Serenity's eyes widened, and she swore softly under her breath.
"Ruel ..." she murmured, her face growing troubled once more. She rubbed her arms anxiously. "I should wait outside ..."
A door down the hall opened and closed quietly, and Ulani and Ulrich appeared in the livingroom.
"Morning all," Ulani grinned cheerfully. She waved to their newcome guest. "Hi, Serenity! Glad you made it all right. I hope everything's well?"
She smiled widely. Serenity did indeed look much better than she had on previous visits. Perhaps meeting her granddaughter had helped.

"Don't you dare," Donovan gave Serenity a look as he pulled Kara onto his lap, throwing all caution to the wind.
Besides it would give Ruel a better target, at the moment seeing as Kara's wings were out and it felt sort of fluffy to have her there.
"That's not how it goes," he told her firmly, "You are a mother, his mother, it doesn't matter if he's disowned you or not, you gave birth to him, and so you have every right to stay where you are. Dammit, don't tell me you're scared of that over grown a** that calls himself a man."

Kara eeped as she found her seating arranagement changed, she moved a bit so her wings wouldn't be knocking him. The angel whacked Donovan though, on the arm.
"Don't swear, you promised you wouldn't swear in front of the little ones," she pouted.

Ulani's eyes widened. Apparently she and Ulrich had walked in on something ... they shouldn't have. She tugged Ulrich's arm and dragged him into the kitchen, out of the way.
"That a**," Serenity replied evenly, "is the father of my grandson. I'm not scared of him, I'm just trying to keep my privilege of seeing my grandson once a year at least. That means, I avoid Ruel if I can, so that he'll bring Daeron out here again."
She set her jaw stubbornly. "I hate what he's become, but I can't even begin to do anything about it or I'll never see Daeron again. I still haven't seen Earendil or Tinuviel, and I haven't even met his wife! Daeron is the only one who's met me, the only one who insists on visiting me - and if I do anything to mess that up, Ruel won't let that happen anymore."

Kara sighed a bit, shifting around as she moved to trying and hug Donovan before he could say anything else. He was such a blunt man, but with so many... different morals. Hard to believe by many.
"Donovan," she put a hand to his lips, "As much as I like your way with things, now is not the time. This is not the clans," she reminded him, "This is certainly not your clan. Please don't get into an argument over this."

Donovan settled back into his seat, removing Kara's hand. He understood that dammit, but it didn't make it any better. He had morals to hold on to, it was the only thing his clan had to keep them from going over the edge, it had what kept them from being mindless killers.
"I kind of got that after Elnara, it doesn't make it any better," he grumbled wondering if that would ever happen to him, to Kara.
He doubted it, the kids learned the hard way of what family was like, they wouldn't do that. They better not.

Serenity sighed. "I'm going to wait outside ... when Daeron wakes up, can you send him to the river?" she requested. And without waiting for an answer, she moved Skye and Miyu to the couch and headed out the door.

Miyu pouted a bit when she realized she wasn't close to anyone anymore. She looked around, watching Skye to see how she would react, since Skye looked pleased enough.
Kara sighed settling close to Donovan's chest playing with the unbutton parts of his shirt, "We will," she told Serenity, watching her leave.
Life wasn't suppose to be fair, but you had to wonder at times.

Donovan watched, it was a pity Ruel was obviously hardhead the moron. Quite a pity he thought, he watched Kara thoughtfully. No wonder why Triton was so determined, or that Elnara was so warly. Ah well, he thought, deal with one problem at a time, dealing with all problems would make a person go mad.
That and he thought Kara was rubbing off on him.

Skye blinked as Serenity disappeared out the door, and she stopped stroking Miyu's wings.
She looked up at Kara perplexedly. "S'enity?" she asked, cocking her head curiously. "Go bye?"

Ulrich came out of the kitchen just then and sighed when he saw the now-vacated couch. He took a seat where Serenity had been sitting and stared across at Donovan and Kara.
"Starting to understand the problem a bit?" he asked quietly, raising one eyebrow.

"Honour thy mother and thy father," Donovan quoted with a grim look on his face, cupping Kara's cheek, "The clans are so different back home, though not without it's problems, but that is one rarely known," he muttered.
Donovan didn't give a nay or yay whether he understood it or not, he did, it was just a bitter thing to see.
"So while establishing there are problems," Donovan looked at Ulrich, "It just means, she's going to live here for the rest of her life."
He thought that sucked personally, she deserved a good home, but at least these two love birds were here.

"Sorry," Kara replied taking Donovan's hand before she found herself in an even more compromising position, "Donovan is a blunt man," she gave him a look as if to tell him to argue with that.

"Bluntness can be a good thing," Ulrich shrugged. "Valar know, Ruel could sure use someone being blunt with him. Except that I'm pretty sure if anyone tried it, Serenity would never see Daeron again."
He sighed. "If it weren't for Daeron, I'd teach Ruel a lesson myself," he muttered in a threatening tone.

"Even if the both of you could," Kara butt in, "It's not going to help Serenity's situtation, every day she spends here without her family is worse than having a mob chase after her. Elnara is for good reason wary about coming home, but we should at least convince her to come here," she smiled a bit, "Besides she promised Celebor anyhow."
She needs a mother's day gift, Kara thought to herself quietly.
