Tawa'di gave a goofy grin back to the other.
"No need for formalities, U'yosi G'vhi. We're all very much equal in this time of dire need." Tawa'di swished his tail, taking in the sun's rays a bit more for some warmth and energy to reply.
"I am Tawa'di Kanati, nvwati, though I assume you would know that." His tatoos said all about what he was and what he had done in his younger years. He gave a short dip of his head before sitting down on his old haunches, tired of standing for so long.
"Eat, U'yosi. I have been feeding on rodents, while you seem to of not been feeding on anything. Eat, I'll watch the little calf that she left. The thing will tire soon enough for an easy kill." He nodded again, hoping to coerce the scrawny adult to eat. "After you eat, you can tell me of what is of issue on hand." A small spark was in his eye, just for a moment. A little hope to something that might bring a little normality to the pride, the them as a people.

N...Nvwati? Of course, that was what that meant! Almost horrified by his lack of respect to the oldster, and by his own lack of memory, U'yosi could do nothing but shift uncomfortably and reply, "Yes, nvwati," as meekly as he could. But the scent was in his nose now, and despite the company he tore ravenously into the kill, grateful at last for that nourishment. And.. the nvwati wanted news? Well then, they could exchange some. Tsi'hilu!

"The plague, nvwati," he said after a short while, swallowing down mouthfuls and pausing before some more. "Another catastrophe to blight our people..." He left it unsaid that he felt the spirits had laid a curse on them. "My sky-marked Asa'nunu Waya... she is gone. My cloudmarked son Asegi...." The male held a lost look in his face, almost puzzled in the knowledge that his family had died before diving once more into the kill. A few bites later he looked up again.
"But Tsi'hilu! My daughter. She is alive, somewhere, around here maybe! A white cub, white as the clouds, white as her mother and brother. The last of the Wolf Clan now, as I am last of the Wildcat Clan."

EDIT: Gone to bed, it is past midnight and I have the flu xD. Night!

Tawa'di brushed off his formality in using his title. Silly things like that would do no good in this rough time for the pride. He was much more interested in what this U'yosi had to say about his family. Tawa'di's ears became pinned against his head, not welcoming this news at all. This plague that he has read had really done that much damage? This did not settle well at all in his soul. Plus one so blessed as a white cub is missing? This could make matters even worse. The gods must be against them for something, but Tawa'di couldn't think of what they could hold against his people. This made his tail twitch behind him, his mind wandering off into things that only a nvwati would be able to understand.
"I see..." is all he could really reply with right now. This needed...more investigating to fully see what had been happening.

"You have not seen her." The hope faded from U'yosi face as he stated this matter-of-factly, before tearing another huge chunk off. "But there is better chance now I am no longer the only lion to be found in these lands..." He chewed for a while, concentrating on the kill. When almost all the gazelle was gone, and his belly straining to hold so much unaccustomed food, he wearily padded a little way from the carcass.
"Please, eat what you can while you may, nvwati," he said. "The spirits will not always send rodents scurrying past you, and there is still the little fawn." The latter was in fact cowering a little way off.

Tawa'di eyed the little gazelle foal that was left defenseless. Defenseless....just like how the Ela'wadiyi Pride had fallen. There was probably only a handful of them left, definately not enough to even stand themselves against a pack of rogue heyna. It was very depressing to see.
He watched the foal a little more, seeing it tremble as it smelled it's mother's blood, too shoked to move away like the instincts were most likely telling it. Tawa'di, old as he was, still had all of his teeth, and could do a little hunting, now and again. He knew he'd pay for it with pain later, but the fresh meat infront of him outweighed that later-to-come pain.
His muscles tensed as he waited for one moment, when the little foal was paying more attention to U'yosi then Tawa'di, and lunged for the kill. He was off a little, but since it was just a foal, he was able to take it down only after a small struggle. With an open cut near his face, Tawa'di snapped the little foals neck and began to tear into the side of the foal, eating what he had killed. What lions felt some pride in, especially in one so old as himself.
He watched U'yosi as he ate his fill on the little foal's flesh.

The dark lion flopped down, his painfully thin frame looking out of place with his now stretched full belly. He was finding it difficult to think.. For a while he just watched the older lion eating, flies buzzing round his face; he tossed his mane slightly to dislodge them, and continued wathing. It all seemed so surreal... another Ela'wadiyi, after so long. Where were all the others? Surel the plague could not have taken them all.. the spirits would be too cruel for that to happen. U'yosi sighed, resting his muzzle on his paws for a moment, waiting for Tawa'di to finish eating.

As Tawa'di snapped the last largest bone, and licked out most of the bone marrow he could find, he inched closer to the other, slowly lowering himself to the ground to digest his food. His eyes closed, enjoying to good feeling of a full stomache. He rested there for a while, feeling very lazy quite suddenly and wanting to nap. But it would be best to sit and chat with this U'yosi, try to wean as much information that he could to confirm or not the things that Tawa'di had seen.

U'yosi rolled over and put one laree paw briefly across his muzzle before sighing.
"So, n'vw - Tawa'di. I have given you my news... will you share yours with me?"
The Ela'wadiyi male thought about rolling into a sitting upright position, but the unaccustomed food after so long was taking its toll. He flicked an ear, waiting for the reply and wondering whether they should move to some shade and leave, before the scavengers turned up...

Tawa'di didn't think twice about moving. He felt much too heavy for him ol' bones right now to move. He dozed a bit, or what looked like dozing, as he gathered his thoughts together. What should he tell him? There were things even Tawa'di himself was unsure of, but this U'yosi deserved to know something. He sorted out a snippit of information from his mind, and began to speak.
"There is not much to tell. I myself never come across Ela'wadiyian anymore."
He opened his eyes slowly and looked to the other, in the most casual way he could; which wasn't very sucessful at all. Being a nvwati, and seeing things others didn't, just didn't make you act normal, or taken normal at all.
"I have seen though, that after this plague and losing many of our people left, there are a small pawful making their way back. Not in the coming time, but they will. I've also lost the sense of another surviving, but to know if he is dead or has left the lands, even I cannot tell."
His paling dark mane ruffled as he shook his head.

U'yosi's heart jumped a little. Perhaps Tsi'hilu was in that pawful! Perhaps she had been taken in by one of the other clans as she wandered fever stricken... U;yosi could remember little of those days where he had been so ill, and knew he didn't remember some things on purpose. His abiding love for Asa'nunu was locked away in his brain now; even though, by the end, he knew she really didn't love him anymore, it never changed the way he felt. He wasn't that kind of lion. Even in his lying down position, he inclined his head to the old one.
"That at least is encouraging news, Tawa'di... we are not completely lost at least..."
Something flickered in his spirit, growing slowly stronger as it would over a long time. He would NOT let the Ela'wadiyi fall from memory. They would be reunited with the others of the clans, and rebuild anew...

"Mmm, it is comforting, but even so, we have no strength."
He fell silent and stared at the lands ahead of him. Should he really mention what he believes, in his heart? The Ely'wadiyi will not survive otherwise. There is too few left to replenish without it.
"I believe...that we should accept the few rogues that seem to wander out lands to accept our ways and join us. I haven't seen a future with them, but the futures I see are never always pure truth."
He swished his tail on the dry grass before continuing.
"We wouldn't be able to survive an attack without more strength. For all anyone could know, we're only two males, one ancient, with the oddest markings around."
Tawa'di gave a slight chuckle to himself, wondering what the "regular" lions would believe if one ever came across them.

"Mmm." U'yosi agreed with a decisive nod of his head. "If another, stronger pack came... but these lands we have here are empty but for those few rogues. The game and water is good.. I agree, we should allow others to become clan members. But.." he looked a little uncertain, "Tawa'di... would they become a caln in their own right, or would we use the clan names of those now deceased, to keep the history?" He looked agitated all of a sudden. He knew he was the only Wildcat to have survived the first purge, and now, if he could find Tsi'hilu, she would be the only Wolf...

"That is a point that I am unsure of, myself. I believe if the remaining...member...of a clan would want to accept them into their clan and heritage, then we may do that. But otherwise, I believe a new clan should emerge for the ones that will join us. We must ensure that they stil with our ways, though, or things might get....messy"
Tawa'di nodded in a slow, thoughful manner, still thinking about how to work those kinks out, even the unspoken ones. Their bloodline might lose it's purity, but survival was more important then pointless pride.

U'yosi nodded slowly again. "I suppose... as long as memories of our history are passed down, there are no reasons not to change.." He felt vaguely guilty for not having taught Tsi'hilu the whole pride history, rather than her own clan's ways and, when Asa'nunu was not around, brief tales of his own heritage. He sighed. "It seems so strange, to be planning for a new start all over again... " He felt like a false start had been made. The journey across the mountains, the joy of cubs being born to bless this new land, and then to be put back to square one.. he licked the last tastes of blood from around his muzzle and laid his head on his paws, eyes deep and heavy in thought.

Tawa'di didn't speak this time, he only watched U'yosi, studying his emotions that were unspoken, but very much evident in his manner. A false start....he wouldn't necessarily say that. They had a start, and though it wasn't wrong, to Tawa'di, it rang true. They were happy for a time, if limited; wouldn't that count for something? But then, he didn't have a family, his own parents long dead, and he'd never felt that love that he could give to someone, like U'yosi did with his whole heart. Tawa'di had felt just the flicker of it, but the Blackfire tribe and snuffed it out soon enough. Tawa'di's tail flicked irritably as the memory surfaced. Something like that wouldn't help him now, so he shoved it back down his mind and gazed around at the lands, yet again, wondering if he'd see another. Something he didn't expect, of course.
