I played clarinet for seven years from junior high through high school, but alas, in college it is not so fun any more and I'm no longer in a band.

looking_for_a_reason *sinks into a chair and begins warming up* ah to be with the clarinet section once more. I only wish I had the time *sigh* I'm not sure which I miss the most marching or class.....wait a minute that's a duh THE MARCHING BAND!!!! So how long have you other clarinetists been playing? This is my sixth year. I'm section leader and first chair and am proud of myself for not getting second chair like last year :3

Hallo, mates.
I have played the clarinet ever since 6th grade. I, now, am a junior at Beechwood High School. If you follow BOA at all you will know that my little band did, in fact, win our class (class A) and played our final performance of Concerto for the 21st Century which was written by Brian Morgan (who also wrote our last show, Steam). That was my last year of marching the clarinet. But if you watch the videos of my band from then... I have lost weight. ^.^

I simply adore the clarinet.
It's amazing in every way possible. :3
I've been playing since I was in 3rd grade.
Now I'm in 8th. <3

how hard is it to play the clarinet?? the reason i ask is because currently i play the tenor saxophone (which sometimes plays clarinet music/parts) and am thinking about switching to the clarinet but im not sure because i dont know if its harder to play the clarinet..

'Ello, clarinets! :]
I'm in a bit of a predicament.
I have to pick a solo by Friday of this week, and I have no clue what I want to play!
Last year I played Rhapsody by Willson Osborne, which was pretty challenging, but I liked it.
This year I'm looking for something a bit harder, and still unaccompanied.
(I'm too cheap to get a piano player. xD)
Any suggestions? Everything I've heard so far is either too hard or I don't like it.

I play the tenor sax too! =D -hi fives-
The clarinet was my first instrument, but when I started playing tenor sax, the hardest thing for me was fixing my embouchure to suit the instrument. The fingers are similar in most cases, so I would say just mastering the clarinet technique/embouchure would be your main challenges. It shouldn't be too difficult. :]

-blinks- Wow.... I'm a newbie on the guild and I've playing the clarinet for 5 years. blaugh I love it and it's awesome when my mom gives me some of her old sheet music. heart

sharp_edge i play the clarinet, depite me being 6th chair, i am better then our first chair... i play 7th chair and i am better than the 2nd chair clarinet but i dont mind at least i am in the band

im a clarinetist originally we dont really have chairs in our band but i wouls most likely be in 2nd or third if we did
ive been playing for almost three years now

'Ello my fellow clarinet players! I Have been playing for 6 or 7 years now and I play in both conert and marching band... I was ranked at 2nd or 3rd chair (which is pretty good for a sophmore if you ask me...) but then we got a new band director who doesnt know what shes doing and screwed everything up...
