Tobi seemed to busy himself under one of the large chairs in the room. There were papers and books and he kept nudging those out of the way with his nose in search of something shiny. Pushing the parchment and leather bound books out from under the chair with his paws he continued to dig. Shiny was always better, was there anything shiny? He had seen the weaponry on the wall, but those were far to big to carry. Something smaller would be best.

Done examining the weapon, Blade set it down and turned towards Riyo. Remembering a few things she had told the group, he could only imagine that she had gone through something similar. Shaking his head slowly, he let out a small sigh.

"I suppose. But there are those out there who don't even need to know what I am before they start fearing or looking down on me. They see that my eyes are not 'normal' and already have a guard up," he said in somewhat of a flat tone. Though, soon after he said that, a mildly amused smile appeared.

"But, considering my.. hobbies, the raiding part of those dragon stories might not be completely false in my case."

Shifting his attention as Tobi started rummaging around under a chair, the thief made his way over and crouched down by the books on the ground. He picked up one old, worn, leather-bound book and opened it up. It appeared to be some sort of journal, judging the handwriting. However, it was completely in draconic. Frowning at this, he flipped through it some more for the off chance that he'd be able to read something in there, but it was no use.

Riyo didn't say 'I know how you feel' or anything along those lines when he started talking about people being frightened of his appearance. She knew she didn't like when people said that, because the situation was never exactly the same. Her hands snugged into her pants pockets, resisting the urge to touch things that she knew nothing about.

When he finally smiled, she felt a little bit of the tenseness fade out.

She had to wonder... What it was like to be in your ancestors dwelling. Somebody you had never met, but was closely related to you. Riyo knew absolutely nothing of her family tree. Not last names... Not even first names. Not of what they did or where they were, or even how they died. And considering the bad blood they had passed down to her, perhaps it was a good thing.

When Tobi started making noise and Blade went over to check on him, red eyes followed the line of attention with interest. What was that book they'd found? Casually, the cat found her way over to once again peek over Blade's shoulder, curiosity once again conquering. "C-can you read?" She meekly questioned, not realizing that the words in the book were... Very different from your average written language.

The young man shook his head slowly as he flipped through the journal a little more.

"No.. not this at least. I never learned how to read or write Draconic," he replied. A pity too... he probably would have been able to learn a lot about the man if he was able to decipher these words. Setting the journal down, he picked up another book, but it too was in draconic. However, this one had some pictures and diagrams. There were also some different characters here and there, and over all the book seemed to deal with the arcane.

"Have you.. ever tried learning about your ancestors at all?" he asked out of curiosity. If Blade recalled correctly, she wasn't too fond of her family... but he figured he'd ask anyway.

Tobi continued to sniff about until he found something of interest. At first he couldn't be sure of what it was. It looked like the sun was trying to glint off something metallic but the dust was so thick it was blocking the light. Taking his paw he scratched at the item, a puff of dust bellowing up into his face. The canine sneezed violently before he leaned his head down to see what he had found.

It indeed seemed to be shiny. One of those small chain things that females often wore about their neck. It even had a rather large charm dangling from it with something scribbled across it. Taking the chain gently between his teeth Tobi scooted back out from under the chair with his prize. Once he was out from under the furniture he sneeze again, his face completely covered in dust.

Draconic, huh? She'd never heard of it, but by the name she could only assume it was a language for dragons. Perhaps what the guards had been speaking when they first ran into them...

Riyo sort of glanced away when Blade asked about her ancestors. "No, and I don't particularly care to... All of them had the choice to stop passing on the bad blood to their children before the curse became reality, but instead they just shrugged it off and expected the next generation to." She shrugged as she finished speaking, her voice holding a very matter-of-fact tone.

Her ears twitched as a soft jingling from Tobi's general direction. "What's that?"

Putting the book down, Blade glanced over at Riyo as she explained. Well he could get an idea why she wouldn't really care much for the past black cats. He couldn't say he really understood how she felt about that though.

"I see.. though, bad blood and curses aside, it's at least gotten us a good friend," he said with a weak smile.

Hearing the jingle as well, the thief made his way over towards Tobi as he saw a glint of light. It looked like some sort of amulet or necklace. Lightly patting the dog to get some of the dust off of his face, he reached for the object to examine it. He couldn't read the text, which looked like some sort of scripture.

"I think it's a holy charm," he said. Normally he'd offer to let Riyo see it herself, but if he was right, it likely would just end up hurting her, "Sorry boy but we're going to have to leave that here."

The sweet comment from Blade had made her smile for a moment, though it quickly faded as he pulled up the charm. He didn't need to tell her. She could feel what it was as it got closer.

Riyo's ears folded back while the small hairs on her body stood on end. "I... See..." She took a few steps back subconsciously. "W-why would that be here?"

Going off of Riyo's reactions, it seemed his suspicions were true. Just to be safe, he took an extra step or two away from her, not completely certain what its effects on her would be or how close she had to be to it in the first place.

"Dragons tend to be affiliated with fire and holy... My grandfather may have been a religious guy," he explained while looking it over some more. Now that made him wonder if the dragons around here were religious in general, or if they just were able to use white magic.

Blade soon placed the amulet back down, hopefully out of Tobi's reach. It probably wouldn't do if the dog brought it back... and accidentally left it in Riyo's bed or something along those lines. He looked around some more, noticing a sizable painting on the back wall. It was of a black dragon with fierce red eyes and golden horns. Regal and deadly at the same time it appeared in the painting. At first he wondered if his grandfather was capable of shifting, but there was a sort of plaque at the bottom of the painting that had a name he did not recognize.

"Huh.."

"Oh." Riyo replied simply, eyeing Blade as he sat the necklace down. If Blade was holy, he would've told her, right? Just then, when he suggested his grandfather was probably just religious... That meant that he couldn't and wouldn't use holy magic... Right?

Trying not to think about the holy object in the room, she too spotted the painting. If that dragon had actually been here, she probably would've been scared shitless. But since it was just a picture, she couldn't help seeing it in a different light. Strange to think Blade had descended from something like that, considering he appeared to be a normal human, save the red eyes.

"Who's that?" She hoped he didn't mind all the questions, but it wasn't everyday you got a lesson in your friend's ancestry.

Tobi gave a whine as Blade placed the necklace down. Apparently that's not what they were looking for. And he was sure he had found something good. Dejected he made his way to Riyo and leaned against her leg as the two of them examined the picture.

"I'm... not sure.."

Studying the painting some more, he noted the horns were somewhat similar to the ones on his grandfather's head. Perhaps this was the dragon that started it all? Blade did recall his father saying something about coming from a black dragon.

"He... might be my great grandfather... The one who forged this," he said after thinking it over and motioning to his sword. Judging the name, 'Kazadruk', it seemed that he was also the one that started the odd naming convention of weapons. That was one thing he was rather curious of, but it seemed he wouldn't be able to learn the answer today.

Already restless from laying on the couch Mitsu decided to go outside and get some fresh air. If she had any clue where Riyo and Blade had gone she would have followed to see what they were up to. It would at least be something to occupy her mind for a while. Exiting the house, Mitsu closed the door behind herself quietly looking up at the sky as it slowly began to lighten into morning.

Taking her time she made her way down the path, enjoying the feeling of the still cooler morning. Once she was to the street she was at a loss for what to do. It really didn't look like anyone was out. Looking back to the house for a moment Mitsu turned back to the street and took a left. It looked like there had been shops and so on in this direction. At least she thought it was this direction. She knew it hadn't been far from the bathhouse but at the moment she was a little turned around.

That's where Blade got the sword from? She'd always assumed it was just a normal weapon and left it at that. It still could be just that... But something about a sword made from a dragon made it seem... Special.

"That's a pretty interesting family tree you've got there." Riyo looked from the painting to Blade a few times, still in a bit of awe over the relation. Funny. He descended from this huge magnificent looking winged creature while she was from a lanky, hideous, vicious, and overall unpleasant monstrosity. It was like a 'fancy meeting you here' kind of moment, upon reflection.

"Thanks.." he said while examining the painting some more. His trip here had answered some questions, and gave him some new ones to think about, that was for certain. His father had planned on taking the family to visit this place sometime, but that obviously never got to happen. Blade, now wondered what his experience would have been like if it did occur. That aside, there were more questions about Dirk and Kazadruk that he would like to know.

The young man looked around a little longer, but he felt that he had learned just about all he could without someone helping him explain or translate things. Turning towards Riyo, he smiled faintly.

"I think I'm done here. Sorry if this ended up being kinda boring for you; this was kinda something I wanted to check out ever since we arrived in the city."

As soon as he finished this statement, he heard a soft meow from somewhere in the room. Blinking, he looked around, trying to pin point the source. When he failed to spot anything initially, he thought Riyo may have been trying to mess with him. Another meow sounded out through the shop, and this time he was able to locate it. On one of the counters, behind a shield, were a pair of bright green eyes.

Tilting his head, he slowly approached this shield and moved it aside. Sure enough, there was a black cat sitting there, staring up at him with relative disintrest. It had a small, red collar, so now he had to wonder if this once belonged to his grandfather and it just stuck around the place since then.
