oooh i'm wqith you on that. it'd also be nice to be able to turn into my therianthrope type too. nothing like a 20 foot long blue dragon flying through the air to get people running.

And get fighter jets mobilised too, if I saw a 20 foot dragon I think one of the first things I'd think of was "I forsee a new King Kong, with a dragon and slightly better airplanes instead. And no annoying woman."

i dunno if something that breathes fire and has the capability to affect things in its vicinity would really be something they'd want to shoot at. might find a rocket coming back at them or something.
hooray for limited telekinesis and being able to exist outside of time.
and "clash of vision", read the thread a bit. do some research on modern vampirism. you might find something to your interest. we do indeed exist, though not in the sense legends state. feel free to ask me any questions and i'll be quite happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

Hello there, I'm a Sanguinarian vampire. Have been for at least 10 years. I'm also a bit of a vampire historian, I study all things vampire, be it vampires in the media (movies, books, ect.) to vampiric crime (like the case of Susan Walsh, or Countess Elizabeth Bathory), to the vampire underground and the "Real Vampires," like myself that dwell there, to vampire mythology.

If you ever have any vampire related information then please feel free to send it to me so that I can add it to my ever growing library. This could be anything from movie or book reviews to new criminal cases, to just little known facts and tidbits, anything and everything is of interest! Much thanks!

And if there's anything anyone would like to ask me, please don't hesitate! My knowledge is at anyone's disposal if they should need it! I've advised my fair share of young ones, and I'm happy to help with anything you may need. And my knowledge of random vampire trivial is quite impressive...

i've never been much of a fan of the classical or hollywood vamps myself...i find it very offensive, truth be told. in fact i'm actually intending to go to school to become a director for the purpose of seeding some films about real life vampirism, therianthropy, magick, etc into hollywood style films.

Check out the manga Lament of the Lamb, not entirely 'accurate' but not "I vant to suck yor blud, for AI am ay vampyre" either

im fascinated by the myths and personally think bram stoker is a genius, however i dont think i am one, whether it be true or not.

that being said, the metallic taste of blood is good, lol

I agree.

I've always been fasintated by vampires. Anne Rice has really captured vampires in my opinion. I do believe there are real vampires out there. *Gets ready to be hit with things.*

I agree. I think she did a great job with her vampires. And for the record, I also believe in real vampires.

are you kidding me? anne rice's novels are terrible! i cant read more than a chapter without chucking them at the nearest trashbin! she either makes us seem rediculously homoerotic or evil or depressed. the writing isnt even interesting!

By using "us" it implies that you can fly, move objects with your mind and turn extra crispy flame grilled style in sunlight...

hence the innacuracy and eventual offensiveness of the books in my eyes. it's becausew of people like her that i can't openly admit to vampirism.

It's just fiction; when a book is fantasy, the rules are completely up to the author - rules of Wizardry in Harry Potter and rules of dragons in Eragon are created by J.K. Rowling and Christopher Paolini respectively, and the same is possible with Anne Rice's vampire novels. Fantasy, even dark fantasy, is hardly ever meant to be factual.

i still find it offensive, because it's what comes to mind when i mention the word vampire. if people thought of dracula that'd be one thing, but the way anne rice portrays vampires is awful and generally stupid. its as offensive to me as dragons being called evil, malicious creatures who come from the christian idea of the devil.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 05, 2007 6:35 pm

Then specifically, what is it about Rice's portrayal of vampires that offends you?

everything...the attitude, the mindset, the writing style in general. i just think she's a shitty writer.

Shame to hear that... I'm not a Rice fanatic, but I enjoyed The Vampire Lestat.
