I wonder what I would've done if it were my child...

ok ok,, so ,, takiko is priestess of genbu correct? and the father kills her? taking into consideration that it was many years ago.. the dad was crazy. well not back then. but i'd think that a child like that shouldnt have been killed, it may seem scary that he/she just came outta a book.etc.. but,, not enough fault to kill her for it... but b/c i havent read the book,, or understand too much about this,, i wouldnt know.

Okay, so let's look at it this way: Genbu Kaiden takes place during the Taisho Era which was 1912 to 1926. That in and of itself has a whole lot to do with Takiko's father's mindset. And then let's not forget their little tiff in the first volume where Einosuke fully admits that he would've preferred that Takiko had been a boy. The father/daughter relationship between them wasn't all that great to start with.

So when Takiko returns from the world of the Shijin Tenchisho and is being devoured by Genbu you can imagine the effect that must've had on her father. I mean you remember how it was happening to Yui? With the scales and all, I don't know the effect on Takiko but it probably wasn't pleasant. The only honorable thing Einosuke felt he could do was to kill his daughter. Either way she was basically going to "die" in a sense. Be it devoured by Genbu or killed by her father's hand. Einosuke believed that he was doing her a favor by ending her suffering. You guys have to think this is a different country and a different era from our own.

Though this is the way her story ends according to the SuSei arc, I'm not all that sure that Watase-sensei will stick to that particular ending. I wouldn't be surprised if she did, I would be sad, but I wouldn't be surprised. Genbu Kaiden is such a great series and its flowed beautifully thus far with some changes to things mentioned in the SuSei arc. So basically I'm just taking it as it goes and throwing my knowledge of the story that I got from the original out the window.

I got it all now. I guess what her father did back then was right. But why must he killed himself after that? Was it because he was crazy?

Maybe he felt that he had nothing to live for without his wife and daughter, too...?
