--Five hours later--
Maida jumped from her perch atop the dresser to land perfectly balanced straddling poor Kibo's waist. Zia stood and moved to the more conventional seat of the edge of the bed.
"You never answered our question." "No, you didn't." "You just said 'Please. I'm tired, and all I want is some sleep. Just please, leave me alone for a while,'"
Maida perfectly mimicked Kibo's voice, down to the anxious and drowsy inflections.
"It's been a while." "Five hours, actually." "So did you go to school," "Or did you teach yourself, like Linda did?"

Kibo sighs, and rubs his temples.
Kibo: I learned from my old captain. Now will you please let me sleep?

"You did sleep." "An awful long time." "You don't need a lot of sleep." "And you are so very interesting to talk to." "Who was your old captain?" "Was he a smart man?" "Of course he was! He taught him didn't he? What kind of question was that?"
Zia whacked her friend's head.
"It was an innocent question! There are many different kinds of intelligence. He could of been a brilliant sea commander, but horrible with history."
Maida tackled her friend, bringing them both down onto the floor.
"Don't hit me!" "I didn't. Your head got in the way of my hand."

Kibo sighs, and rubs his temples again.
Kibo: Captain Chris Farind. Why not bother him for a while?
He runs his thumb across his canine teeth, leaving a small cut on it. He touches his thumb to the ground, and snaps his fingers. A man appears, completely solid and living.
Kibo: Zia, Maida, this is Chris Farind. If you have any questions, ask him.
With a swift motion, he pulled himself out from under Zia, quickly falling asleep once he had laid himself out again.

Zia and Maida stood and bowed at their respective names.
"Pleased to meet you." "Oh so veryvery pleased." "So what kind of smart are you?" "And why doesn't Kibo want to talk to us anymore?" "Maybe it was the rabbit thing." "I'll bet Storm made him eat Paté." "But that's good." "Oh yes, it's oh so veryvery good. But iron dwellers can't seem to stumach it." "Pity." "Yes. Ah well, more for us, right?" "Of course! Do we have a rabbit and some jellied dog's brain on board?"
Zia aimed her last question Farind's way.

Farind tilts his head, looking around.
Farind: Umm... I'm not sure. This isn't my ship. Why not go ask the chef?

"But you're a spirit aren't you?" "What could a ghost bound to a sleeping man possible have to do," "Other then watch us mortals?"

Farind: Well, I hardly think that's any of your business. Now run along, go look for your jellied rabbit brain, or whatever it was.

Zia shook her finger in Farind's face.
"Nownow, don't be rude." "Or if you are going to be rude, at least get the meat stright." "It's jellied dog's brain," "And live rabbit."

Farind: Alright, jellied dog's brain, then. I'm sure the chef'll have some, if you ask him.

Zia stepped forward and linked arms with her friend.
"Somehow I get the feeling that he doesn't like us." "That has to be a first," "Not being liked by a ghost," "Bound to a sleeping man," "Who has nothing to do," "But pick on little girls."

Farind: I never said I wouldn't come along. I just don't want you to disturb Kibo there. He doesn't get much sleep, so whenever he can, he often sleeps for hours and hours and hours, ans he's often cranky if he woken without having at least 15 hours.
He leans in to Zia and Maida, whispering quietly.
Farind: Trust me. If Kibo's cranky, everyone suffers. He can be quite a nuisance at times.

Zia and Maida shared the same grin.
"My good sir ghosty," "Do you mind if we call you ghosty?" "You obviously haven't been paying much attention," "To us in the last ten minuets," "Of our converstation." "Besides, when you run with Storm," "You get used to cranky really fast."

Farind: Then you know my predicament. Now, let's see if there's any of those strange dishes on board.
Farind ushers the girls out of the room, and closes the door behind him.
