tam smiles gently at him... i love you to, kerobian... and holds him until he falls asleep... then he slips downstairs and corners a young boy he has seen around the inn, who appears to be rather responsible... he writes a note and gives it to the lad to take to a particular shop in town, then hands the boy a silver for his efforts, promising him that if he does well on this errand he may have one for him later as well... the boy's eyes grow rounds as saucers and his head does a wonderful imitation of the bobbing woodpecker toy before he dashes off to do as tam asks...
then tam goes to the kitchen to talk to the cook and innkeeper, who is helping his wife peal apples for the night's dessert...
a few minutes later he is back in the room with a tray piled with fruit and rolls, plus a nice small round of cheese... he looks at kero, curled up on the bed and smiles widely, pulling forth his favorite harp and tuning it quietly... all afternoon people come and go at the door, knocking so quietly, kero doesn't even know they are there and tam, ever careful speaks to them outside the door to avoid waking him as well...

*Kero's eyes twitch...and his ears flick...but the Melatoxin in his system refuses to allow him to wake...Hopian soon drops by....his face rather red...and panting for breath...in his hands is a small glass vial...he hands it to Tam*
My venom...Serotoxin...Venom of Pain...it's also the antidote to Melatoxin...use it should it happen again...*A hand reaches out and grabs him*....Coming, sweetheart....*Looks at Tam*....I swear...she just can't get enough...

tam chuckles softly and tucks the vial away, praying he never has to use it... by nightfall he has composed a special song and checks in on kero to see if he is beginning to wake or if he should order dinner as well....

tam misses this and goes back to his harp hoping to work out a few glitches in his tune....

*Kero pretends to curl up...a tear in his eye...he realizes Tam is working on a song for his birthday...and stings himself...putting himself back to sleep, and supressing his memory of this incident*

tam finishes the song and puts away his harp... going over to kero he gives him a gentle shake, worried that he is sleeping so long... kero... dulcha... are ye hungry... he asks rubbing his ears

*Kero wakes up at the shaking...his dose was more to erase his memory than anything else...the song now seems like a dream to him...*

now why would i do anything like that says tam with a grin... dinner tonight is roast pig... one of the foresters managed to bring down a feral hog and as the hearth in the inn kitchen was the only one large enough to cut it whole, they chose to have a village wide gather... shall we go taste this tame beastie gone wild?

tam carefully picks him up and carries him into the dining room, which is festooned with flowers and all sorts of decorations... the room is alive with activity... near to the hearth are people doing a ring dance... and all about the room are the vilagers who had interacted with tam and kero on a daily basis since their arrival... including several members of the village guards, two of which are still in uniform....
as tam enters, everyone turns and greets them warmly... including the farmer from the troubling incident that had led to much of their troubles... he approaches and twisting his hat in hand apologizes to kerobian for his rudeness that night and asks when he is coming out to the farm to get his horse...

everyone laughs gently at the cub's shyness and no one else seems to want to come forward just yet... tam carries him to a corner table, that has been set for two individuals... there is a wooden box on one of the stools.... a perfect height for a hungry cat to dine from... the smell of the roast pork is so enticing, kerko finds his mouth watering.... and there is a jug of fresh cream at his plate, and a bowl to drink it from.....
