Iden sagged in his seat, and reached a hand for the goblet as it was offered. He downed it quickly, and rubbed the stain from his lips with his sleeve.
That was a d**k move, and you know it.
Iden sighed, and let the goblet slide from his fingers to rest back upon the desk. His head slowly shook from side to side, as he gathered his thoughts into a proper report.
Confirm and deny. As always, the truth is a little more complicated than the rumor.
Iden idly scratched at the back of his head, still unsure of how to start. So, he opted to go for the beginning.
First and foremost, yes, things have been hairy of late. My mind WAS in bad shape. I got help, it's not of concern anymore. Yes, Roan has been on edge. But so have the whole lot of us...and we'd be as a whole a lot less messed up if we didn't have deranged half goats breathing down our collective necks in addition to the standard set of worries.
Iden's eyes met Raoul's. The Brujah was keeping neutral, maintaining his composure to reinforce that he was being open, honest, and objective.
I'll watch the kid for you if you order it, but make sure you do a good job with him first. Last thing I need is some ******** FNG who can't defend himself clinging to one of the ghouls in a fight.

The water was cold as he washed his vest in the sink. Stripped to the waist he mentally berated himself for making such a mess.
He was at his desk in his notebook when the men had been brought in, and he could have ignored them at least for a little while if one hadn't been bleeding. He made a quick notation before standing and surveying the three. He walked over and seized the bleeding one and immediately bit in. After he had drained him he pushed him away and walked back to his notebook. Another minute of scrabbling and he turned to the next guy. As he latched onto him the third began screaming through the gag and tryig to roll away in terror. Thrar glanced up from the second victim with a vengeful look in his eye. He absolutely hated being interrupted during meals and that feeling was only stronger now given the increase in the quality.
He released the second man and stood. Then he dropped into a stance and made a few quick punches gaging the speed and power then moved over to the panicking man and swiftly punched him in the temple. The man's eyes slid out of focus as she slipped into unconciousness. Thrar smiled and flexed his hand, he hadn't really expected to get it right on the first try. With that he went back to feeding. After a second round of notes young cainite was feeling full if that was the appropriate word. He shot a look at the unconcious man on the floor and decided to let it wait.
He then began a cursory examination of the room everything about it from the contents of the drawers to where all the power outlets were; he got a full rundown on the place. As he was moving back to the front he heard a loud thump and a muffled yell. The man had come to, righted himself and been attempting to fumble at the door when he fell and bashed his head agaisnt a cabinet... bringing forth a lovely red stream of blood. Thrar was irritated at this man's persistance, impressed but irritated. But when the smell of blood hit him again he lost it.
There wasn't too much left when he was done. Most of the limbs were at odd angles and the left arm was pulled off. When Thrar came too he stood and walked to the bathroom. He began washing the blood off his hands he realized that he would have to do laundry before these clothes were presentable again. He splashed cold water on his face and looked up to the mirror to see if he had missed any spots when he realized there was no reflection. After he had gotten off all the blood he could find he made a notation of the mild irritance and began to truly settle in, starting with putting those bodies outside and cleaning the blood off the floor.

Your language is lacking as ever, childe, but that 'd**k move' as you put it did its job effectively.
*Tasting his wine once again, Raoul sighed with pleasure, listening to Iden intently*
If you tell me you are of sane mind and body, I believe it. I can smell you speak what you believe to be the truth. Roan is always on edge, so this comes as no extra suprise. With regards to Deciet, I have even less control over what he does and does not do than your Sire herself does. Im fortunate enough to slip beneath his radar as not important enough. At least your answers show your political wrangling si slowly improving.
*Another pause, another sip*
I think you will be the best team to assign a non-augmented Cainite to. Corbin;s unit is comprised of entirely altered beings, Dagoth's of primarily otherwordly shinigami. I do not think our friend will deal well with either, and will be better off with a more... conventional patrol group. I will make sure he can hid ein eth shadows before I release him to you. I will wish him ONLY to observe in the initial stages, and will not make you count him properly among your team until YOU tell me he is ready. Does that suit you?

Language notwithstanding, the politics of the matter have little to do with it. For all the maturity the dumb s**t shows, I might as well be working for the anarchs.
It was an unnecessary aside, given Raoul's explanation of his own relation with Deciet. But Iden felt it needed to be said, and he let it hang at that. The bitter shake of his head forced the thoughts from his head, allowing him to consider more important matters.
If you teach him what you can, then I guess I can't say much, can I? Just make sure he's good at what he does...I hear Lasombra are vengeful little bastards with thier runaways. I can't guarantee he won't be in the line of fire, observer or not.

I will teach him to hide, and I will teach him to fight in time. While he is with you however... I expect you to at least afford him the same protection you would any OTHER member of your team.
Which will then only leave us to your price in return. Shall we start negotiating?
*Raoul laid his hands on his stomach, watching Iden closely*

As long as you teach him, we'll have his back.
Iden nodded, then his face turned to a grim, emotionless demeanor, a mask meant for such dealings as "price".
You don't need me to tell you what I want.

Im a very old man, Iden. With very old ideals. Tell me your price, in your own words, and we will barter. This is how it works. Be glad I even recognise I will be in your debt for doing this, instead of just ordering you to do it.
*He poured more vitae for Iden, waving his hand to gesture Iden to begin the bargaining process*

Yeah, well, some things don't ever change.
Iden's right leg lifted, and crossed over his left. He pulled the leg of his jeans up, showing the anklet, still in the same place it had first been placed. Iden ran his hand along the metal, and his eyebrow twitched, the grimace only barely averted.
I've got enough people holding me on a leash without adding one of the few I enjoy working for to the list. I want it off, plain and simple. In exchange for the services rendered, and my word that my loyalties remain as they are: to family, and then to your office.
Iden's gaze lifted from the anklet, to fix his cold stare upon Raoul, awaiting the rebuttal he felt certain to come.

You know I cannot do so. Your... independance... makes it unwise to even think about it.
*Raoul steepled his fingers and leant forwards once more*
I will not cut you loose Iden, but I may be willing to... change... your status. Think carefully, and ask again
*Outside Thrar's room, the three bodies were removed and fresh clothing placed outside his door - the non descript plain black of Raoul's personal guard, complete with embroidered silver wolf on the chest. An attendant knocked Thrar's door, leaving a note on the pile - 'Wear this. Raoul'*

After gathering, re-arranging, shifting, discovering and no small amount of cleaning Thrar surveyed what was to be his refuge during the forseeable future. He was satisfied with the accomadations but there was one thing that sat off with him, no windows. It couldn't really be helped but he missed windows and cool breezes, the way sunlight played through the leaves in a forest bathing everything in green light.
"I suppose I could always try and get a live feed camera and watch the sunrise if it's getting to me...I wonder if there would be any side effects."
Having seen to his quarters Thrar resolved to do a little exploring. As he opened his door he saw the new clothes. He picked them up and as he examined them he smiled.
"At least they didn't give me a red shirt."
He changed and once he was done he decided to see what he could discover of this House of the Damned.

What, because I resent being collared like some kind of slave? My independance is what makes me work well in the field, and personal loyalty has me in this position, leash or no leash. Why do you think I've not taken a bandsaw to my ankle and told you to go to hell and take your trinket with you?
Of course Iden had to argue. It was part and parcel of the independance Raoul had commented on. Past that, Iden folded his arms across his chest. His neutral mask had yet to falter, leaving his mood and thoughts unreadable by physical features.
The only change in status I desire and will accept is one that is a step closer to being rid of whatever shackles you've deemed fit to use, and that will let me stay in the field operating much as I already am. What do you have to offer that could meet such a requirement?

You take the title of Leuitenant I told Thrar you already had. I wont remove the anklet yet, because though you speak of loyalty, your loyalty is NOT to me. Its to Roan. If she went rogue, the whoel lot of you would go with her. Its not just MY will that dictates one of you, at least, at ALL times, has SOME method of control on them to make the rest of the clan think twice before creating a second Anarch state. You say you;d be just as well of running with the Anarch's... prehaps you shoudl read up on what your Sire and her ilk got up to back when being an Anarch was all the rage. We cant afford that kind of chaos again, not here. Not this last bastion of hope.
*Raoul finished his wine and looked at Iden blandly*
Your choice. Prove yourself, satisfy the Council, present Yoachi to take your place as sacrifice within say the next year for a time frame... and then we'll discuss the removal of the trinket.

I'm aware, just as I'm also aware that my own moral standing comes first over all else. If the clan goes Anarch, or worse, Sabbat, they'd better have a damn good reason to tide me over, or I'd help beat their collective heads in, family or no. My LOYALTY to them is also the trust that they WON'T go renegade.
Iden nodded. He understood Raoul perfectly, and understood the reasoning behind the anklet. It did not mean, however, that he liked the thought. But a more important matter had his attention at the moment anyways.
No. Last promotion I got I was railroaded into, and hardly ready for. I'm going to have to turn down this one...I've every desire to stay on small unit patrols, and to stay in the field. Larger engagements and tactics are for cooler heads. I will maintain my duties to the best of my ability, however, and we'll see how Yoh plays into matters.

Then we will discuss this again when you are ready, Iden DeSeer. After Thrar has become stable within your group, prehaps we shall discuss the future of the necromancer. He is still a fledgling and unrecognised. Prehaps that should change. If there is nothing else, you are dismissed...
*Raoul left the conversation open for Iden to add more, otherwise the neonate was free to go*

You know how to get in touch when you've finished with him. I'll keep you informed if I find anything regarding the Sire.
Iden had nothing more to add. He wasn't pleased, or satisfied, but at the least he had reached a point of understanding and acceptance. He stood, and turned to the door. He paused only briefly, before letting his hand rise to push it open.
