Well, she could help with that. It wasn't too long ago that everything that had come out of her mouth had been a question. "Blue," Maia replied, smiling at him. "Yours? Do you have any hobbies?"

"I could have guessed that one. Violet for me." Hobbies, hmm. "I run quite a bit? Rosie and I do agility." She was pretty good at it, actually. Dobermans needed a hell of a lot of exercise. That was half the reason he'd chosen her. "I hear you like to cook."

"I do," Maia beamed. "I wasn't very good at it, before I came. I burnt something So bad the pan turned black. Toby's been teaching me. I've started cooking on my own, too. I've had to, while they've been away. I like making things, too. I found this craft store and this lady told me all about this website that tells you how to make all sorts of stuff. I don't miss them so much when my hands a8re busy."

"What, Pinterest?" Lori didn't spent a lot of time on the internet outside of work, but he didn't live under a rock either. "I'm not the best cook by far. I've never burned a pan, but I can't make anything special. I'm a shame in the gay community."

"Yes, that," Maia smiled, "There's so many things to make." She considered Lori's cooking problem, and then declared, "I'll make things for you more often. I can make pancakes now. Toby taught me how to fold blueberries into them without making them explode."

"Pancakes. I can do pancakes," Lori nodded, "but only with a mix, and the last time I tried to put something in them I had chocolate crust on my pan."
The dog park wasn't too far away. Usually he and Rosie drove, though, because going for a run could wear her out for other dogs. She'd had plenty of rest time now, though.
"That's my house," he said as they passed, pointing. It was rather similar to Toby's but only one floor.

Maia was horrified. Pancakes from a mix? No, No, that wouldn't do. "I'll make you some for breakfast tomorrow," She told him. "When you come get me for classes." She looked out The window when Lori pointed out his house. "Its nice," she said, smiling.
It wasn't long before they were at the park. Maia found a bench once put of the car.

"You really don't have to."
Lori got Rosie inside the fence, unhooked her leash and took off her booties while a mass of dogs swarmed around them, and then the dog took off like a bullet to play with the others. She was gentle with the little ones and almost liked them better. Dogs her own size or bigger tended to scare her if they tackled her.
The elf then found Maia amongst the pet parents and sat beside her.
"So. How're you doing?"

Maia was surprised by the question. She blinked, hesitated, and then said, "I'm fine." She watched Rosie with the other dogs and smiled. "I never cared for dogs much, you know. But yours is nice." And seemed a lot more intelligent than the crazy ones at the beach.

"No? I like them. Most of them," Lori said. Maia had completely skipped over his question. He had to keep an eye on Rosie as she played, but he was still interested in talking to Maia. "I rescued her when she was a little under a year old. She's almost five now. You'd never know it, though."
He paused, and then turned to Maia briefly. "Do I get to ask you about you and Toby?"

"I always thought they were stupid," Maia said. "Chasing balls and flying disks, drooling," she wrinkled her nose. Rosie was great, in comparison, brilliant. "I like her."
She hesitated at the question. Well. She supposed. They were friends, after all. "What do you want to know?" She asked.

"Oh, she'll chase a ball," Lori said with a little chuckle, "but I'm glad." Most people liked Rosie.
He shrugged then. "I don't know. Has anything happened? Is anything different?" Especially now that he was gone on a mission.

Nothing had happened, really. Toby flirted, she flirted back. "We flirt," she shrugged. "More than usual. And his hugs have gotten tighter and they last longer. But nothing's happened." She considered his question. Nothing had changed. If anything, he was on her mind more than ever, now that he was away.
"I miss him. I'm always worrying about him, thinking about him..." And her heart ached when she remembered the house was empty. "I'm glad you came and told me he's alright."

Toby did flirt with pretty much anyone. The hugs changing, though, that was new. Of course nothing had happened, but that wasn't really why he had asked. Was she still attached after he had been gone now for most of a week? Was that long enough?
"That's a shame. He's kind of an idiot. He is fine, though."

"When will he be back?" Maia asked. Toby hadn't seemed to think it would be a long mission, but it'd already been almost a week and she still hadn't gotten a phone call. "Whatever they're after must be giving them trouble."
