered the words hoping none would hear.
Instantly the toast lined itself up in what was to be observed as some crazy assembly line. The knives dipped into the proper containers and wiped the according condiments on the bread as it slid off the table onto the readily waiting trays. Daz understood he wasn't really supposed to do this. However, he would like to make friends. Knee deep in Jam and Butter wasn't exactly leading him there. He figured it would relieve the work load for him as well as his new found school mates.

Ari heard Shnerkel's suggestion, and helped herself to a peanut butter and marshmellow sandwich. "Wow, these are really good!" she said, chewing more. Her mouth stuck together, and she walked out of the kitchen's saying, "Fank you ery much!"

Sure, I don't think which house we're sorted in necessarily determines who our friends are. If anyone's willing to put up with my general silliness they're welcome to be my friend! ((OOC: I got the glasses in early! Seeing much better now. And yes, I look spexy! (sexy+spectacles. Anneko came up with it heart ) )) *Notices Daz using magic on the food* That's a neat trick, but you know, elves have magic of their own. We don't need wands or spells. Try it out! *Uses elf magic to prepare dinner, sending trays of food levitating around the room, decorating four cakes, one in the colour scheme of each house*
