Ava and Faith arrived back in reality to the sound of L'del and Blazeth celebrating their success. The queen and her rider snorted their amusement in unison. "Those two..." Ava shook her head, grinning at the scene.

Wrath says that we're going to Benden Hold next, and then Fort Weyr, Faith alerted her rider. She's giving me the coordinates. She showed her rider the images of the places they were to go.

Thanks Faith. I've got them now.

You'd better, the gold warned her. Now show me the image for Benden Hold, so I can show Wrath that you have it right. Faith's voice showed total confidence in her rider's ability to remember the coordinates perfectly. She was right. Moments after Ava showed her dragon the images, the gold mentioned, She says they're accurate.

Thanks, dear.

You're welcome. We're going to Benden Hold now.

Again, they were surrounded by the blackness of between, but Ava kept the image of the Hold firm in her mind. Heartbeats later, they were circling over the Hold.

Seeing a figure waving below them, L'del waved back as Blazeth dipped his wings in recognition. A weyrling, from the last Hatching, he tells his rider. I think we surprised her.

Probably did, L'del agreed.

Wrath says that we're going to Benden Hold next. She's going to send me the coordinates, and I'm to show them to you. Then you're to show them to me, and I can let her know that they're accurate.

Huh? Say that again, please?

Blazeth again explained the procedure. As his rider finally understood what was required, he was shown an aerial image of Benden Hold. Locking it firmly in his memory, he showed the image to his bronze, who in turn relayed it to their instructor.

Finally, they were ready. When the signal was given, they went between. One...two...three...f.. They appeared safely in the skies once again.

"Ow!" How was she ever going to sew this leather together? This was the second time she'd pricked a finger. Putting the strip of leather down, she applied pressure to the pinprick to help stop the bleeding. While she waited, she looked around. Apparantly, the girl next to her was also having trouble.

Arizath recieved new images and relayed them to T'thia

"go to benden hold first love"

T'thia sent the image of benden hold back to Arizath who relayed it to Wrath who informed them of the accuracy.

ready?

"ready"

they once again counted in unison as they went between and emerged in the sunlight over Benden hold. Arizath joined the other few wyrelings who had emerged from the black nothingness to circle the hold

"are we supposed to wait for Wrath before we go to the next area?"

i think it would be best

Arizath dipped his wing and turned waiting for Wrath to tell them to go to the next transfer point.

((*shrug* I think we've done enough active betweening RP; we can just pretend we went to those other place, right? Good job everyone.))

Okay Wrath, one more jump and we can stop for the day. Ray thumps the queen's shoulder. The weather up here at Telgar was cloudy, so she couldn't judge the time quite accurately, but if she recalled correctly, there should still be some late afternoon sunshine back at Benden. And I bet those Weyrlings are getting hungry by now, with all these transfers today. Tell them it's home to Benden Weyr now; they should at least know their own way home by now.

Wrath rumbles, an agreeable sound. I would not refuse a snack myself! Ray laughs.

Doublechecking the formation behind her, she gives one last signal and Wrath makes the jump home.

T'thia was growing hungry, and the too small riding gear was begining to grow too uncomfertable.

"home Arizath, here's the destination"

T'thia sent the images of the star stones in the late afternoon soon at benden wyre to her dragon.

got it

Arizath made the final leap home and emerged in the late afternoon sunlight, he bugled his arrival to the watch dragon and circled to land near the lake. T'thia slid off and stretched her legs before releasing Arizath of the riding harness

"alright Riz, go have a snack, but don't gorge yourself"

Arizath gave a bugle of joy as he leaped up and circled heading towards the feeding grounds. T'thia grinned and set off towards the wyreling barracks. she hung the leather straps and stripped the gear replacing it with a pair of loos trousers and a loose harper blue tunic. she shrugged on her light harper blue vest and shoved on her soft wherhide boots. she grabbed the gear. she then set off towards the lower caverns. she stopped by the store rooms and exchanged the small gear for proper fitting clothing and got a spare set of riding gloves. she then grabbed a couple meet rolls and a water skin before heading out to eat her food in the late sunlight by the lake thoughts of becomming a full fledged rider swimming in her head.

Kyamakin

Nakoreth trumpets happily to the watchdragon as he and K'makin return to the Weyr. The sweepflight over that cold place was not much fun, even with the occasional Swoop and Char of ragged plants on some of the mountainsides.

He was good at flaming Thread. Why bother flaming grass?

Do you still feel up to that bath? As if K'makin had to ask!

Of course. I reek of firestone. And there's still enough sun to get properly dried and warmed.

The brown senses more than hears his rider's chuckle as he drops altitude quickly to reach the sandy beach. Aware of his dragon's desire for cleanliness, K'makin hurries down to strip off the harness and, as Nakoreth trundles into the gentle waves, most of his own clothing.

Clad in his underbreeches, K'makin waits on the shore, not really wanting to jump into the cold water after his dragon. Nakoreth, snorts underwater, sending droplets into the air, and swims into deeper water to wallow properly for a while.

Not much later, he returns to the shallows to be scrubbed. Ahh, that's the spot. By now K'makin knows exactly which places are the most itchy. "I'll have to oil you later," the man comments idly as he finds a spot that's especially itchy.

Nakoreth does not deign to respond, too pleased with the scratchy sand being rubbed into the right places.

As the two, dripping, return to the beach so Nakoreth can find a warm sandy spot, a group of Weyrlings led by Wrath appear. Happy to see his friend, Nakoreth bugles at her. Do you want to share my warm sand? he offers.

He's only slightly disappointed when she declines to visit him right now; she wants a snack first! I shall keep a spot warm for you, he replies. The sun goes down soon, so don't waste time!

Unaware of his dragon's conversation, Kya shades his eyes to look at the flight of Weyrings. Their formation is a bit ragged, but that would come with practice. "I'm going to get some dinner. I'll come back with some oil for you, you should be dry enough by then."

The brown rumbles happily, and curls up on the sand as his rider finds his clothes and dresses.

K'vat had washed, oiled and fed his beautiful green Preyasith and was sitting near where she slept sewing ridding straps for them to use latter on when she got bigger. He smiled happy at the sleeping green then watched the older weyrlings come back from their first between pratice.

Siella watches the weyrlings at between practice with envy, while stroking the head of her bronze firelizard. 'I wish I had a dragon...'

Noticing a patchy area of Gyran's skin, Siella gasps and runs to get some oil. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Gyran!"

T'thia finishes her snack with a delighted sigh. her treo of flits swoop down on her in a practiced formation the gold, Lira, leading while her Bronze Orneth was at right wing, and blue Huntu back left wing of her gold. the landed on their respected perches

"hey you three"

she grinned at her flits as they cheeped at her happily. she examined them all and though they didn't need it she thought to treat them to an oiling

"come on you miscrients, i need to stretch my legs, a walk to the lower caverns for some oil would do it, don't you think?"

her flits took flight and made happy airial flips above her head before resetteling. T'thia gave a small alugh and started off towards the lower caverns.

Siella was just oiling her bronze firelizard Gyran when another girl walked into the lower caverns with her own lizards. "Hello!" Siella called. "I don't believe I've met you yet..."

Myythren

PostPosted: Sat Dec 04, 2004 8:16 pm

Myyth sat outside the kitchen, her dargon lying on her feet. As she munched on a roll she tried not to press down much on her sore fingers.
"So My little one, this making straps is going to take a while." She said while pushing the dragon off her feet and standing up. "It could have gone faster had you not poked yourself." Spirith said, sitting up and streching her wings a bit.

Myyth rolled her eyes at the tiny dragon. "Easy for you to say, you spent the afternoon sleeping." "On a pile of leather, in the sun." the dragon remarked smugly. Myyth just rolled her eyes again and continued speaking. "Besides that I'm not sure why we need to learn with leather, could we learn on something else? And thats not even taking you into account, my tiny egg born one."

Looking around Myyth contined to speak to her Spirith from her mind,
"Will you even be big enough to ride? Spirith snorted before replying. "We will fly thread like no one before us mine, you will see."

With that cryptic remark Spirith walked toward the weyrling quarters. After a moment she turned back to Myyth, who hadn't yet moved.
"Coming?"she asked, the largest dragon smile Myyth had ever seen on her face.

((Ahh, edited after reading the below.))

((ahh... I should have been more clear; the straps you're working on are for practice, to learn how to piece leather and learning the construction of harnesses. You won't be making harnesses for your dragons until at least a year of growth in RP time; we'll likely fastforward at some point.))

"Finally!" Ray opens the lid of the jug that contains the dried herb she's spent the past half hour seeking. Isskio chirps curiously from her shoulder and sneezes at the smell. The leaves are a bit crumbly, but still reeked with potency. She stuffs a doublehandful into a small linen sack and replaces the lid. As she heads out of the storeroom, picking up a glowbasket on the way, Ray makes sure that Wrath is settled. Of course I am; Nakoreth was a dear and kept a spot warm for me on the sand.

Ray quirks an eyebrow as she walks through the Weyr's corridors from the herbal storage room. Were Wrath and Nakoreth devloping a bond? The thought worried her somewhat; K'makin was a good friend, but the Weyr needed more Queens and ... well okay, Ray had to admit that not every bronze-Queen mating resulted in a Queen Egg, but even in all of the Brown-Queen matings she'd ever heard of in her searches through musty Records, none had resulted in Queen eggs.

Don't worry, Wrath advised abruptly. The strongest and best wins in a Flight. If a Brown was not only the strongest and the best but the most clever to defeat the Bronzes up against him, then the victory is deserved. Cleverness is an excellent quality, and I feel it is equally important to strength, if not more.

You make a good argument, Ray admits. But it doesn't solve the population problem.

She could hear Wrath's snort in her mind. I know what I'm doing; I understand the process better for having lived it. Stop worrying. Nakoreth is a good friend to me, and you would do better to be a better friend to those around you. Goodnight.

Feeling somewhat affronted, Ray heads out into the Lower Caverns. She stops by to talk to Lyanti briefly, requesting a pot of boiling water and several empty klah mugs be taken to her table, then, with a small jar of oil and a cloth, she sits down to oil Isskio.

T'thia looks over at the new girl, obviousley a new candidate to stand on the sands when the next clutch was layed. she sent her blue to retrieve the small pot of oil as she took a seat near the girl

"hi, i don't believe i've seen you around here, new?"

she looked up as Huntu dropped the oil pot into her hands

"huntu i need a cloth as well"

the blue flit squaked in indignation before disapearing for a few breaths to return with the cloth. T'thia dipped the end into the pot and glanced at her flits

"alright, Lira you're up first"

her Bronze and blue waited as patciently as possible as the queen craddled in T'thia's lap and spread her wings for oiling. as she began she glanced up at the girl across from her

"names T'thia rider of Bronze Arizath, you a new candidate?"

T'thia was surprised at how easy it was to begin the conversation, in her early days in the wyre she had been one of the biggest loners, even after impression she kept to herself but found herself growing more open over the past turn or so she'd been at the wyre. she smiled at the girl's bronze flit happy to know that perhaps not only the population of dragons might grow soon but the population of flits as well.
