Rabid's ears buzzed at the sudden silence, but not enough to stop her from hearing. She cleared her throat to alert Lenore to her presence.
"Bah," Malachi nodded nervously. He was very curious.
He, on the other hand, could hear almost nothing.

"Um, actually," Len trailed off, looking guiltily up at Rabid. "Maybe we should-"
"Accursed winged rodents! I never shoulda brought them with me, the ungrateful little feathered freaks of nature!"
Crow stormed back down the lawn, looking scorched. Her face was blackened with what looked like soot, and her hair stood on end underneath her side-cocked pilots helmet. Growling and grumbling, Crow marched to the shore and picked Lenore up.
Taking a deep breath and giving Rabid a worn-out smile, she tried to wipe some of the soot off her face with dignity.
"Uh, the rats sort of made my surround sound speakers....explode. Me an' Len are gonna have to go to town to get a repair guy up here, and then we're gonna get some rat traps," she said, nearly shouting the last two words towards her room. A thin lick of grey smoke drifted out of the window, where a few equally sooty and smoking winged kangaroo rats sat guiltily.
Heaving a sigh, she put Lenore down and held her by the hand, leading her back to HQ.
"See ya later, Rabid," Crow said, pausing only to extinguish a bit of her hair that was still smoldering.
Lenore looked back and waved goodbye to Malachi dolefully.
"Bye, Bah!"

"Bye...Crow..." Rabid's eyes went wide as she picked Malachi up and headed toward her room.
"BAH, LEN!" Malachi called and waved as Crow and Len walked away.

"Mama!" Shavira half dragged, half led Kii out of the building and into the outside world. "'C'moooooon Maaamaaaaa! Shliiiiiiide!" Shavi pointed at the playground area nearby. She was wide awake, and bursting with unused energy, and when Kii had finally agreed to go outside and play, leaving her work behind, Shavi could barely keep still or slow down.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa there, sweetheart...I'm coming, I'm coming. Yes, we'll go on the slide...but you have to wait for me!" She laughed as she was yanked even closer to the play area, hurried along. "Having kids must be a great way to lose weight...." She panted and let her daughter and HER snakes start climbing the ladder.

Rabid was laying horizontally across the top of the the monkey bars, only half watching her son. He could be trusted.
Her head snapped up when she heard a little girl's voice. She looked toward the HQ and saw 2 girls approaching; a teen with green hair and a small redheaded toddler with...wait...were those snakes?
Malachi sat behind the protective railing in the little hut before the slide, his legs through 2 holes. He kicked his feet gently and stared at the glistening lake beyond. He mindlessly played with the little blue marble in his pocket, a strange habit he'd picked up recently.
He hummed to himself as best he could, his ears folded backward against all other noise.

Finally at the top of the ladder, Shavira threw her arms up over her head. "Taaah BaaaH!" She giggled hysterically and wiggled her fingers. When she looked up, she suddenly noticed Rabid nearby. "Ah?" She stared at her for a moment...before..."MAHMA! Ladi." She pointed, accusingly at Rabid.
Kii, also noticing Rabid and Malachi, blinked in surprise. "Oh! Hello! Sorry to er...bother you." She turned quickly to Shavira. "It's alright, hun...It looks like this lady, not ladi dear, is a mommy just like me." She smiled before turning BACK to Rabid. She seemed a bit...unorganized. "Sorry, again...I'm KiiMeLwi!"

Rabid smiled at the little girl before turning to KiiMeLwi.
"Hello," she laughed and gave a close-lipped smile, not even attempting to pronounce the girl's name. She gave a small wave to the snake-girl before she flipped her legs over the side of the monkey bars and sat on the edge.
"Cute little girl. What's her name?"
Malachi's ears perked at the sound of the other mishap's voice. He turned around quickly, smacking his toe into a bar.
"Owwww..." he murmured, and then smiled up at the girl and pointed to himself, "Hai. Ike."

Finally noticing Malachi, Shavira grinned and waved. Whenever she saw another Mishap, she knew everything was alright. She supposed Kii made her worry over 'strangers' for nothing...maybe. "Ike!" She repeated, slowly. "Me Shavi! Nayc too met yuu." She struggled with the longer sentence her mother had been trying to teach her.
KiiMeLwi walked around to the other side of the slide and opened her arms, ready to catch Shavira if she decided she still wanted to go down. "Yes, this is Shavira. Please excuse her speech, she hasn't seem to completely get the hang of it yet." It was one of her worries...Shavira's slower learning of speech...but she wouldn't let it bother her unless it became a big problem...Shavi still had time. "As for myself, you can call me Kii. Like everyone else, of course."

Malachi smiled and stood, wobbling on his weak legs.
"Thhh..." he cringed at the sound of his own pathetic 's'. He opened his mouth a little.
"Thhhhssssss....Saaaahvi. Saahvi. Savvy?" he smiled. It was close enough. The 's' was shrill and whistling, but at least he didn't have that lousy lisp.
"Shavira. Pretty name," Rabid smiled, "This is Malachi. Uh...Ike for short. Nice to meet you, Kii." She dropped down to the ground and joined Kii at the end of the slide, keeping a moderate distance. Her personal bubble was quite large when it came to strangers.

Shavira blinked, surprised at the new nickname. "Savvy?....Bah." She mumbled...her favorite word of all time, and perfect for any situation. Seeing Kii was ready, Shavira plopped her butt down onto the plastic slide and pushed off, screeching joyously as she slid to the bottom. Her snakes pushed themselves close to her body so they wouldn't get crushed or bumped on the ride. "MAH!" She grabbed onto Kii, and let herself be picked up and put back on the ground. She then rushed off to go towards Rabid. "La..dy...em, Ike wanna play?" Her snakes swirled around her belly, trying to get a good look at this new person.
Kii rushed after Shavi, a bit red in the face. "Oh, goodness, I'm sorry. I suppose she doesn't understand her manners much either..." She tugged Shavi's hand before she could grab Rabid's clothes.

"Oh, it's no problem," Rabid smiled. Shavira was quite adorable, "Yes, Shavira. Ike can play."
She then turned toward the time of the slide.
"Ike! Come on!" she said and clapped her hands as if calling a dog.
"BAH!" Malachi shook his head, staring down the plastic slope of doom.
"Come on! Mummy'll catch you!"
"Augh..." Malachi imitated the sound Mummy had made so many times before. She turned around and slid down the slide butt-first.
Rabid carefully caught her son and placed him on the ground. "Go play with Shavira."
Malachi nodded and smiled up at Savvy.

"Yeee!" Shavira clapped as Malachi went backwards down the slide. "Goo' Ike! Less pway!" She rushed off towards the sandbox..
Kii clapped just when Shavi did. "Yes, Ike is good at going down the slide." She grinned. "And he's adorable...He seems sweet, but I can only imagine he's a handful. So was...er...is...Shavira. So...When did you come to the Mishaps?"

Malachi squealed and followed as quickly as possible. He crawled carefully into the sandbox and brushed the sand out of his elbow-fur.
"Bah," he sat down and cocked his head to one side, not quite knowing what one was to do in a wooden-framed square of dry soil.
"Psh. He fakes it well," Rabid snickered and looked to Kii, "You mean the shop? God, I dunno. I'd been visiting a lot for a few months. I'm quite surprised that I hadn't seen you, actually. I...err...came across Malachi on the first of this month." She looked pointedly down at her scarred hand.

Shavira had already started to make a large pile of sand. She grinned as Malachi joined her, but also felt strange movement at her belly. Looking down, she noticed most of her snakes were wrapping themselves around her belly, trying to get behind her. She blinked in confusion, not knowing what they were doing, or what was wrong...
Kii laughed outright, knowing exactly how Mishaps could be. Seeing the scars, she gasped, and nodded. "Ah...interesting meeting, I assume." She hadn't had any recent bites, scrathes or slashes from Shavira and her snakes in a while...she had gotten used to them by now, and how not to annoy them. "I used to get plenty of those."

Malachi sighed sadly when he saw the snakes movin away. Typical.
"Bah," he said and tried to smile at them, creating his version of a sand snake. It looked quite a bit more like a staff, but it was good enough for him.
"Kinda like...err..." Rabid began making frantic hand gestures to accentuate her sounds, "Slash. OW! Blahblahblah. BOOM! Little floaty kid..."
Yeah, so she was a bit eccentric.
